Lord Of The Flies movie and book comparison

There were lots of difference between the book and the movie, but the main difference
was the theme. The movie director chose a different path to film the movie, rather than actually
follow what William Golding’s message in the Lord of the flies book.

When the movie started, everyone was swimming in the sea, assuming that the plane
crashed straight into the sea. One of the boys then swim down to the ocean to rescue the pilot
that was sinking to the bottom. Then, everyone somehow found a big raft and row it to a nearby
island. We later found out that the boys are not British and they’re Americans kids that are
naughty and being sent to a military school. After they got everyone together, they had an
election to see who is going to be the chief to run the island. When everything was settled,
everyone was assigned a job to do as a group. A group then went to the top of the island to
make a signal fire. As soon as they make the fire, it got out of hand and it burned the whole tree
and that whole part of the hill. Later on, assuming it was their first night on the island, they had a
campfire story time. Jack was telling the story about the beast, then ended up scaring everyone.
The pilot had a bad fever, he woke up in the middle of the night, left the campsite and went into
the forest. Next morning, Jack and Ralph got along really well and are hunting together. They
found a pig, and with an attempt to kill the pig, they cut it’s skin, leaving the blood. Jack were not
able to catch the pig and it fled away. Their second time attempt to hunt was with the rest of the
young hunters. They weren’t able to catch the pig so they re-enacted the chase, by playing a
game and chase a littlun. In the meantime, a helicopter flew by, Ralph saw it, so he chased it, as
fast as possible to the hill that they had fire, and he weren’t able to get the helicopter to rescue
them. Later on, a littlun was exploring the cave when he saw a figure who he believed was the
beast, he stabbed and killed it. Near the end of the story, after was killed, a littlun was punished
the next morning for letting the fire out and killing Simon. When Piggy and Ralph went to the
hunters’ Rock Castle asking for Piggy’s pecks/glasses back, Littlun pushed a big rock down
from a cliff and hit Piggy’s head, killing him. Then the hunters all went on a hunt to kill Ralph,
setting the whole island on fire. Samneric were the first one to find Ralph hiding, but they didn’t
say anything, they gave him mercy, and let him go. At the end, the soldiers flew in with
helicopters to rescue the boys.

While keeping the story plot, the movie director made a movie from his perspective, with
the main focus on a different theme. The main focus was to make the movie entertaining rather
than to pass on the message that Golding originally wrote in his book.
