Milestones and Deliverables
After analyzing the WBS, the RAM, and the Gantt chart, both dependencies and the critical path were noted allowing me
to find the biggest points to celebrate success and note achievements in planning. There are three notable milestones
within the path, each highlighting a progression down the planning path and giving reason for hype and celebration.
Once the flights and rental car are booked the trip feels “real” to the participants, but it also notes the ability to start
planning the camping sites, which is the next biggest milestone. The deliverable for this milestone is simple: flights and
rental reservation (with a note on the type of vehicle, allowing for the next stage of planning. The second milestone is
the conclusion of the camping site plan, completing all lodging planning and setting the final “gear selection” task to
begin. The deliverable for this milestone is the final campsite plan and will overlay with the hotel plan for full
understanding of the lodging amenities. The Final milestone is the completion of the plan, which occurs with the
conclusion of camping gear accumulation and outfitting. With each of the tasks complete the camping gear task should
round out all necessary items to ensure the plan is finished, and really only leave excitement and the need for some
practice hikes to warm the muscles for the trip!

Task Dependencies
The dependencies noted while creating the WBs and the RAM are noted in the Gantt chart. The biggest milestone in the
project is the booking of flights, as at least six tasks are dependent on the outcome of the flight schedule; nothing can be
completed until we know the dates and times of arrival. Additionally, the booking of the rental car, hopefully with AWD
or FWD, will also serve as a guide for the execution and decision made in least two follow on tasks. Lastly both the
camping and hiking gear allocations are dependent on their respective tasks of choosing the trails and campsites. As I
noted these dependencies in the WBS and RAM construction, laying out the path for completion became clearer.

Critical Path
The critical path is the longest path through the project and any delays in this path will affect the overall project. In the
Gantt chart above, the critical path is outlined in red. Using the observed dependencies to order tasks it was found that
the longest path would take 21 days and require flight and rental car planning, camping site selection and the allocation
of camping gear. Any push on the completion of these tasks would delay the overall project.
