80.3.2 NEGATIVE BRAKE MANAGEMENT

A negative brake replaces the handbrake usually fitted on this machine.
This brake is controlled hydraulically by the ‘park brake electro valve’ which, when controlled, sends
pressure to the negative unit brake cylinder (release).
The brake is applied/released by a push button. In addition, brake application is forced in the event
ignition is switched off, there is an emergency stop or loss of driver presence (operator absent from the
seat for 1 second).
The push button has a light which indicates park brake status (provided by the park brake pressure
switch, acquired by the SPU).

ELECTRICAL SYNOPSIS

80.3.3 ACCESS FUNCTION SOFTWARE OPERATION

USER REQUESTS
Hydraulic mode selector
The position of the ORH selector and the backup key are known by the Power2 calculator. This works out
the ORHselector information which may be Normal or Platform as well as the BackupKey information
which may be Yes or No. The same applies for the backup button with the BackupBut. information.

Access control console

The Access calculator (Manimux Power2) can communicate with the platform console via CANOpen. It
is capable of collecting operator commands.

The console movement commands are only taken into account if:
– Communication with the console is established (ConsolePresent information)
– No defect on the joystick, the commands and the console
– No cage overload, gate closed and platform spindle installed correctly (see platform safety).
– No console movement selector error
⇒ In this case, the LiftInstruction, TelescopicInstruction and AttachmentInstruction information
represents the position of the console joystick. Otherwise, they are forced to 0.

The other requests from the console are taken into account provided that communication is OK between
the console and Power2: HighEngineSpeed, EngineOn, EngineStop, EmergencyStop, Horn.

When controlling the starter, there is a high risk of console reset (drop in battery voltage). In this case, in
the event of loss of communication with the console, the start request (i.e. starter control) is maintained
for 5 seconds.

N.B.: following a failed start attempt by the console, the operator must press STOP before being able
to reuse the start button.

Inclinometer calibration
The inclinometer is calibrated from the console using a button combination.
: Throughout the procedure, the boom angle must be less than 5° and the boom must be fully retracted.

MACHINE STATUS AND SAFETY

Pressure switches on stabilisers
The stabiliser cylinders are controlled by analogue pressure sensors. The sensors are supplied in Vbat
and the measurable variation range is between 0.5V for 0bar and 4.5 V for 400 bar.
The Power2 calculator works out the StabsDown information which will be used in other functions.
This information is true if both stabilisers are detected down. If at least 1 stabiliser is up or if one of the
sensors is defective, the information is false.
The measurement is only taken if one stabiliser movement is requested and starts 500 ms after the end of
the movement. The measurements results from the average of 10 samples taken over a period of 500 ms:
End of

Measurements

Inclinometer
The 2-direction inclinometer measures the machine’s lateral and longitudinal balance.
It requires calibration before use: now provided by the PAD by CAN 0x1164 request.
The 2 angles are calculated by the Power2 calculator (2 analogue inputs used).
The Power 2 calculator checks the machine is within the range defined below (values taken from platform
tests):
Lateral: working range] -2.5°; +2.5 ° [ input range] -0.5°; 0.5 ° [
Longitudinal: working range] -11.5°; +5 ° [ input range] -11°; 2 ° [

The InclineOK information is then used by other functions.

SPU data
The SPU (stability calculator EN15000) and Power2 communicate via the CAN j1939 network. The Power2

80
collects the following information
worked out by the SPU:
– BoomAngle (in 0.1°. Corresponds to the max angle 62° if sensor defect or calibration not completed)
– ModeEN15k (1: Override; 2: defect; 16: normal; 32: Tin)
– CutEN15k
– ParkBrakeStatus (0: released; 1: applied; 2 or 3: error)
– FNRPosition (0: Neutral; 1: Forward; 2: Reverse; 3: Error)
This information is then used in other Power2 functions.

In the event of a communication error with the SPU, the Access calculator takes the following values:
⇒ BoomAngle = 70°C, ModeEN15k = Fault, CutEN15k = Yes, FNRPosition = F and ParkBrakeStatus = 0.

86 ELECTRICITY 80 (22/04/2020)

Cabin movement requests

The Power2 calculator must know the movements made in the cabin to authorise or prohibit movements.

CabinMovesOngoing is the total of:

– Movement requests known by the SPU (raise/lower, extension, attachment, incline in mech. version)
available on the CAN
– Stabiliser requests worked out by Power2
– Dumping/curling/lowering requests worked out by Power2 in hydraulic distributor version (MTX 10.33).

