BỘ ĐỀ DỰ ĐOÁN IELTS SPEAKING

QUÝ 1/ 2022 (THÁNG 1-2-3-4)

1. Home/ accommodation
What kind of housing/accommodation do you live in?
I live in a terraced house that has a living room, a kitchen, three bed rooms, two
bathrooms and a lovely back garden. It’s not really a spacious house, but it’s
just right for me and my family.
Who do you live with?
I live with my parents and my brother. We always get on well with each other
and have a lot of fun.
How long have you lived there?
I’ve lived there since I was a child, until I graduated from high school and
moved to the city to enroll at university, where I lived in a student dormitory
during the semester
What’s the difference between where you are living now and where you
have lived in the past?
Living in a dorm with other roommates is totally different from living in my
own house. My current residential area is quite small and it’s very noisy because
there are a lot of people there and I don’t have my own space. Conversely, when
I was living at home, I had my own spacious room and it made me feel
comfortable.
Do you plan to live there for a long time?
To be honest, I intend to buy an apartment in an urban area after I graduate from
university. I can decorate and design my ideal home with whatever facilities I
want.
Which room does your family spend most of the time in?
It’s definitely the kitchen. Not only lunch or dinner time but all our family
reunions take place in the kitchen where all the family members get together to
eat tasty meals, and chat to each other – it’s a really harmonious atmosphere.
Are the transport facilities to your home very good?
To be honest, most of the transport facilities to my place are not very modern.
The bus service from my work place to home is irregular and usually
overcrowded.
Do you prefer living in a house or a flat?
I prefer living in a house to a flat because I value my privacy and need my own
space. Owning an independent house, I can plan and design a house layout to
suit myself. Moreover, I can modify a house according to the size of the family.
Please describe the room you live in.
My current room is actually more like a bedsit. It is a multi – purpose room, I
use it to sleep and study as well. It is painted in pink, that’s my favorite color
with a bed, a cupboard and desk. It’s not really spacious but it’s just right for
me.
What part of your home do you like the most ?

z
I prefer my bedroom most due to its convenience and privacy. Because of my
stressful work I want to be in a quiet place and concentrate on my work. In my
own room, I’m never disturbed by anyone else. Moreover, in my own space I
can do whatever I want without bothering others.
2. Study
Describe your education
I started primary school when I was 7. 5 years later, I went to secondary school
at 12. Then
at 16, I made it to a high school for gifted students in my hometown. In my
country,
highschool education lasts 3 years, then I went onto higher education at the
Foreign Trade
University where I’m currently studying economics.

What is your area of specialization?

Well, my major is External Economics. I have mastered the basics of economics
and socio-
economics, combined with business knowledge mainly related to the import and
export
business.

Why did you choose to study that major?

I think it would help to fulfill my dream of introducing my country’s
agricultural products
to the world. Vietnamese goods have a real potential, but they still struggle to
make a name
for themselves, you know.

Do you like your major? (Why?/Why not?)

Yes, of course. Studying economics, especially external economics is
interesting and
practical. It helps me to keep up with current affairs and it improves my
analytical and
problem-solving skills as well.

What kind of school did you go to as a child?

As a child, I attended a public elementary school. It’s quite a big school in my
hometown
which provides both high quality education and a supportive environment, so I
think I was
quite lucky.

What was your favourite subject as a child?

z
Well, I used to be very passionate about drawing when I was a little girl. It was
fun to work
with brushes and colors, you know, as it was the time when I could indulge in
my own
creative world.

7/ Do you think your country has an effective education system?

Frankly speaking, I don’t think so. Our education system still cares too much
about achievements and focuses on an exam-driven curriculum, which I find
unduly stressful for both teachers and students.

8/ (Possibly) Are you looking forward to working?

Absolutely! It’s great to join the workforce, especially when I can do the job I
love. Not only will it pay the bills, but it’ll also give me the joy of making a
contribution. It’s hard to be happy and fullfiled without working.

4. Weekend
1. What do other people in your hometown usually do on weekends?
I spend my weekends in different ways. Sometimes I just relax at home.
Sometimes I go out with my friends for a movie. Sometimes I finish my
pending work. Sometimes I help my mother in household chores.

2. What will you do next weekend?

First, I like to sleep a little later than normal, just because it’s more relaxing not
to have to get up early like I usually do, but I don’t like getting up too late in the
day because then I feel like I’ve wasted some of the weekend. I also like to have
lunch or at least one meal with my parents over the weekend, depending on
what I’m doing, and what their plans are.

Last weekend I went for a movie with my friends. We also had dinner at a

Answer 1:
Well, frankly speaking, I have never bought any mirrors in my entire life. This

not that obsessed with mirrors. I would never bring one with me.

4. Would you use mirrors to decorate your room?

I thought about it once long time ago, but the idea was rejected by my mother
due to some local believes that having mirrors in bedrooms could bring bad
luck or something. Therefore, I’ve never decorated my rooms with mirrors and
use framed paintings instead.

5. Do you think mirrors are necessary ornaments?

Personally, I would say Yes. A house is incomplete without a mirror. However,

it is often for personal use only, simply because mirrors are often hung on walls
in the bathroom or in the bedroom.

well, in my room, mirror is attached to the wardrobe, so it is convenient to

stand contemplating myself in the mirror when trying on clothes.

Because we rely more on APPs of communication in smartphones, they are
more instant, more convenient, and they will be more popular.

z
2. How often do you write an email or a letter?
Apart from these, I do get mails regarding work, so our team is mostly in touch

no point of any other interaction online. I do reply to mails that are regarding
work or sometimes chat with people on google hangouts.

3. What kinds of email (or letter) you received that make you feel

2. What’s your routine like in your everyday study?

Occasionally for my daydreams. Haha. As I said, I don’t usually remember my
dreams other than nightmares and obviously I don’t want nightmares to come
true.

3. Do you share your dreams with others? or are you interested in

others’ dreams?
I think I'd keep the scary ones, like nightmares, or the weird ones to

No, not really. I just wear red clothes in when I’m not in a good mood, which
gives me

our lives is significantly important.

that.

3. What should celebrities do to protect their privacy?

privacy between them and people trying to find out where they live, such as
paparazzi or overly dedicated fans.

creative person. I’d rather say that I have an imaginative mind
2. Is it good for children to learn arts?
Yes, it is very good for children to learn arts. Arts bring out their
creativity and break the monotony of tough academic studies. Arts
also keep children in touch with their culture and tradition.
3. What kind of jobs require people to be creative?
I think all jobs require people to be creative. If people are not
creative, then their job may become dull and boring after just a few
days. If any job has to be done over and over again, then some
element of creativity has to be added to it. For example, an engineer
needs to think of new ways to do things; the plumber needs to learn
new things every day to make his work better and simpler, a
carpenter needs to learn new ways of doing things that can add
grace to his work, a teacher has to bring up innovative methods to
teach so that children don’t get bored.

Part 3(39)
1. Do you have any foreign friends and do you think having foreign
friends is a good way to know other countries?

z
Yes of course. Although we may have seen and known about other places through
TV or social media, there is nothing quite like talking to a local about their
experience. It’s a way of seeing another culture live and breathe through
an authentic lens. You really get to see what is behind the facade.

2. Do you think it's important to know the culture and language before
going to another country?
It is no doubt a yes. Without language, you cannot communicate with the locals- this
makes living there a total hassle. Some may argue that English is all we need since
it’s now the lingua franca, however, in countries such as Japan, Germany or China,
the majority of citizens don’t use English so you should learn some Japanese or
German before you go there.

