Topic: Home, sweet home


Aim:

 To develop monologue speech skills, describing rooms;


 to develop logical thinking, memory, imagination, pupils’ mental outlook
 to develop respect to own houses , tidiness and cultural traditions.

Equipment: course book, a laptop, audio and video recordings, pictures, cards for
individual working, cards for working in pairs and teams.

Plan

Greeting:

- Good morning boys and girls! Nice to meet you.

Formation of language environment.

-What holidays will we have soon? – New Year and Christmas.


– Right. And, tell me, please, what do you imagine, when you hear these
words “New Year and Christmas”? – Santa Claus, presents, sweets, Christmas
tree…etc.…
-Oh, of course. So, I propose to you to sing Christmas song “Jingle bells”
OK?...You are perfect!

Aim and motivation:

- Well, today we continue to talk about houses and describing rooms. And at the
end of our lesson, I hope, you’ll make your imagine room.

Ok. For today your home task was to repeat the words. And, f irst of all, let’s
remember the names of the rooms and furniture we have in our houses and flats and

practice your pronunciation,. Look at the screen and repeat after me.

[w] – wardrobe, washbasin, window, wall
[e] – bedroom, step, central

1. And now I propose to you a written task, which is called the "Secret Letters".
You have the card for individual working. Please, take your pens or pencils
and fill in the missing letters into the words. You have only one-two minutes.

I’ll describe different rooms and you must guess them and write down the
letter on your sheets of paper.

Examples:

1. This room is not very large. People take off their coats, hats, boots or shoes
there. There is usually a mirror there. ( a hall).

2. This room is not very large. We take a shower or have a bath in this room. You
can clean your teeth, wash your hands and face there. (a bathroom).
3. There are beds in this room. You can see a little table and a wardrobe there.
People have a restinthis room. (a bedroom).
4. There is a TV, some chairs and a sofa in this room. Some people have a
fireplace there. We can see some flowers on the walls. There is often carpet on
the floor. It is usually the largest room in the house. People watch television,
listen to music. (a living room).
5. Our mothers usually spend a lot of time there. We have a fridge, a sink, a table,
a cupboard in this room. (a kitchen).
6. People have breakfast, lunch, and dinner or drink tea in this room. There is a
big table and some chairs there. (dining room)

5. And now, I want to divide into teams. You’ll be the first team, the second,
the third. On your desks you have got cards with sentences. Look at them,
please. Read all the sentences. Now, l ook at the screen. You can see a
picture of living room. Now take your pens or pencils and circle the correct
preposition.

All of you have a map of a room. But this room is empty. You have also little
pieces of furniture. You must decorate the room and then each of your teams
