Today, I would like to take you to an adventure of space and time. In the known
universe, the laws of physics are governed by four fundamental forces: Electromagnetic
force, Strong nuclear force, Weak nuclear force, and last but certainly not the least,
Gravity. Although each force is an interesting topic to indulge in, I would only like to talk
about gravity.
In simple terms, Gravity is a phenomenon in which a matter, which holds mass, exerts
its force in a field. It is responsible for the weight we have when standing on the Earth’
surface and why the planets do their things. Sir Isaac Newton was the first to describe
gravity in his book titled “Principia Mathematica” or simply “Principia”. People had
believed that the world, as we know it, worked this way until Einstein came along.
Einstein’s revision about the theory of general relativity stated that gravity is not a force
but instead a field, like a fabric woven into the fabric of space and time. Einstein also
said in his theory that time works different than what we thought. Massive objects slows
time around them. An astronaut’s time in space ticks faster than someone on Earth.
But do not be confused on which claims are true because it is undeniable that both have
widen our understanding the natural causes that surrounds us. No doubt that it is a
difficult to get our heads around but understanding the very laws the govern gives the
answer to the questions we have been asking since humanities first thought. Good day
and God bless!