3 What do you think of people who work in international companies?

In my country, they are seen as having lucrative professions and are
regarded as highly skilled labourers because they can work and
communicate with foreigners. In order to work in an international
environment, they ought to have great language skill and also
excellent cultural sensitivity.

4. What abilities do people need to have when working in an international

company?
Apart from what I’ve just mentioned, being technologically literate is
needed here. They have to communicate with their partners and co-
workers overseas so they have to send hundreds of emails every month.
Knowing your way around with a computer really helps.

4. Do you think leaders need to have creative ability?

Creativity is one of the most important characteristics of an effective leader and fosters a
successful and healthy workplace environment. Creativity opens up opportunities in problem-
solving, achieving goals, and inspiring teams to be creative and find unlikely perspectives

Part3:( ( 48)
1. Do you think older people and younger people will use the same kind
of social media software?
No, younger people prefer the newer Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat
platforms. These are new apps, and their short viral videos are very
popular among youth. Younger people rapidly adapt to these new
apps, use them for a few years, and then may move to something new
next whereas older people are still mainly using Facebook, youtube
and WhatsApp, etc

2. Do older people spend much time on social media?

z
Older people have started to use more social media but mainly for
keeping in touch with family and friends. Their children are busy with
their families and jobs and there is less face-to-face interaction these
days. They can get lonely, so they mainly use it for passing the time
when they are bored.

2. Describe a time when you felt proud of a family member

You should say:
When it happened
Who the person is
What the person did
And explain why you felt proud of him/her
40. Describe a businessman you admire
You should say:
Who this person is
How you knew this person
What kinds of business this person does
And explain why you admire this person

1. When would parents feel proud of their children?

Parents feel proud of their children when they meet and achieve their goals. It
can be getting good grades in school, getting into the sports team, graduating
from college, and getting their first job, etc. For younger children parents are

z
proud when they achieve tiny milestones like saying their first word, taking
their first step, tying their shoelaces by themselves, etc.
2. Should parents reward children? Why and how?
Yes, parents should reward children for their achievements and hard work. It
encourages them to continue doing it and makes them feel good about them
themselves. Instead of giving material goods as rewards, parents should reward
children by praising them, letting them do a favourite activity, or spending more
time with them.
3. Is it good to reward children too often? Why?
I don’t think parents should reward children too often as it can make them feel
entitled. Buying them toys, gadgets as rewards can make them materialistic.
Younger kids may become too focused on the reward and forget about the
reason they are being rewarded for. They can even start negotiating with parents
for every small task they do.
4. On what occasions would adults be proud of themselves?
Adults have many occasions when they are proud of themselves, like a
promotion at their job, buying their first home, getting their children into good
schools, doing social work like helping others or a friend in need, etc.
Part 3 (40)
1. What do you think is the retirement age for men and women?
Interestingly, the retirement age for men and women is a bit different in
some places. Sometimes people may take early retirement and in many
cases, they continue throughout the entire working tenure. But most of
the countries follow the rule that they allow retirement after or by 60
years of age.
2. What qualities do people need to run their own business?
I think the prime quality is financial management because ultimately, the success of any
business depends upon whether it is profitable or not. Besides that, people need to have good
leadership qualities, and they must be able to delegate responsibilities effectively. A lot of
people who get anxious about delegating responsibilities are not able to grow.
3. What do you think are key factors the contribute to the success of a business?
I think many factors determine whether a business would be successful or not, and the
importance of factors varies according to the type of business. For example, a successful
restaurant needs a good location, good quality service, and tasty food more than anything
else. In general, I would say if the business is providing a product that has a demand and only
the particular company can provide it, it is going to be successful.
4. If you had the opportunity to open your own business, what would it be and why?
I am not very good with money management, so I think it would fail at running a business.
However, if I had to start one, it would be a bakery. I love to bake, so it would be following a
passion rather than running a business for me. And I have heard, if we are truly passionate
about something, it is hard to fail.

3. Describe a time when you gave some helpful advice to someone

z
You should say
Who you gave advice to?
What the advice was?
Why you gave the advice?
And how you felt about the advice?
One occasion I inspired my younger brother to keep a balance between study
and
extracurricular activities
 Last year, my younger brother entered the university as a freshman.
During this first year, I saw him always cramping for books + burying himself
with
exams
→ I chatted with him on Facebook, motivating him to find a happy medium
between
studying and doing voluntary work
 However, he was afraid that social activities would distract him from
schoolwork
→ couldn’t pass all exams with flying colours
+ Reasoning to persuade him:
 If students are up to their ears with academic lessons → stand a high chance
of
suffering from anxiety + tension
 Taking part in other tasks:
A method to let our hair down + escape the studying pressure
To have a wider circle of friends, sharpen interpersonal skills
Getting to know people from all walks of life → grasp the difficulty others have
to
cope with → have greater learning momentum to ensure a bright future
→ From my hands-on experience, I encouraged him with the prospect of he
becoming a well-rounded citizen
Part 3
1. What kind of advice do parents give to their children?
 Parents usually try to give life advice to their children
 They could give their kids some career advice if they’re confused about which
career path to follow
 They always instill in their children's minds that they have to study hard in order
to land a rewarding job in the future

2. How do experts give advice to others? (e.g a doctor gives advice to

patients
 Main idea 1: Offer information about the options
 Supporting idea: To offer expertise in a way that's truly helpful,
experts usually inform the person about the decision at hand by telling them

z
what experts know about their options, possibly offering a recommendation,
then let them use that information to make a sound decisionExample:
 Main idea 2: Help think through the problem
 Supporting idea:
 Instead of imposing experts' opinion, they will try to guide people through the
process they might use to reach a conclusion.
 That approach will help build problem-solving skills that translate to future
dilemmas.

3. What advice do parents give to teenagers about making friends?

 Main idea 1: Talk about the value of honesty
 Supporting idea: Encourage teens to make friends with people they can trust and
be honest with
 Example:
 Main idea 2: Help teenagers to bond with others over common interests.
 Supporting idea:
 Encourage teens to invite friends home to play video games or watch films.
 Find out what clubs, youth groups, sports or school holiday programs teens can
join

4. Whose advice is more helpful? Parents’ or friends’?

Parents and grandparents probably have more life experience than a friend, and
so you might get a wiser or more sensible answer from them. On the other hand,
friends are less likely to become too worried if you go to them with a problem

