EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Research World Ylocos is a start-up bookstore in the Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is the goal of
the company management to acquire local market share in the used bookstore industry
through low price, a dominant selection of products, a competitive variety of services
including a buyback/trade program and hard to find book search, plus a relaxing, friendly
environment that encourages browsing and reading.

Research World Ylocos will be a limited liability corporation registered in the Philippines.
The company will be jointly owned by Ms. Pamela Joyce Riambon, a Chief Financial Officer
at BDO (Banco de Oro).

Ms. Riambon is establishing this firm as a growth-oriented endeavor to continue meeting

people with similar interests. Research World Ylocos will be establishing its store in one of
the most organized. This area is well known for its upscale residents and high-quality
establishments. Our facility is a former 8,000 square ft. furniture store which allows the
company to stock a large amount of inventory.
PRODUCTS/SERVICES

Research World Ylocos will offer a wide range of book, magazine, and music selections.
This includes just about every conceivable category including fiction, non-fiction, business,
science, children's, hobbies, collecting, and other types of books. Our music selection will
concentrate on CD's as these are the most popular and take up the least amount of floor space.
In addition, we will be offering a competitive buy and trade service to assist in lowering our
inventory acquisition costs and making our store more attractive to our customers. In
addition, we offer a search and order service for customer seeking to find hard to get items.
Flyleaf Books will have a relaxed "reading room" type atmosphere that we will encourage
through the placement of chairs, couches, etc.

The Research World Ylocos carries required textbooks and supplies, reference materials, a
selection of general interest and leisure reading material and local authors, computer
accessories, electronic items, such as batteries, Frostburg State memorabilia, imprinted
clothing & gifts, greeting cards, snack foods & cold beverages, room accessories, health &
beauty aids, laundry & cleaning supplies, and general, every day gifts. We like to think we
have everything you might need. We try to carry everything that you will need to be
academically successful during your time at Frostburg. And we carry products that are just
meant to make your life easier, to entertain you, or to help you relax. We also try to provide
services to make your life easier. As always, if you have suggestions for products that you'd
like us to carry or services you'd like us to provide, please let us know. For your convenience,
the University Store accepts cash, traveler's checks, personal checks, and credit cards
(MasterCard, Visa and Discover).
SWOT ANALYIS

STRENGTHS
Integrity, honesty and loyalty in the company.
Many sponsors and a reliable cash flow.
Good geographical location.
Intriguing ideas and solutions for every possible negative option.

WEAKNESSES
Book stores are becoming less and less popular with the integration of computer/internet
based libraries and resources.
The competitors are many and peoples images of bookstores are all the same, unique
bookstores are a rarity.

OPPORTUNITIES
To re-introduce the new world into the ancient art of book research and learning.
To meet new and exciting people who share the same for books as we at Research World
Ylocos do.
To give the name ‘bookstore’ a new image, one of freedom and fun. Where learning doesn’t
have to be a chore.

THREATS
Competition from other bookshop down the street.
Invasion of Reece’s bookshop customers assuming we provide the same service Reece does.
Deforestation wipes out books completely.
Hitler zombie recreates the holocaust.
