Section -1 and 3
Use S275 grade steel
1. Design fixed end beam at both the ends for a span of 7m. Design load acting on the
beam is uniformly distributed load of 100 KN/m.
2. Design fixed end beam at both the ends for a span of 7m. Design load acting on the
beam for two-point loads of 100 KN/m each at equal distance.
3. Design the unrestrained beam for the following details. The beam is connected by
cleat angles to web at both the ends. Span of a beam is 7m. Design load acting on
the beam for two-point loads of 100 KN/m each at equal distance.
4. Design the cantilever for a span of 2.5m. Design load acting on the beam is
uniformly distributed load of 50 KN/m.
5. Design the simply supported beam steel for a span of 6.0 m and is laterally braced
at 1.5 m intervals. The beam is loaded with designed for uniformly distributed dead
load of 60kNm and imposed load of 70 KNm.

Section -2 and 4
Use S355 grade steel
1. Design an unrestrained cantilever beam for a span of 2.0m. Design load acting on
the beam is uniformly distributed load of 50 KN/m and point load at free end 20KN.
2. Design a restrained beam for a span of 7m. Design load acting on the beam for three-
point loads of 50 KN/m each at equal distance and with uniform distributed load of
25 KN/m.
3. Design the simply supported beam using Single Channel section for a span of 6.0
m. The beam is loaded with designed for uniformly distributed dead load of 60kNm
and imposed load of 70 KNm.
4. The purlin has to be designed as a simply supported beam using tube section for a
span of 5.0 m. The beam is loaded with designed for uniformly distributed dead load
of 20kNm and imposed load of 1.5 KN at midspan.
5. The purlin has to be designed as an oven hang beam using tube section for a span
of 5.0 m which is simply supported at the ends and overhang length of 1m. The
beam is loaded with designed for uniformly distributed dead load of 20kNm for the
full length of the beam.