4. Describe a time when you had to do something difficult, and you succeeded
You should say:
What is was
How you did/completed it
Why it was difficult
And how you felt about doing it
38. Describe a difficult decision that you once made
You should say:
What the decision was
When you made your decision
How long it took to make the decision
And explain why it was difficult to make

z
1. What kinds of jobs require people to be confident?
I think all jobs require a certain degree of confidence but the ones which involve
dealing with customers require a lot more confidence. For example, if a
salesperson is not confident enough, then he will not be able to convince the
customers about the product he/she is trying to sell.
2. On what occasions should children be encouraged? How?
I think children should be encouraged in those situations where they feel
hesitant in doing something that is good for them. But also, the encouragement
should be done to a certain limit, they should not feel like something is being
forced upon them. For example, we can encourage children to learn something
creative such as painting if they show interest in it. And to encourage them
more, parents can take them to a museum so they can develop their interest
further
3. How do you help children stay focused?
There are many ways in which children can be helped. First of all, one can
provide them an environment which is free of distractions, like when they are
studying, they should not be allowed to use cellphones. Another way to help
them focus would be to teach them about meditation, in which they have to
focus on their breath or a single sound.
4. What challenges do young people face today?
Well, I think there are two main challenges that young people face these days.
The first one is related to the mind and mental health. Nowadays everyone is
aware of the rise in depression and suicide cases among the youth. Another
challenge faced by them is the ever-increasing competition in education or their
professional lives.
Part 3 (38)

z
1. What decisions do people generally make in their daily life?
We are always making decisions in our life. People make decisions
about small things like what to eat, what to wear when to do
something, and what to watch. Our whole life is nothing but the
millions of decisions we take every day.
2. Which is easier, making a decision by oneself or making a
decision after a group discussion?
It is definitely easier to make a decision after a group discussion
because we have the advantage of knowing different perspectives
on the issue. However, I also believe that we should not get
influenced by others and listen to our gut feelings when finally
making decisions.
3. Why are many young people unwilling to listen to their parent’s
advice?
I think many young people think that their parent’s thinking might
be outdated for today’s time. Also, in general, young people, by
nature, have a problem listening to figures of authority.
4. Why do middle-aged people tend to second guess their decision?
I think second-guessing has nothing to do with age. We all tend to
second guess our decisions when it’s a difficult decision and when
we are not confident about the decision. I think the best way to
avoid second-guessing or rethinking the decision is to limit the
choices and discuss it with close friends and family members.

4. Describe a historical event from your country

You should say:
What event it is
When it happened
Who or what was involved in it
And explain why you think it is an important historical event

Well, honestly speaking,I suppose history is not my favourite thing because its

theoretical knowledge and figures frequently nutted me when I was at the high
school. But,there is only a historical event I reckon the most intriguing that the
battle of Dien Bien Phu.
Without dout to say that, I’m proudly talking about some highlights of the battle
now.It can be defined as the climatic confrontation of the first Indochina war
between the French invaders and Viet Minh communists in Viet Nam.The battle
was in the period of March and May in 1954 and culminated in a
comprehensive French defeat that exerted a detrimental effect on mutual

z
negotiations underway at Geneva among several nations over the future of
Indochina
.The Viet Minh in command of general Vo Nguyen Giap immediately took
actions to besiege the enemies..Supplies and reinforcement were sent by
air, though as the key French positions were demolished, the air resupplied on
which the French had been hopeless. The garrison was conquered in May after a
two-month siege and the French forces surrended.Briefly, this battle became a
turning point in Vietnamese history as The war was brought into a halt and
French withdrew from Viet Nam.Vietnamese constantly turned back in their
freedom and Personally i take a great pride over this victory and our
undefeatable heroes of our ancestor in the magnanimous past.

Part3:
1. Do your parents think learning history is important?
They believe that knowing about our nation’s history is neccessary to
appreciate the freedoms and rights that we have now since out ancestors
fought for them.Futhermore my parents also fins it important to
understand our past ways of living and see how they have developed over
many centuries.
2. What are the benefits of museums?
Because of the existence of museums, we get to widen our understanding of culture, history,
and traditions. Also, museums will always have a role in educating the future generations,
making them understand how their history was formed, and that'll surely teach them to be
appreciative of the life that they have.

3. Are museums in your country free of charge?

In my countruy there are two ways museums get their funding. There are
museums that are oowned and supportef by the government and there are
museums that are privately owned and operated. The museums that are
state run are free of charge wheares those that are privately run require a
fee for entry
4. Which way is better for learning history? Through reading books or
visiting museums?
Museums are probably better for learning because they’re more interactive,
visual, and allow you to sort of wander between exhibits, rather than reading
everything in order, like you have to do with a book.

5. Do major cities in your country all have museums?

Definitely. I think almost major city in the world has museums. It’s a natural
instinct for humans to collect things and try to remember their history and
their culture

z
5. Describe a place in the countryside that you visited
You should say:
Where it is
When you visited this place
What you did there
And explain how you feel about this place
37. Describe a bicycle/motorcycle/car trip you would like to go
You should say:
Who you would like to go with
Where you would like to go
When you would like to go
And explain why you would like to go by bicycle/motorcycle/car
41. Describe a place you visited on vacation
You should say:
Where it is
When you went there
What you did there
And explain why you went there
20. Describe a time you visited a new place
You should say:
Where the new place is
When you went there
Why you went there
And explain how you feel about the place

Waking up to a daily nine to five job and dealing with all the heavy workloads
everyday will surely drive you insane someday unless you have a healthy way
to relieve stress and boredom. Fortunately, I have my own cure – a retreat to
Hoa Lac, a mountainous area, which I have taken every once in a while,
whenever life is giving me a hard time. Hoa Lac is located about 1,500 m above
sea level, which is well-known for its year-round cool weather. It’s not the
destination of choice of many people but it is a favorite place for some locals or
tourists looking for a tranquil place to get away from their tight schedules.
Since it’s not very far from the city center, only an hour if traveling by car, I go
there quite often, around 4 times per year. And every trip holds its own
fascination depending on what activities I participate in. Normally, I would go
trekking into the wild to burn up my energy and enjoy the feeling of being
physically exhausted. It makes me feel alive and rejuvenated again.
Sometimes when I feel like pushing myself to the limit, extreme sports such
as water sliding or cliff jumping are my favorites. Those kinds of entertainment
require good health condition and adventurous spirit, hence, they’re not for
everyone. I usually spend 3 days in Hoa Lac everytime I visit it and although

z
it’s only a short time, I do feel some of the burdens I shoulder are swept away
and am prepared to face whatever comes next.

Part3( 5)
1. Is there anything special about the countryside in Vietnam?
Main idea 1: picturesque beauty
with traditional architecture
 Supporting idea:
 A number of picturesque terraced fields will be found scattered across the village
where people grow rice and corn for a living
 Inside the house, there is a worshipping space, a storage floor, a sleeping area, a
kitchen and a space for guest welcoming.

2. What do people usually do when going to the countryside?

People usually think there’s not much to do in the countryside, but that’s not the
case at all. If anything, there’s a lot more to do there than in the city. Some of the
things I quite enjoy doing whenever I find myself in the countryside are feeding the
animals, going long walks and stargazing. But honestly, I think the best thing to do in
the countryside is to do nothing at all; just unplug, relax and enjoy the leisurely
pace of life.

3. Do you think people will live in the countryside in the future?

Part 3(37)
1. WHY DO MORE AND MORE PEOPLE DRIVE PRIVATE CARS ?
More and more people drive private cars because they are a very convenient option for
transportation. Private cars offer more flexibility because you can pack them full if you’re
moving to a new home or packing for a long trip, or you can drive multiple people at once.
You can’t do that with a motorcycle or a bike. Also, if you don’t own a private car, you may
have to rely on public transportation or taxis to get around, which can be unreliable because
you need to wait for them to come to you.

2. WHICH FORM OF VEHICLE IS MORE POPULAR IN YOUR COUNTRY, BIKES,

CARS OR MOTORCYCLES?
Well, given the traffic of most cities in China, cycling is still the most popular mode of
transportation. It’s true that a lot more Chinese families can afford cars, but driving a private
car can be a pain in the neck because of things like parking, insurance and the risk of
accidents. But if you ride, you won’t have most of those concerns, so most people still prefer
using bikes to go somewhere if it’s not too far. Plus, bike sharing has swept across China,
which means it’s easy and dirt-cheap to rent a bike for a trip.

