The China and the Philippines

Asia has the highest density of population and the most diverse cultural traditions
(Beaufort, 2022). Today, belonging to East-Asian countries, a second-world country, China is
known for having the world's largest population, being the world's biggest plastic producer,
and having a stable, fast-growing economy (Liu, et al, 2022). Currently, China's political
institution is under dictatorship with strong military power. On the other hand, a Southeast-
Asian country belonging to a third-world country, the Philippines, is known for its
magnificent natural tourist spots, abundant natural resources, and home to the most cheerful
people in the world (Yañez, 2020). This country has a safe and accessible space for every
Filipino under democracy, though having weak military power. Even though this country is a
pathway for disasters, Filipinos will always be resilient and will continue to be cheerful for
everyone. Despite the apparent differences, both countries have a great diversity of religious
beliefs embodying authentic Asian cultures.

Compilations of pictures for the Covid-19 safety measures of China and the Philippines
What safety measures did these two countries take to fight Covid-19?

Looking back to the pandemic that brought us significant loss and misery, it was
never an issue of who created it but rather a matter of the great number of people we have
lost. It may have been reported that the first case of Covid-19 began in Wuhan, China, but we
cannot deny that we have let it spread rapidly with our late realization to see that it is a threat
to us humans. Looking at the pictures, we can see that the two countries have done their best
to save lives and prevent the massive spread of the virus, which is, unfortunately, ferocious at
that time.

Under the regime of Mr. Xi Jinping, the Republic of China, during the outbreak of
Covid-19, as we can see in the collage, strictly implemented wearing face masks, wearing
face shields, the sanitization of everything, including public and private roads and areas, and
they banned internal and even domestic travel (Tan, et al, 2021). They have also checked and
tested every citizen to see which people need to be isolated. They mass-produced face masks
and provided front liners with the proper personal protective equipment to monitor isolation
areas and ensure everyone stays at home. Their travel restrictions heightened, and they
employed military service to ensure following lockdown instructions.

On the other hand, under the reign of Mr. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the Republic of the
Philippines, during the outbreak of Covid-19 had also implemented the proper use of face
masks and shields when in public or private places; they sanitized everything that needed to
be sanitized, and they imposed travel ban guidelines. They have made skits to threaten people
into staying inside homes or inside a coffin (Kwok and Lee, 2020, ). They launched limited
programs for people to feel the threat of the virus and made them do what a must is. Their
travel restrictions were also heightened by employing military service by the roads to serve as
checkpoints, checking up managers for ongoing travelers, and ensuring that people followed
lockdown guidelines.
Similarly, both countries have also imposed vaccination programs to protect people
against the virus threat. Even though these two countries did their best to prevent the massive
spread of the virus at that moment, we cannot deny that the virus had already made its way
into everyone's lives without us being aware of it. Yes, we were not able to entirely stop it,
but at least with the overall efforts made by the world, we were able to minimize the spread
and make the impact less severe than before, and everything is now gradually returning to
how it used to be (Dupré, et al, 2020).

In my perception of the word resilient, being resilient is having the fortitude to stand
up and remain positive in the face of misfortune. More specifically, resilience is the ability to
tolerate or recover quickly from a difficult situation. For me, we must maintain this mindset
and personality in any unpleasant condition we may find ourselves in. It is up to us to figure
out how to get back up after falling. We may not understand it in our society, yet one person
has the power to change someone's life in an instant. The ability to be resilient may be a
motivating factor for others to persevere, whether we are aware of it or not. We never know
when we influence others; thus, your actions of being optimistic and powerful may inspire
others to take a step forward after facing setbacks. We must learn how to communicate and
disseminate encouragement and motivation for others to progress forward because we do not
live in this world alone. Furthermore, a resilient culture is necessary for a country since a
country is home to numerous families and cultures, not just one. Having a resilient culture
benefits the country and the people who live in it. This is a driving factor for a country not to
fall apart because they know how to rise above when troubles and conflicts arise.
Nonetheless, resilience does not come naturally, so people must first recognize their worth or
value before standing back. People who do not understand their worth and value in life tend
to fall apart and are unable to withstand any challenges. To fully overcome a struggle, one
must realize that before having the strength to continue, one must be aware of one's worth.
Cultivate yourself not only into the best but also the strongest version of yourself. Keep in
mind that it is for your good only.
