| My philosophy
During 2020's lockdowns, I did a lot of personal projects with my daughter and I realised that I wanted
my work to focus primarily on motherhood and family. I feel incredibly connected to mothers & expecting
mums due to my upbringing and my own experience into motherhood. Motherhood is the most
transformative and empowering event of my life. And every time I look at my daughter I am reminded of
that.
I want to help mums to be more in the "frames" with their children (instead of a quick selfie as we all do)
to create a beautiful legacy for them so they can have tangible printed memories.
Because when we are gone, this is all that will be left of us for them.
| Newborn session
During a newborn session, I capture photos that look and feel natural. It is all about connections, warmth
& textures.
My aim is always to capture images that have the power to transport you. So I focus on little details, little
fingers, toes, lips, eye lashes because everything is so tiny and will change so quickly. I also focus on the
parents' hands on the baby because in the beginning this is what the baby grabs first - our fingers, our
hands and sometimes even Mama’s hair.
My newborn sessions are organic and I always follow the baby's needs. I cover the following in different
order depending on your baby's energy - focusing on baby (photos on a beanbag close to a window,
breastfeeding with mummy (if this is a memory you want), resting in daddy's or close to your heart) and
then capturing connection between the family (together and with each of you) but it is completely organic
and it is your baby that sets the tone of the session as I follow his energy really.
| Location
Newborn sessions can take place at my studio or at your home. My studio is a natural light studio so I
usually shoot between 10.30 am and 2.15 pm in winter time. If our session takes place at
your house, I would also rely on natural light and on the day of our session, I will assess what rooms work
best. I have throws and wraps and a sheer curtain to diffuse the light and block unpleasant background.
Most of my newborn sessions take place at the studio but I also love shooting at new parents' homes as
well. It often feels more natural and comfortable to shoot at your home. So this is entirely up to your
preference. I have also had some sessions outdoors with a young baby but it is usually either at sunrise or
sunset to have the softest light as possible and also to work in manageable heat or cold.
The best is to have a chat to discuss your preferred option.
| Styling
Once we have decided on the location, we will discuss what to wear, the best tones and colours. The
styling is as important as the location.
| Delivery
After our session (within 7-10 days), I deliver you a full gallery of images with a light edit and watermarked
for you to select your images depending on the package you choose. Usually I edit the images & deliver
your gallery ready for download within 4-6 weeks of our session (unless indicated otherwise).
You will select the images you want me to edit fully through my online gallery and once my final invoice
has been settled, you will be able to download the high resolution images (without a watermark) directly
from the gallery.
Please remember to download & save your images within 6 weeks of the link being sent to you. After that
period, there is a flat fee to retrieve the images for you as the images will be archived for 12 months before
they are deleted from my drives.
| End Note
It always feels like such a unique experience to meet new parents or parents with their new family member
during a newborn session. This always takes me back to my own journey into motherhood and how
incredible this journey turned out to be. I would love to capture this new chapter of your family into
parenthood.
Please remember that my calendar gets booked up quickly and that I only book a few newborn sessions
each month as they take longer than my family sessions so do not wait the last minute to book your
session.