3. DO YOU THINK AIR POLLUTION COMES MOSTLY FROM MOBILE VEHICLES?

No, I don’t think that mobile vehicles are the leading cause of air pollution. They definitely
contribute a lot to the problem, and we need to cut the use of mobile vehicles down wherever
possible. But I think that a lot of air pollution comes from ships and trains and other forms of

z
transportation as well. Factories also cause a ton of air pollution. You can see all the dark
smoke that comes out of them.

4. DO YOU THINK PEOPLE NEED TO CHANGE THE WAY OF TRANSPORTATION

DRASTICALLY TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT?
No, I don’t think it’s worth it to change a lot about how people get around. After all, even if
all of humanity stops using all kinds of transportation that consume fossil fuels, global
warning won’t get better because the damage has already done. Besides, instead of
subverting the transportation system, some minor improvements of people’s choices for
transportation will help reduce tons of carbon dioxide emissions) and buying electric cars.

5. HOW ARE THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS IN URBAN AREAS AND RURAL

AREAS DIFFERENT?
As far as I know, urban and rural communities are extremely different when it comes
to transportation systems. Compared with rural areas, urban areas are densely populated and
have more developed infrastructure, so urban residents have easier access to a network of
public transit. But you’ll never see a public transportation that good in villages. People who
live in the countryside normally ride a bike or just walk places within the … as the
residential area of a rural neighborhood can be very small

Part 3 (42)
1. What are some popular attractions that people like to visit in your
country?
India is a huge country and it has a long cultural history. As such,
there are a lot of tourist attractions that people like to visit. These
include shrines, forts, parks, restaurants, and museums. Every place
has its own popular attractions. In Punjab, the popular ones are
Golden Temple, Science City Kapurthala, Rose Garden, Sukhna
Lake, and so on.
2. Do old people and young people like to go to different places for
vacation?
Both yes and no. There are places that both young and old people
like to go to, but then there are also places which are preferred by
the young or the old. For example, old people prefer going to
religious places. Young people love to go to beaches and places
with adventure sports, but old people are less keen on going to such
places because it requires a lot of physical exertion, which their
bodies might not be able to handle.
3. What do old people and young people think about when making
travel plans?
I think old people care more about comfort. Their main purpose is to
relax, while young people think about recreational activities like
adventure sports. That is why there is a significantly higher
proportion of old people on cruises.

z
4. How do people get to know about new places?
I think the internet is a vast hub of knowledge about places. There
is information about each and every place on the internet. Then,
people can also come to know about new places from their friends
and family. I have also learnt about new places from movies and TV
series
Part 3 (20)
1 Which do you prefer, living in a city or only visiting it as a tourist?
Everyone has a place they call “home” and I am no exception. I was born
and raised in Ho Chi Minh city, and I am used to the weather, food as well
as the people here. Being happy in a place isn’t always a quantifiable or
logical thing. A lot of it comes down to just, well, how a place makes you
feel. So even though I’m an avid traveler who has been to many cities
around the world, I would always come back here, instead of being
a tourist-turned resident in a new place.

2 How do young children react when they go to school for the first time?
From my observation, when unexpected sequences arise older adults are
less able to overcome their habitual responses and they also take longer
to learn to adapt. When asked to vary their learned routine on multiple
occasions, they did not improve as much as younger adults. Older adults
took less time to plan movements but more time to execute them, possibly
because they were unsure of their actions. Young people, on the other
hand, tend to keep an open mind, making it much easier to make
adjustments to better fit a new living place, a new job, or a new
relationship.

3 How do young and old people react differently to new things?

I haven’t got kids yet, but as far as I know, the move from home to school is
a major change for everybody. Most children are bound to have mixed
feelings about leaving behind a familiar environment. They are
oftentimes reluctant to go to school, which reflects a child’s anxiety about
leaving home. There are so many adjustments to make that it may take
some time to settle in. Children who have not made the usual moves
towards independence, find it difficult to be separated from their mothers.

4 Why do some people want to go to college far away from home?

For those who wish to become independent, moving away from their
parents is the first and also the biggest step. Living on their own means that
people need to deal with almost everything on their own, which is the key
factor in building self-assurance and confidence.

6. Describe a situation when something in your house was broken or stopped

working

z
You should say:
What it was?
What happened?
When it broke/stopped working?
And explain how did you fell about it?
Well,my computer had a blackout about a year ago.At the time,I was playing
a computer game when the monitor went black all of a sudden.
I was pissed off because I was about to win the game. But after I found I
couldn't start the computer again,I knew I had a real problem Fortunately,I'm
a techy guy. After I checked out the computer thoroughly,I found the power
supply unit was down and needed to be replaced.Since most parts of my
computer, like the CPU and mother board, were pretty old,I decided to take
the chance to do a whole upgrade for it. After all, it wasn't that much extra
work besides changing the power supply.
Anyway,I bought the parts from a local computer market, which cost me an arm
and a leg I first removed all the parts of my computer carefully and then
installed the new parts one by one. It was more complicated than I thought.
There were lots of lines and cables that i had no idea where to connect.I spent
the whole night trying to do it again and again but still couldnt figure out how to
do it right
Finally,i gave up and put all my hopes in my uncles. He attually just took half
hour to get it done. The computer ran perfectly and way faster than before.

Part3:
1. What are the common home appliances that people use these days?
There are multiple appliances that people use at home today like vacuum
cleaner, microwave ovens, washing machine etc. These appliances help in
automating a lot of manual work and thus reduce human effort and time,
making our life more comfortable.

2. Do you think modern technology makes people lazier?

Yes, I think modern technology is making people lazier because people
have become dependant on the machines and technology for every little
task. People use cars instead of walking to nearby places, and play video
games and watch television instead of doing physical exercise

3. What can people do to protect their equipment from technical

problems?
People should protect their equipment from dust and get it serviced
regularly to avoid any technical glitches. They should also read the
instructions carefully before using the equipment.

z
4. When an electronic item of yours does not work, would you
repair it or buy a new one?

I would try to get it repaired first because repair would probably cost me
less money as compared to buying a new one.

5. Are you good at handling problems on your own?

Well it depends on the type of problem but still if it is a small problem, i

initially try to solve or handle it on my own but if I don’t have expertise in
solving that problem, I like to take it to an expert who can solve it for me
quickly and efficiently.

7. Describe a time when you were preparing for a happy event

You should say:
What the event was
Where you had it
Who helped you to organize it
And how you feel about it
Annually organized with the aim of attaching significance to handicraft
 At first, I had no intention of putting my name down for this contest. However, the
appealing award was the motivation behind my final decision.
+ Description:
 From my recollection, I spent a great deal of time practising: use a needle +
coloured threads to decorate white fabrics → My mother was a master of
embroidering → take a leaf out of her book + learn some techniques
 In the official contest, I embroidered the cloth with a picture of blooming flowers,
highlighted by the shape of a sunflower in the center. Easier said than done, due to
time pressure, the finished item didn’t live up to my expectation → I missed the first
prize
+ Opinion:
 Embroidery in particular + craft activities in general: a stress-buster - have a sound
mind
 First-hand knowledge of sewing + embroidering has practical advantages

Part3:
1. How can parents help children to get organized?
Parents can make a to-do list or a checklist with their children, setting out what has
to be done during the day or the week. The list should include doing homework,
cleaning their personal space and helping with household chores. It is important to
hang the list where it is visible, like in the kitchen or on the door of their bedroom
to remind them of their duties.

z
2. On what occasions do people need to be organized?

