Question: my heart feels harder than a rock, any advice?

All praise and thanks belongs to Allah, peace, mercy and blessing of Allah
be upon our Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) whom Allah send to us to purify our
hearts, and

Beautiful question my dear brother, know that its a must that we purify
our hearts and you being concerned about it is a good sign, may Allah
purify your and our heart and make it sound, amen

Allah(Subhanahu wa Ta'la) said in Quran Surah As-Shuara 87-89:

and Prophet(pbuh) said:

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“People whose hearts are like the hearts of birds will enter Paradise.”
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2840

We must strive to purify our hearts as from it come intenton, and reward
for our deeds based on intention, as if our intention is wrong we will
not get reward for our good deeds and beside this we will be committing
shirk because we did a deed which should be done for the sake of
Allah, for the sake of other than him and that will leads us to hellfire

Verily, in the body is a piece of flesh which, if sound, the entire body
is sound, and if corrupt, the entire body is corrupt. Truly, it is the
heart.

and forbidding them from committing evil. This is how their hearts will
be purified and cleansed of the sin and evil that used to fill them when
they were disbelievers and ignorant.

Anas narrated:
"The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) would often say: Ya Muqallibal-qulub,
thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik('O Changer of the Hearts! Strengthen my heart
upon Your Religion.)' So I said: 'O Prophet of Allah! We believe in you
and what you have come with, but do you fear for us?' He said: 'Yes.
Indeed the hearts are between two Fingers of Allah's Fingers, He changes
them as He wills.'" (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2140)

its important for us to know reason of our heart becoming hard:

1.hearts gets sick and hard because of the sins that we commit:
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be
upon him, said, “Verily, when the servant commits a sin, a black mark
appears upon his heart. If he abandons the sin, seeks forgiveness, and
repents, then his heart will be polished. If he returns to the sin, the
blackness will be increased until it overcomes his heart. It is the
covering that Allah has mentioned: No, rather a covering is over their
hearts from what they have earned.” (83:14) (Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3334)

regarding this verse 83:14

No, rather a covering is over their hearts from what they have earned.”
Al-Hasan (Al-Basrī) said, “It is because of doing one sin after another,
until the heart becomes blind and dies.”
Qatādah also said, “It is because of doing one sin after another, one sin
after another, until the heart dies and becomes black.”
Ibn Zayd said, “Their sins overcome their hearts until no good can get
through to them.”
Mujāhid explained, “They used to consider the heart like a hand: when a
person sins, his heart starts to scrunch up,” and he folded his little
finger, “and when he does another sin,” he folded the next finger and
continued until he had his fist clenched. “Then a seal is placed over it,
and they used to say that this is the ‘covering’.”
Al-Tabarī in his Tafsīr, Sūrah Al-Mutaffifīn.

in another ayah 5:13:

But for breaking their covenant We condemned them and hardened their
hearts. They distorted the words of the Scripture and neglected a portion
of what they had been commanded to uphold. You ˹O Prophet˺ will always
find deceit on their part, except for a few. But pardon them and bear
with them. Indeed, Allah loves the good-doers

It is reported that Qatādah – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

Verily the Qurān guides you to your disease and your treatment: as
for your disease, it is your sins; and as for your treatment, it is to
seek the forgiveness of Allāh.
Al-Bayhaqī, Shuʿab Al-Īmān 9:347 no. 6745.

It is reported that Makḥūl – Allāh have mercy on him – said, “The people
with the softest hearts are those who sin the least.”
Abū Nu’aym, Ḥilyah Al-Awliyā` Vol. 2 p344.

It is reported that ‘Awn b. ʿAbdillāh, the ascetic and jurist, said, “Sit
with the repentant, for they have the softest hearts.”
Abū Nu’aym, Ḥilyah Al-Awliyā` Vol. 2 p192.

someone who often makes mistakes, often has wrong actions. The Fire has a

these are some of reasons that hardens the heart and the main reason

forgiveness of Allah and leave haram, and here are some ways of curing
