To our station commander, PMAJ Ramon C Aquiatan, sir.
Our deputy station
commander, PCPT Jumar C. Nabua, sir. To our SESPO, PEMS Jamsuri, to my friends and colleagues of Police Station 10, isang pong mapagpala at mapayang Araw ng Kalayaan sa ating lahat! It is my honor to be standing here today as we celebrate the 125th Anniversary of our Independence Day, together with our fellow Filipinos across the world. Today, as I am given the opportunity to be your keynote speaker, allow me to share with you some life lessons and reflections from my recent experiences that perhaps you may learn from. 1. FAITH – My journey to being a lawyer was never easy. I passed the recent Bar Examinations on my 3rd attempt. It took me 3 times before God answered my prayers. I kept trying and I kept praying, and in doing so I learned to be patient. I always believe that God’s plan is and will always better than mine. I did all the planning and preparation on my 1st two attempts, but I still failed. However, on my third attempt, talaga pong ipinagpasadiyos ko po ang lahat. Instead of worrying too much, I spent time with my family and friends, I worked, I enjoyed and had fun, I studied smarter and not harder. When I passed the 3rd attempt duon ko narealize na may proseso ang buhay natin. We just need to give the best we can, to pray for guidance, and above all trust God's process. Our mantra as men and women of the Philippine National Police is to Serve and Protect. We can only do our purpose with integrity and compassion if we seek God’s guidance. We may not understand God’s plan for us sometimes, but with that great faith, we trust that it will always be to prosper us, and to give us hope and a future. 2. GRATITUDE. In the process of becoming a Lawyer, maraming tumulong sa akin to be where I am today. I am grateful to our former station commanders, to my fellow nup and to you all for your support and prayers. I am grateful to be surrounded by many givers. Although sa 3rd attempt ko medyo kumonti ang support system ko, I still am grateful for the very few who stayed and still believed in me. I learned that the more grateful my heart is, the more giving I will be. I know that with this grateful heart I can give back to this organization, to my family, to the people who supported and believed in me from the very beginning. As we continue to embark in our journey as members of the Philippine National Police, may we always ask God to fill us with gratitude so that we may appreciate every blessing that we have – big or small, and to give back and become a blessing to our family, workplace and community. 3. COURAGE. It took a lot of courage to take the bar exams the 3 rd time. Kapag bumagsak po kasi ako I will need to take refresher courses for one year. It is a risk that I took and I said to myself that if I will not take the risk, I will never know if I will become a lawyer. In taking the risk, I finally got the most coveted title, the ATTY. Just like me, I believe that each one of you, my friends have that courage within you – the courage to be the best version of yourself. I know that some of us do not have the courage to speak up our thoughts, most of us do not have the courage to try new things, and some of us do not have the courage to be the very captain of our own lives. We always live up to the expectations of others. Take courage. Speak up your thoughts, Imagine and put that imagination to reality. Learn new things. Be who you truly are. If we will not take the risk, how will we know that we are far better than who we think we are? As men and women of service, we are stewards in our society. We are accountable to our institution, to our mandate and to the community. Just like my title as an attorney, the badge that you wear carries with it not just a privilege but a great responsibility. May we have the courage to take up that responsibility, be the best version of ourselves and bring about change in the society that we promise to serve and protect. To all of us who are present today, may we carry on our purpose with faith, gratitude, and courage every step of our duties. As I end, and this is probably my first and last time that I will address to you, I wish to give my utmost respect and admiration to all of you for your commitment to the Philippine National Police and to our country. My snappiest salute to all of you, ma’am and sir. Thank you and happy independence day once again!