I don't think we need a special occasion to be organized. Everyone should learn how
to be organized at all times because it will help us to have more discipline and save a
lot of time. Not to mention, an organized person always leaves a good
impression and is highly valued in any organization.

8. Describe an interesting discussion that you had with friends

You should say:
Who you spoke with
Where you were
What the conversation was about
And explain why you think it was interesting
9. Describe a lesson that you remember well
You should say:
What the course was about
Where you had it
Why you remember it
And explain why it you a lot

Well, I am an introvert person and generally, take time to open up with people. I believe in
speaking less but yearn for meaningful conversations with friends and family. Today, I would
like to share an interesting conversation that I had in the recent past. Actually, I was facing
some anxiety issues due to my bad habit of overthinking. As I had to make a decision about
the career and had to choose among various options. This made me anxious and I started to
become insomniac as I used to spend my nights searching for the better options and
comparing them on Google. In no time, this started to affect my mental as well as physical
health. I decided to talk to my elder cousin regarding the same and shared everything with her
over the phone. She understood my problem and asked me to meet in a café the next day. We
met in Start-up café which has a massive garden area and had this conversation while
enjoying coffee and snacks. She then, made me understood the essence of positive thinking
and the harmful effects negative thoughts can leave on our mind and body. She introduced
me to the concept of meditation and asked me to pursue the same. She even told me the basic
techniques of meditation such as focusing on the breaths and switching our mind towards
positivity in our life whenever any negative thought strikes us. I learnt the technique of
writing a gratitude journal at the end of every day to thank the universe for all the blessings
and happiness. She told me that nothing is more important than being happy in life and
having a peaceful mind. She also asked me to watch the famous movie Secret which is based
on the concept of manifestation. She guided me on how to imbibe the teachings from this
movie in my life so that I could experience and achieve everything I desire. I was so
impressed and motivated by this conversation that I decided to trust her and follow her
guidance. That night, I slept like a baby and the next morning I started to apply everything I
learnt from that conversation. I also watched the movie on the same day and I am thankful to
her that she introduced me to such a magnificent and magical law of the universe. Now,

z
whenever I feel that I am in need of some advice I call her and have a purposeful talk with
her
Part3:
1. When do children normally form their own views?
I don’t think there’s a limit as to when a child can form their own views on matters. I
think a healthy mind, which is the fountain for righteous thoughts is educated and
trained from an early age with the guidance of the grown-ups

2. Do children have strong opinions?

3. Should parents request their kids to obey them?
4. In what industries do you think communication is a necessary skill?

Part3 9)
1. Which can help you remember things better, words or photos?
I must say that I’m a visual learner, as I constantly have to rely on graphic
aids to remember and learn material. I can only memorize information
when it is presented in a written language format or in another visual format
like pictures or diagrams.

2. Why do some people have better memory?

’m not a mind-reading expert, so I cannot know for sure. But I guess some
people have a naturally good memory, as they can
accurately summon names, events and dates from thin air, which is
nearly impossible to me, no matter how hard I try. On the other hand, I
believe there is a lot more nuance to memory than simply labeling a
person’s ability as “good” or “bad”, because memory can actually be trained

3. Why can some people remember some little things in life?

eah, sure. Having a good memory can certainly help make things easier.

Better grades in tests and examinations is ensured, as you can

definitely outperform other classmates in subjects that require recollection
of information. Anxiety and frustration would be accordingly reduced, since
learning is made much faster and easier. Social interaction is improved
thanks to a superior memory

10. Describe an item of clothing that someone gave you

You should say:
What the clothing was
Who gave it to you?
When you got it
And explain why this person gave you the clothing

z
I’m going to talk about a T-shirt, which is one of the most important pieces of clothing in my
closet. As far back as I can remember, it was a present from my mum when I turned 16, and I
have used it since then.
I would say that I am not really fashion-conscious, and I don’t feel like keeping up with the
latest trend. But I did realize that it was a Boo T-shirt, which is a very prominent high-end
brand in Vietnam. The T-shirt is plain white, with a tiny hand embroidered cow in the upper
left corner. Besides, it’s made from cotton, hence very durable and perfect for the humid
summer. I must say that it is really minimal and exactly to my liking.
To be honest, it is my most favorite item and it does go well with everything. I can match it
with any kind of skirt or pants like jeans, trousers, and overalls. In fact, it also makes a
perfect outer layer for a winter outfit. However, despite its practicality and versatility, I still
don’t wear it too often. As it is white, the T-shirt is really difficult to keep clean. Therefore, I
only choose to wear it on special occasions such as a date, a family meeting, or an interview,
like a way to boost my self-confidence.
All in all, it’s a very meaningful gift from someone I really adore, so I will treasure and
continue wearing it in the future. In fact, I don’t think that it will ever be out of fashion, so
it’s an easy call.

11. Describe about a selfie which you catch in your mobile phone on your
favourite occasion
You should say:
When you took it
What type of camera you used
Why you took the photoAnd explain
whether you liked this photo or not.
Well, pictures are the best way to learn their memories. I take so many pictures
in my daily routine. But today here I would like to talk about a when I time
when I take photographs. Actually, I remember when I was in 10 the standard.
That time my friends and I went on a school trip to HOA LAC Apart from it, at
this time, I saw so many new things in Hoa lac. I visited the rock garden, rose
garden and catba lake. I clicked on a lot of pictures with my friends. But one of
my favourite pictures which I clicked near the river. After that, I clicked these
pictures reached the centre of the rose garden. In this area, the picture quality
was clear. Apart from it, on the right side are a small sweet shop was available.
Then on the left-hand side some blank area. Despite, in the backside, people
paint the walls. All my teachers and friends clicked the photos in this area. I felt
over the moon after clicking the pictures. It was a very precious moment for
me. So that was the time I caught the selfie on my mobile phone.

z
Part3:
1. Do Vietnam people like to take photos of themselves?
Yes. Nowadays, it is a trend to take a selfie. Everywhere when you look around,
you will find people taking their pics on their own. Also, on trips also, they
keep on taking selfies. You can say it is a trend to take selfies. It shows
nowadays no one needs each othe

2. What kinds of devices do people like to use for taking photos these
days?
Well, individuals use various types of things for clicking pictures like cameras,
mobile phones and many more. After that these days, the majority of
individuals click the pictures with the help of a mobile phone. In my
perspective, the mobile click the better quality of the picture.

A cake is the most vital part of celebrations nowadays. So today, I would love to talk
about a special cake that I received on my 21 birthday.
st

 It all happened in October last year.

 Because of COVID, my 20 birthday was not that great.
th

 So my mother decided to surprise me this time.

 The event happened at my home.
 I was super excited as my birthday was approaching. So I called up a bunch of friends to
come over on 17 October.
th

 The whole party was well-planned by my elder brother.

z
 Everything was taken care of except the cake. There was no mention of it in the list of
arrangements.
 This made me anxious and sceptical. I knew my family was up to something.
 On my birthday, the secret arrangement was revealed to me.
 I was amazed to see that my mother baked a special cake for me.
 She started baking as a hobby a few years back and made cakes for friends and our close
relatives but never for me.
 Her main motivation behind the cake was to surprise me and make my birthday even more
special.
 The cake was very special because it was a rainbow-themed cake that I had never seen
before.
 If you eat the cake from top to bottom you’ll find the distinct taste of sweet and sour
raspberries. Then warmed and lifted with brightening pineapple flavours.
 She put a birthday candle in the middle that I had to blow out. It was so memorable.
 She even put little angels flying in the sky.
 The cake was not only breathtaking but also delicious.
 In the end, I would say that the best birthday cakes are those that create memories.
The rainbow cake is indeed one of those special moments that I look back and
remember.

