1. List and explain 5 (five) management processes involved in Human


Resource Management

A) Hiring
To ensure that the organization has the right
number of employees with the right number of
skills in the right jobs at the right time
to achieve organizational objectives.

Example

Once the need for a new hire has been identified, a job description should be created.
This should include the job title, duties and responsibilities,
required skills and qualifications, and any other relevant information.
B) Training and Development
This process involves enhancing the knowledge, skills,
and abilities of employees to improve their performance and
productivity.
It includes activities such as needs assessment, designing training
programs,
delivering training, and evaluating the effectiveness of training.

Example

Classroom Training: This is a traditional form of training were

C) Performance Management

This process involves setting performance expectations, monitoring performance, providing


feedback, and rewarding or correcting performance.

the organization's success.

Example

Goal-setting: This involves establishing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and


time-bound (SMART) goals for employees to work towards.
The goals should be aligned with the organization's mission and objectives and should be
challenging yet achievable.
D) Compensation and Benefits
This process involves developing and administering compensation and benefits programs to
attract, retain, and motivate employees.
It includes activities such as job evaluation, salary surveys, designing pay structures, and
administering benefits such as health insurance,
retirement plans, and paid time off.

Example

Salary or Wages: This is the most common form of compensation and refers to the
money paid to employees in exchange for their work.
Employees may be paid an hourly wage, an annual salary, or a combination of both.

E) Employee Relations

Employee relations focus on maintaining positive relationships between employees and the
organization.
It involves creating and implementing policies and procedures, handling employee grievances
and conflicts,
promoting a healthy work environment, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and
regulations.
This process aims to foster employee satisfaction, engagement, and loyalty, leading to higher
productivity and lower turnover rates.

Example
Identify the issue: The first step is to identify the problem and understand the nature of
the conflict or grievance.
The HR department or a designated representative may interview the involved employees
separately to gather
information about the situation
