The TV-100 is designed to be a compact, lightweight, microprocessor controlled

ventilator which allows for precise ventilatory control. The TV-100 features an
internal compressor which allows the TV-100 to operate without the need for
external pressurized gas supplies; however an external oxygen supply may be
connected to blend with the air from the internal compressor. To further simplify
use there are minimal ventilation controls. The TV-100 user interface (UI) is a
touchscreen color LCD with full VGA resolution.
The TV-100 utilizes various filtering and smoothing techniques. The alarm auto set
feature sets the alarm limits associated with rate, peak pressure, PEEP, IPAP, mean
pressure, and oxygen using the average of samples taken over five breaths. Rate is
averaged over five breaths. If rate changes more than 50 percent then the rate
begins to recalculate with the current breath. The next breath will be the average
of the previous two breaths.
When detecting flow triggers the TV-100 uses a running average of the last three
flow measurements taken at 5 ms intervals. When zeroing the flow sensors an
exponentially weighted moving average filter is applied to the sensor readings. All
pressure and flow sensor readings are run through a low pass filter. When detecting
pressure cycles the TV-100 uses a reference pressure that is the average of the sum
of positive airway pressure measurements taken during the inspiratory phase of the
current breath.
Oxygen sensor readings are filtered with an exponentially weighted moving average
filter. When calibrating the oxygen sensor, the oxygen value is the average of
samples taken over one second.