You should say:
What it is
Why you can’t manage without it
How long you have had it for
And explain how you felt when you were without it?
When we talk about big screen laptops, we think about heavy and bulky ones
but this premium device is amazingly light for a 14-inch laptop. It is certainly
one of the most portable-friendly options, perfect for carrying around in a
laptop bag, which is the biggest selling point in my opinion. This can offer up
to 25 hours’ battery life from one charge, so I can work all day, moving
between places, travelling without worrying about running out of charge.
Regarding performance, I browse the internet, with dozens of tabs open,
editing and rendering video, writing reports, watching movies, and plenty of
performance for everyday tasks. It runs fast and has superior endurance,
which makes my workload seamless. It now becomes indispensable when I
need to deal with multiple tasks. Overall it is a really great product. For people

z
who are looking for a laptop, I think it is going to be on their short list. For me,
after using it for about 6 months, I believe it is worth every cent.

Part3:
1. Why do you think teenagers always want to have the latest devices
such as the iPhone?

now I would share the experience of having a long walk with my cousin who was
visiting Vietnam after long time.
 Where you walked?
 There are lots of farms around where I live, on his request we decided to have a
walk around the farmland
 And explain how you felt about this walk?
 At first, he was complaining about pollution in the area, but when he inhaled the
fresh air in the morning he felt so goodThen,
 I took it as an opportunity to show him my farms and the vegetables grown there
which he saw after ages.
 During this walk, we recalled our childhood memories and had a good laugh, and
he told me about how Canadian culture is different than Vietnamese and how his
life has changed after moving to that country.
 Finally, this was time we decided to return and continued enjoying the talks. It was
a long walk I enjoyed that allowed me to spend quality time and share feelings
with my cousin.

19. Describe an apartment or a house that you would like to live in near future
You should say:
What it would look like
How big it would be
Where it would be located
And explain how feel about this apartment or house
If I had to talk about my ideal house, it would be a beautiful house by the seaside in
a peaceful country setting.

I love the idea of having a two-storey house because I think it would be enough for
a small family to live cosily. It would have to be painted blue, which is my favourite
colour, and the ceiling would be beautifully decorated with star and moon
ornaments.

I love natural lights rather than artificial lights so each room would have its own
windows. The windows would also be decorated with coloured string
lights and various flowers, which would create a cosy atmosphere for my family. I
would hang some photos of inspirational quotes on the walls in case I need some
motivation. Each bedroom would have a balcony where we can enjoy the
breathtaking view of the sea.

The perfect location would be by the sea because I love the idea of sitting on the
beach and watching the sunrise and the sunset every day. Another reason is that
the weather in coastal areas is usually nice―not too hot and not too cold. It’s
pleasant almost all year round.

z
I think I would have to save a lot of money if I want to buy a house like this. The
price of property has gone up dramatically in recent years, especially in coastal
areas, but I think it’s really worth it.

Part3:
1. What kinds of apartments are most popular?
2. What are the differences between houses that young people and old

21. Describe a rule (in school or work) that you don’t like
You should say:
What it is
Why you don’t like it
How others feel about the rule
And explain whether you’ve followed the rule
There were a lot of rules that i had to follow in school and i wasn’t a big fan of some of them.
So i would like to talk about this one rule that I found the most annoying. It was the one that
made all girls in my high school wear ao dai.– Actually, i don’t really have a problem with ao
dai, or long dress. It is the traditional costume of Vietnamese women and we tend to put it on
only on very special occasions like Lunar New Year or Women’s day. However, back in
highschool, we were made to wear ao dai every Monday, which drove me crazy.– It may look
nice on the outside but having to wear it is a different story. Just imagine you have to wear
this long and tight dress on a hot summer day. This kind of costume also made it very
uncomfortable for us to move, so obviously on Monday we were not very active.– And i was
not the only one who felt that way about this rule. In fact, most of my girl friends in the class
did. But there was nothing we could do about it. If we forgot to wear it when we were
supposed to, we would be punished by our teachers or worse, we might even lose our chance
to receive the monthly scholarship, which was kind of a big deal to us at that time.– Looking
back, i really wish that there hadn’t been such rule. It ruined our Mondays. It’d be a lot better
if girls were just allowed to wear whatever they’re comfortable with to school as long as it’s
appropriate. Having said that, following rules is part of school education. It teaches you
discipline and in that sense, it’s not so bad I guess.

Part3:
1. What are the rules students should follow at school?
2. Are the rules at school good or bad?
3. Do people often violate the rules in Viet Nam?
4. What rules should children follow at home?

Part3:
1. What kinds of people are easy to get along with?
2. How do leaders get along with their subordinates?
3. Do people have time for themselves nowadays?
23. Describe a toy that you often played with as a child
You should say:
What the toy was?
How old you were when you had it?
Did you play with the toy by yourself or with other kids?
And explain how you felt about this particular toy.
I’m going to talk about the teddy bear that my parents gave me on my fifth birthday.

My parents told me that, at first, they didn’t know what gift to give me because there were so
many choices. But after a while, they agreed that they would buy me a teddy bear because
they wanted me to have someone with me, especially when I was home alone.

Actually, I had so many toys that I can’t remember some of them, but I want to talk about the
teddy bear because of several reasons.

First, he was like my childhood friend, who always stood by me whenever I felt lonely.
When I was a kid, my parents often went out to work, so I was left at home with
my babysitter. I used to feel lonely, but once I had my teddy bear, I didn’t feel lonely
anymore. I played with him and carried him everywhere I went.

Second, whenever I felt sad, I looked at his face with a happy smile, and it cheered me
up immediately. I remember my mom saying to me: ‘Don’t be sad! Look at your teddy bear.
You need to have an optimistic outlook on life like him, who is always happy!’ Yes, she
was right. For me, he was not just a toy but a close friend, who could raise me up whenever I
felt down.

I still have him now, and he’s always on my desk, watching me work. Now, I live far away
from home, whenever I look at my teddy bear, he reminds me of so many beautiful
childhood memories that I had with him and my parents.

