*** LESSON THREE . “ Los Artículos “ ( the articles ( dí áaticls ) ): Hay dos tipos de artículos en el Idioma Inglés : el
indeterminado y el determinado ( the indetermined and the determined (dí indetemind and dí detemind ) ).
1. El artículo indeterminado : “a” ( é ) y “an” ( én ).
FORMAS : * El artículo indeterminado “a “( é ) se usa delante de palabras que comienzan con consonantes : a
cup ; a game ; a branch.
• “ a “ también se usa delante de palabras que empiezan con “ u “ , cuando la “ u “ se pronuncia como la
palabra “ you “ : a university ; a unión.
• “ an “ se usa delante de palabras que comienzan con vocal : an arm ; an old boat.
• “ an “ también se usa delante de palabras que comienzan con una “ h “ muda : an honour ; an hour ;
an owl.
USO : * “ a “ y “ an ” solo se usan con nombres contables en singular : ( los nombres contables son aquellos que
tienen forma singular y plural ) delante de los nombres contables se pueden usar “ a “ , the , some ó un número.
• “ a “ y “ an “ se utilizan para referirse a una cosa o persona por primera vez : Adam has bought a new car.
Nota : ten cuidado de no confundir “a “ y “ an “ con el numeral “ one “. Compara : A car is no good . We need a
Van / One car is no good . We need two or three.
Ejemplo : Some men ( san men ) = algunos hombres. ; Some women ( san uimen) = algunas mujeres ; Some apples
( san appols ) = algunas manzanas.
Forma : * “ the ” es el artículo determinado que se usa con todos nombres : the table ; the world ; the glass ; the
horse ; the Wall.
USO : * “ The “ se usa para indicar que la persona o cosa , a la que se acompaña es un ejemplo específico : Tom
dropped a book and a pen . The pen is Green.
• “ the “ se utiliza cuando la persona o cosa a la que nos referimos sólo hay una : Lucy met the Queen ; The
sun is shining .
B) Son Femeninos solamente los que se refieren a mujeres o animales de sexo femenino . Ejemplo : the woman =
la mujer ; the Mare = La Yegua .
C) Todos los demás son neutros , hasta los niños de cuna y los animales inferiores como los insectos . Ejemplo :
The Baby = El Bebé ; the butterfly = La Mariposa .
Ejemplo : the horse = the horses (dí jorses ) ; the dog = the dogs ( di dogs ) ; the potato = the potatoes ( di poteitou )
; the box = the boxes ( di boxes )
**Hay unos plurales irregulares y aquí aparecen los mas frecuentes , que se deben aprender de memorias ( se
van a interrogar estudiar )
*Hombre = man ( man ) , Hombres = men ( men ) ; *Mujer = woman ( uman ) , Mujeres = women ( uimen ) ;
*Diente = Tooth ( tuz ) , Dientes = Teeth ( tíiz ) ; *Niño = child ( chaild) , Niños = children ( children ) ; *Pie = Foot (
fut ) , Pies = Feet ( fiit )
r ) ; 5. Here ( jíar ) = aquí ; 6. Sister ( síster ) = hermana ; 7. Blue ( blúu ) = Azul ; 8. Fork ( fóork ) = Tenedor ; 9. Sisters
( sisters) = Hermanas ; 10. Europe ( iúrop ) = Europa ; 11. In ( én ) = En , Dentro de ; 12. Son ( sán ) = Hijo ; 13. Light (
láit ) = Luz , liviano , iluminar , encender ; 14. Little ( lítel ) = poco, pequeño .

I am a boy = I´m a boy ; You are a girl = You´re a girl , He is a man = He´s a man ; She is a woman = She´s a
woman ; we are students = we´re a students ; they are teachers
