their teenage age, I did also distribute 10 questionnaires to the youths of Wusakile
Township.
Lastly I interviewed civic leaders which included the area councilor and the
representative of the area member of parliament. Nurses and teachers were also
interviewed so as to get more data from different participants in their respective
aspects.

DATA INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS.
According to the findings it's clear that the cases of teenage pregnancy in Wusakile
Township have been rapidly increasing for the past three years as fig 1.1 shows
and this has been caused by the following factors...
1. CAUSES OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY WUSAKILE TOWNSHIP.
Poverty.
Many residents of Wusakile Township are poor, they do not manage to get what
they need to use on a daily basis, now this makes young girls to engage themselves
into prostitution and since they are able to reproduce they fall pregnant at a very
tender age.
Peer pressure.
Fig 1.2 shows that peer pressure also causes teenage pregnancy. Most ladies,
young ones of course, they are being pressurized by fellow peers to start selling
their bodies for sex and in return, men who sleeps with them gives them money.
Since, some of these young ladies wants to have money at all cost, they agree to
this and in the process they get pregnant because of peer pressure.
Early marriages.
Early marriages also contribute to the rising cases of teenage pregnancy as fig 1.2
shows, many teens are sent into marriages and since they are able to reproduce
they fall pregnancy for their husbands..
Sexual violence.
Wusakile Township is one of the townships in Kitwe that are characterized by a lot
of criminalities and sexual violence is one of them as fig 1.2 shows. YOUNG girls
are abused by men who take advantage of their vulnerability, some young ladies
just get raped and usually what happens is that they fall pregnant and that leads to
high cases of teenage pregnancy that are been recorded in the study area.
The findings that I found in the same field, Revealed similar effects and they
included the following:
Overpopulation.
The population of Wusakile is said to be higher than other townships in Kitwe and
this is because many teens are giving birth and by the time they reach their old age,
many kids are being born by them which causes the population to grow rapidly and
in turn it causes pressure on governmental facilities such as schools and clinics as
fig 1.3 shows, Because in clinics when these young mothers take their kids for
under five checkups, The health workers at the facility, tend to work under
pressure as they have to attend to many kids as possible in a short given time.
When it comes to schools it is even worse because the available infrastructure can't
accommodate many pupils at once, hence they are forced to over enroll because of
too many people wanting to enroll their kids.
Emotional problems.
Most of these teens who fall pregnant, experience a lot of emotional problems such
as depression as fig 1.3 shows. Most of the times men who impregnates these
teens, refuse to take up responsibilities, which causes these young expecting
mothers to start worrying as they don't know what will happen to their kids, how
they will afford to provide what is needed for them to grow health. All these issues
makes these teen to be depressed.
Provision of employment by building up industries near the study area can help the
residents to start providing for their families and in turn this can keep away teen
age girls from engaging into prostitution for a living thereby preventing them to get
pregnant
The area was too big, this made me experience some financial problems .
The rains and dogs at some of the correspondents, created a barrier for me
to interact well with participants.
Some residents couldn't read the question arises therefore I had to read for
them
Some of the participants were busy at the agreed time and I had to make
several trips to their houses.
Power outages during my research were encountered that made me to
finish this study late.
CONCLUSIONS & EVALUATIONS.
The aim and objectives of this study have been achieved and they have really
shown that it is true there is rapid increase in cases of teenage pregnancy. Starting
from the causes that included poverty, early marriages e.t.c. To the negative effects
such as ; Overpopulation and poverty e.t.c. And lastly the solutions that were
suggested by people e.g Provision of family planning kits, Arresting of all