So, if I had to talk about a special toy in my childhood, i’d have to be my teddy bear

My best friend, Lisa, has numerous good habits which have always made my
parents fond of
her. One of her habits that I really want to follow is that she has a routine of
doing Yoga
every morning.
What habit he/she has
We both studied together at the same university and lived together for two years
in a
dormitory. Therefore, every morning when I woke up, I saw her doing Yoga. I
used to try to
follow her footsteps by doing Yoga in the morning with her, however, it did not
last more
than 5 days due to my laziness. And of course, I failed to take that habit off her.
Lisa has
told me that if she does not do yoga for one day, she will get into a state of
disappointment
and feels extremely uncomfortable, like she has missed something important.
And explain why you want to develop this habit
It can’t be denied that yoga provides a lot of benefits for our body and the mind
too. It not
only keeps the mind alert but also boosts our blood circulation. I think to do
yoga properly,
I need to work hard with determination, dedication and discipline
Part 3

z
What the problem was
How he/she solved it
And explain why you think he/she did it in a smart way
. You know, I am not a sport enthusiast and playing sports are definitely
not my forte so this is kind of a tough one for me. However, Last month, I
stayed at home because of the social distancing regulation so I followed
the Olympic Tokyo quite often. There was one athlete, Pamela Ware - a
Canadian diver, who experienced a worst-case scenario for any divers at
the Tokyo Olympics. Competing in the women's 3-meter springboard
semifinal, Pamela had a misstep on her approach that forced her to bail
out of her last dive and jump feet-first into the water. And of course, her
performance was scored a 0 and she, at the same time, lost her chance
for a spot in the finalists. After the event, Pamela shared what happened
behind the most viral fail of the Tokyo Olympics so far. At first, she had
attempted a dive with a 3.5 difficulty, the most difficult of the
competition to that point. But when it came to her turn, she admitted her
fears that she would have ended up injured If she could not pull that off
so she performed a pencil jump straight into the pool….

And explain why you want to develop this habit
My best friend, Lisa, has numerous good habits which have always made my

and discipline

Part 3
1. What habits should children have?
2. What should parents do to teach their children good habits?
3. How do people develop bad habits?
4. What habits do people have when they get older?
1. What habits should children have?
I think children should wake up early and sleep on time. They should
brush their teeth twice a day, once in the morning and once at
night. They should respect their elders, their parents, and their
teachers. These are basic habits I think all children must possess,
but there are also plenty of other good habits, which parents should
help children develop.
2. What should parents do to teach their children good habits?
I think the parents should incentivise children to develop good
habits. For example, they can buy them a toy if they wake up early
every day of the month. Also, children pick up a lot of habits just by
watching their parents. So, if parents do something regularly,
children would automatically pick up the habits on their own.
3. What influences do children with bad habits on other children?
I don’t think bad behaviour is contagious. But I think parents should
constantly monitor children to make sure they don’t pick up any
such negative habits. In fact, parents should not insulate children
from such bad habits because they are a reality in life.
4. Why do some habits change when people get older?
Habits change when people get older because of busy schedules
and changes in priorities. For example, as people get older, they
might not be able to find time to exercise regularly. Similarly,
people might have to stay awake at night to finish work and thus,
they might not be able to get up early. In childhood, it is easier to
maintain habits because there is a lot of spare time. In my
childhood, I used to read at least one novel a week, but nowadays,
sometimes I can’t even find time to read one during the whole
month.

Part 3
1. What kinds of exercises do Vietnamese people like?
2. What characteristics do you think an athlete should have?
3. Why are there so few top athletes?
4. What’s the best way to become a top athlete?
1. What kinds of exercises do Indian people like?
Most Indian people are not very physically active. That is why there
has been a drastic rise in diseases like obesity and diabetes in
India. However, at the same time, many people in India go for a
morning walk and do yoga.
2. What characteristics do you think an athlete should have?
I think the two most important qualities for an athlete are discipline
and self-confidence. One cannot achieve success overnight; it
requires regular hard work and that means discipline and discipline
is not just restricted to exercise but also to diet. Moreover, in all
sports and gymnastics, mental toughness is as important as
physical fitness, if not more.
3. Why are there so few top athletes?
Because the journey to become a top athlete is full of struggles and
obstacles. Although many people have the physical strength and
fitness to reach the level, they don’t have the mental toughness
required to keep going. In fact, many talented people let go in the
middle because they are unable to keep up with the daily struggles
and challenges.
4. What’s the best way to become a top athlete?
I think the first requirement to become a top athlete is to start
early. Nearly all the athletes today are those who started when they

z
were children. For example, Roger Federer started playing tennis at
the age of three. Then, it’s all about willpower and dedication

The place which pops up in my mind now is my favorite book coffee shop. The name
of this cafe is “Old School Coffee House”.It is in the middle of the Rose Garden of
our city

+ Location: within a stone’s throw from my company

+ Description: First visit: My attention was caught by unique shapes of bookshelves.

The minimalist design with black and white color gives a feeling of space.

Customers with a drink can freely choose books for reading when they spend time in
the café

An ideal place for bookworms:

Provide a relaxing atmosphere: no strange noise + light music is played at a low

volume

Adequate lighting: of course I don’t expect to suffer from eye strain + vision
impairment

+ Opinion: Get away from the huectic pace of life + find peace in mind

Loyal customer: In retrospect when I was a student: after burying myself with exams spend half day

z
At present: weekend or after around-the-clock hours release work pressure

Find friends sharing the same interests In nutshell, this cafe has a special place in my
heart.

Part 3 (32)
1. Do old people like to drink coffee?
2. Do Vietnamese people like to drink coffee?
3. What kind of people would like to go to coffee?
4. Why do young people like studying in a café instead of at home?
1. What kind of people would like to go to a cafe?
I think people who enjoy drinking tea and coffee don’t have time to
make them or can’t make them at home for some reason. Certain
people also visit to study there or work there when they cannot do
so at home.
2. Why do young people like studying in a cafe instead of at home?
I think it’s because of the atmosphere. Moreover, there are so many
distractions at home. Adults prefer cafes because household chores
at home might tie them down.
3. Do older people like to drink coffee?
I think age has nothing to do with liking coffee or not. But I think
drinking coffee affects sleep as it contains caffeine, so people who
have sleep issues do avoid coffee.
4. Do Indian people like to drink coffee?
We are a nation of tea drinkers mainly. In my house as well, nearly
all of us have tea, but only my sister and I drink coffee. But many
youngsters and teenagers like to drink coffee too nowadays.

z
Well, there are some activities that I regularly do and some of them are not
as productive as others.
Here I would like to talk about an activity that is a part of my daily routine that
is surfing social media apps and websites.
Actually, nowadays social media is becoming an inevitable part of our lives.
I have an account on all major social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook
and Snapchat.
So, every day I do check my accounts quite often.
Mostly, I use social media in the evenings after finishing my work.
I also use them whenever I get a short break or some free time.
Sometimes I also open my mobile phone after getting a notification about any
update.
I would say, I spend approximately 1-2 hours on social media daily.
There are a couple of reasons behind using these social media apps.
The primary reason is connecting with my loved ones as I can easily
communicate with them on social media platforms.
Another reason is to get a break from my hectic schedule because watching
something exciting on the internet makes me feel relaxed.
Although these reasons are valid, but sometimes I feel using social media
is entirely an unproductive activity.
Most of the time, I open a social media app only for checking new messages but
once I open it, I couldn’t resist myself from checking more and more posts on my
wall.

So, I feel that it is a kind of addiction that should be left.

Also, in this time I can do something productive for my health.
So that is why I feel that if I use this time somewhere else, it would be
more beneficial for me.
To be honest, now I am trying to stop using these social media apps and I am
really happy that I am getting success.