In the event of a hydraulic distributor:

to ensure detection of curling/dumping and lowering, 3 pressure switches need to be added to the
distributor control lines with the following restrictions:
– Normally Open type pressure switches
– Movement detection by applying a ground to pin 1.88 for curling, pin 1.89 for dumping, 1.58 for
lowering.
– The ground of the pressure switches is taken on pin 1.78 of the calculator
N.B.: the same software manages both distributor configurations, without any special settings.

FUEL LEVEL
The fuel level analogue information is connected to an analogue input on the calculator. Fuel Reserve
information is managed based on signal voltage (voltage thresholds can be configured):
Fuel reserve = Yes

Fuel reserve = No
2.85v 3v

Engine running information

Engine speed is not known by the calculator. However, the ‘D+’ terminal (excitation + load signal) on
the alternator is connected to a positive logic input on the calculator (ELP2). When there is current flow
at the alternator (virtually immediately after start up), the signal switches to 12V and EngineRunning
80

information (0: No; 1: Yes) switches to Yes.

Platform presence sensor

When a platform is fitted to a carriage, an inductive sensor sends information to the Access calculator.
This works out the PlatformPresent information which will be used in other functions.
647896EN
80 (22/04/2020) ELECTRICITY 87

Platform safety
Checking the contact pin
two sensors are connected to the console. This sends the statuses of the sensors to the Power2 for
processing.
This works out the PinOK information which will be used in other functions.

Checking the gate:

two sensors are connected to the console, which sends the statuses of the sensors to the Power2 for
processing. This works out the GateOK information which will be used in other functions.

Checking the platform load:

there are two sensors on the platform.
They are processed differently: this is carried out by both calculators:
– By the Power2 (platform calculator): it determines PlatformOverload information based on sensor
status. This information will be used by other functions, in particular to interrupt hydraulic movements
by forcing a 0 instruction on the distributor.
– By the SPU (EN15000 calculator): in the event of an overload, one of the two sensors imposes a ground

The maximum boom angle is 62° from the ground. In platform mode, in order to maintain this, the
boom rear incline angle calculated (in relation to the chassis) is added to the boom angle in relation to
the chassis.

Axle locking cylinder

In order to improve the machine’s lateral stability, two cylinders lock the chassis together with the rear
axle.

CONTROLLING MOVEMENTS

Controlling logic
The distributor is controlled based on user requests and prohibitions worked out in the management

80
module. In order to be controlled, a movement must be requested AND not prohibited. Movements
may be accumulated.

PVG Danfoss head power supply

When switching from ‘no movement controlled’ to ‘one or more movements controlled’, the Access
calculator powers the 3 PVG Danfoss heads for 1 second.
Otherwise, only the PVG corresponding to controlled movements are powered.

Distributor check
Position of the slide valves:
When a PVG head is powered, its ‘Status’ information is checked. If a position defect is detected, a PVG
Status Defect is set to 1. This information is used in movement prohibitions.
The defect is reset to 0 when no movement request is made at the console.

Power supplies:
The power supplies are diagnosed: CCgnd detection if active, CCVbat if inactive. If a defect is detected
on a power supply, the associated movement control is forced to 0.
647896EN
90 ELECTRICITY 80 (22/04/2020)

Controls
Each control signal for the PVG is checked. If the voltage of a signal is outside the range [25%; 75%] of
the supply voltage, the associated movement control is forced to 0.

CONTROLLING OTHER OUTPUTS

Hydraulic deflector
The deflector electro valve has 2 roles:
⇒ To supply hydraulic power to the electrical distributor when the HydraulicMode is ‘Console’
⇒ To cut off hydraulic power to the mechanical distributor when controlling the SV is prohibited
(see Table 1), when the HydraulicMode is ‘transport’ or ‘backup’.

Axle locking cylinder

The axle is locked when the machine is on stabilisers (StabsDown = True) and the stabiliser controls are
inactive. If the HydraulicMode is ‘ Console’ or ‘Backup’, the calculator forces the lock.

Horn
The machine’s horn must be able to be controlled from the console.
This requires the HydraulicMode to be in ‘Console’ mode and the Horn information from the console
must be 1.

Engine speed solenoid

In order to enable boom movements with the maximum authorised load (3T) and without any risk of
stalling, engine speed needs to be increased when movements are controlled from the platform
This is done only if the SolenoidRpmPresent option is True (to be determined with tests).

Starting/Stopping the engine

Start and stop control depend on the current HydraulicMode and the engine status:
