Lab: Dichotic Listening

Data Analysis

For the following analyses, use the Dichotic-Listening-Data.sav file on Moodle.


• Create a separate document (e.g., Google Doc or Word Doc) and provide all of your answers
there using the format described in the step-by-step guides provided on Moodle).
• Save the file as Module-7-Analysis and deposit this file in the appropriate link on Moodle when
complete.

1. Identify the 1 true IV and the 1 quasi-IV, the dependent variable (DV), and the design (between-
subjects or within-subjects for the true IV and the quasi-IV).

2. Create a bar graph that displays the mean number correct for right and left conditions. In accordance
with the SPSS Procedures guides provided on Moodle, (a) edit your bar graph in SPSS and (b) add the bar
graph and a proper title to your Google/Word doc.

3. Determine the appropriate t-test to compare the mean number correct for the right and left
conditions and then run it in SPSS.

4. In accordance with the step-by-step guides provided on Moodle, write 2-3 sentences that summarize
the results of your analysis. Place this below the bar graph on your Google/Word doc.

5. Create a bar graph that displays the mean number correct for just the right condition as a function of
gender (female vs. male). In accordance with the SPSS Procedures guides provided on Moodle, (a) edit
your bar graph in SPSS and (b) add the bar graph and a proper title to your Google/Word doc.

6. Determine the appropriate t-test to compare the mean number correct for just the right condition as
a function of gender and then run it in SPSS.

7. In accordance with the step-by-step guides provided on Moodle, write 2-3 sentences that summarize
the results of your analysis. Place this below the bar graph on your Google/Word doc.