Part 3
1. How do you balance life and work?
2. Will you continue doing something when you are aware that it’s a
waste of time?
3. What kinds of things make people feel pressured?
4. Why do some people refuse to abide by rules?
. How do you balance work and life?
I think balancing work and life is always a work in progress. We are
always doing it, and it is not something specific. For example, if we
go on vacation with the family, we come back and spend extra time
at work to make up for the pending work. Another rather unhealthy
way, we achieve it is by cutting down on our sleep hours, but it
takes a big toll on our mental and physical health.

z
2. Will you continue doing something when you are aware that it
wastes your time?
I think the adage ‘bad habits die hard’ would be the best answer to
this question. I think we do such things because we are addicted to
them. I think it’s very hard to give up on such activities, and it
requires a lot of willpower. However, the realisation that the activity
is wasteful is the first step, and once people have that, it becomes
easier to stop.
3. What kind of things make people pressured?
I think there are millions of things in today’s life that stress us- for
example, financial obligations, unreasonable work deadlines,
competition with others, and maintaining relationships. The
pressure each puts varies according to the stage of life- for
example, competition stress is in the early stages when we are
trying to get into universities or trying to secure a good job and
financial stress comes a little later when we have to manage the
expenses for the whole family.
4. Why do some people refuse to abide by the rules?
I think there is a certain thrill in breaking the rules and doing
whatever we want. In some ways, it is exhilarating and freeing to
not care about the rules and regulations. Actually, I think it is good
as long as we don’t harm others because it prevents life from
becoming monotonous and boring.

34. Describe a time you were friendly to someone you didn't like
You should say:
When and where it happened
Who he/she was
Why you didn't like this person
And explain why you were friendly to him/her on that occasion

z
Part 3
1. Why are people friendly with the person they don’t like?
I think the main reason is that they do not want the person to know
that they don’t like him/her. People feel they might need a favour
from the person in the future and if the person knows that they don’t
like him/her, he or she won’t help them.
2. What kinds of people are usually friendly?
You may consider me naive, but I honestly believe that majority of
the people in the world are really friendly. I also believe that people
in rural areas tend to be friendlier than urban areas, but that is just
because of the fast-paced and stressful life in cities.
3. What are the differences between being friendly and polite?
I think politeness is about words, while being friendly is about our
actions. I can decline something politely, but I wouldn’t consider
myself friendly if I did so.
4. What do you think about people who are always straightforward?
I think these people are actually the best people in the world for one
can always expect an honest answer from them. However, I also
believe that it is nearly impossible to be straightforward all the
time.

35. Describe an exciting book you have read

You should say:
When you read it
What kind of book it is
What it is about

z
And explain why you think it is exciting
14. Describe a story someone told you and you remember
You should say:
What the story was about
Who told you this story
Why you remember it
And how you feel about it
I am going to talk about a book that l’ve read recently. It is a
Vietnamese coming-of-age novel called “Mắ t Biếc”, which can be literally
translated into Vietnamese as “Blue Eyes”. The novel revolves
around an unrequited love story between Ngạ n, a country boy, and Hà Lan,
his neighbor, childhood friend and lifelong crush.
Ngạ n and Hà Lan grow up together in a remote village in the Central region
of Vietnam. Ngạ n develops a strong love, which later becomes obsession,
towards Hà Lan, the girl whose eyes he adores since the very first time
they meet. Although they spend their childhood and adolescence
together, they later lead a very different life during their adulthood.
While Ngạ n still cherishes the slow-paced life of his village, Hà Lan fails
to resist the amaand glamour ɡlamər of the city life.
She ends up falling in love with a playboy named Dũng, has a baby with him
and leaves the child under the protection of her grandmom and, guess
what, his lifelong crush Ngạ n. Ngạ n raises her daughter like his own child
just to realise at the end of the story that he is just trying to create
another version of his beloved Hà Lan.
I really love this novel since I can see parts of younger self in it The
author’s depiction of the 1990’s Vietnamese life is just brilliant. The
movie adapted from the book is going to be released this December

Part 3 (35)
1. Do you prefer books or movies?
I think movies can never capture the detail and the emotions that
books can. So, I always prefer reading books to watching movies.
But, then again, it’s not easy to find time to read books. So,
sometimes I still watch movies.
2. Do you think it is important to read the book before watching the
movie version of it?
No, not really. Some movie adaptations are really good. A lot of my
friends haven’t read the Game of Throne series, but they still

z
enjoyed the TV adaptation. Ultimately, it’s the person’s preference
and availability of time.
3. Do boys and girls like the same kinds of books?
I have seen some differences in the magazines boys and girls read.
For example, I have seen a lot of girls reading fashion magazines
and very rarely in the case of boys. However, in the case of books, I
don’t think there is any particular difference.
4. What kind of books do Indian people like to read?
I think reading preference doesn’t depend upon nationality. It
depends upon personal preference and the book itself. For example,
Harry Potter is famous all over the world, because it is a fabulous
book. I think it was meant for children, but I have seen a lot of
adults calling themselves Potterheads
Part3: (14)
1. Do young children like the same stories as older children?
2. How has technology changed storytelling?

43. Describe an expensive item that you bought and regretted

You should say:
What it was
How much you spent on it
Why you bought it
And explain why you think you spent more than expected
50. Something important to you that your family has had for a long time
You should say
What it is
When your family had it
How your family got it
And explain why it is important for your family

For people
who are looking for a laptop, I think it is going to be on their short list. For me,
after using it for about 6 months, I believe it is worth every cent.

Part 3 ( 43)
1. Do you often buy more than you expected?
2. What do you think young people spend most of their money on?
3. Do you think it is important to save money? Why?
4. Do people buy things they don't need?
Part 3: (50)
What things do families keep for a long time?
What’s the difference between things valued by people in the past and
today?
What kinds of things are kept in museums?
What’s the influence of technology on museums?

44. Describe a time when you moved to a new home or school

You should say:
When you moved Where you moved
Why you movedAnd how you felt about it

49. Describe a famous city that you think is interesting

z
You should say:
Where it is
What the city is famous for
Why it is interesting
And explain how you feel about it
One of the most impressive cities I would like to live in the future is
London, the capital of England. it was once the largest city in the world
and nowadays it’s still one of the world’s most important cities in terms of
culture and economy.
The first reason why I love to work in this city is that I love the
weather of this foggy city. Inhabitants and tourists are usually welcomed
by such dense fog that we could hardly see anything.
Another reason I would choose London is that the tourism industry there
is very properous and so it fits into my career plan. I've been hoping to
be a tour guide since I was in the midle school. I especially want to be a
group leader to gpide tours overseas. Since a ton of Vietnamese people
travel to London every year.I don't think it would be that hard to find a job
touring around Vietnamese visitors in London.
I will take the visistors to historical and cultural tourist attractions,
such as British Museum, the Buckingam Palace, the national Gallery and
Hype park, located in the downtown of the city, which is a quintessential
landmark of London.
I guess I still have a long way to go to reach my dream. But I'll
definitely try my best

Part3:

1. Why do some people like to visit historical places?

People like to visit historical places to learn about different cultures and their values. They
get knowledge about the historical background of people living in the country.

2. Why do people go to a modern city?

I think the main reason behind this is employment. People get better jobs with high paid
salaries in the cities. Another reason is a lifestyle. People get a better education, health care,
and entertainment facilities in the cities.

3. What are the problems caused by maintaining a historical city?

I think the main problem caused by maintaining historic places is the financial burden on the
government. These funds can be utilized in more important sectors such as health care
facilities and education.

z
4. Do you think having too many tourists is positive for historical attractions?
I think it is a positive thing. When more people visit historical sites, the tourist industry gets a
boom in the local area. People open restaurants and other shopping centers where people buy
a souvenir. Another important factor is funds collected by selling tickets to tourists help
management to maintain the site.

5. What can we do to stop visitors from damaging historical places?

To preserve history, strict rules and regulations must have been imposed by the authorities. If
anyone breaks the rule, then there should be a provision for a fine or punishment.
