INTRODUCTION
When fundamental conditions such as nutrition, moisture, oxygen, and an adequate temperature are
provided, textiles, especially those made of natural fibers, are a good medium for the growth of
microbes. As a result, antimicrobial textile finishes are in high demand to control the growth of
micro-organisms. Anti-microbial properties can be introduced to textile materials by chemically or
physically coordinating antimicrobial agents onto fibers or fabrics.

Inorganic compounds such as Silver(Ag) & Copper(Cu) are well known anti-microbial agents since it
has no toxicity and pernicious activities. The sol-gel approach has the potential to be a more robust
method of collecting organic and inorganic molecules with different functionalities than the other
methods.
OBJECTIVES
✓ To make surface finish on viscose fabric
✓ To implement sol-gel method by Water-Glass Solution.
✓ To compare between two inorganic compounds
(Antimicrobial) on viscose fabric.
✓ To determine the antimicrobial efficiency on the finished
fabric.
