Emergency rescue

a truck-mounted concrete pump

1 Basic Seminar 2014

Emergency rescue
Introduction
In hydraulic systems, the energy is transferred and controlled by a fluid. This
results in very high operating pressures. Improper use can cause serious injury!

Working with hydraulic systems requires technical understanding.

Important Notes
 When working, ensure that the unit is trouble free.
 An increase of the operating pressure is not allowed.
 The safety rules have the highest priority and the system may be used only
comply with regulations.

2 Basic Seminar 2014

Emergency rescue
When is an emergency rescue necessary?

 Defective vehicle engine or PTO

 Broken PTO shaft

 Hydraulic Pump, Boom System is damaged

3 Basic Seminar 2014

Emergency rescue
How can an emergency rescue be performed?

1. Emergency rescue with an auxiliary power unit

2. Emergency rescue with a foreign machine

3. Emergency rescue with an external machine by the Boom

Emergency rescue
Emergency rescue with an auxiliary power unit
If the electronics fail, the
EMERGENCY STOP
VALVE for the boom
system must be closed.
 Close the hydraulic
line for boom under
the EMERGENCY
STOP VALVE
or
 the hydraulic line from
the EMERGENCY
STOP VALVE to
Hydraulic tank.

Emergency rescue
Emergency rescue with an auxiliary power unit
 Pressure port of the auxiliary unit to
the machine to be rescued.
 Suction hose to
the drain valve of
the hydraulic
tanks connect.

9 Basic Seminar 2014

Emergency rescue
1. Emergency rescue with an auxiliary power unit

Important Notes
 Hydraulic lines may be under pressure.
 To release and connecting the hydraulic lines, an oil pan should be
ready.
 The hydraulic unit should have enough power
 The hydraulic lines should be large enough

Emergency rescue
2. Emergency rescue with a foreign machine
Machine to be rescued foreign machine

 Connect pressure ports

together.
 Both drain ports
connecting together.

12 Basic Seminar 2014

Emergency rescue
2. Emergency rescue with a foreign machine

Important Notes
 Both machines should be at the same level
 Hydraulic lines may be under pressure.
 Never remove hydraulic lines running at PTO.
 Recover the machine only with low engine speed
 Check the level of both hydraulic tanks regularly during recovery
 to generate the necessary working pressure, the boom must be driven to
block (best boom 4).
 To release and connecting the hydraulic lines, an oil pan should be ready.
 Observe oils both machines! Mixing of different types of oil may cause
damage to the hydraulic system!

Emergency rescue
3. Emergency rescue with an external machine by the Boom
 Drive up the boom as close as
possible to the machine to be rescued  Connect
P and T
lines
