Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS) is about understanding human beings,

the nature and the society. According to Professor Richard M. Walker “ Humanities
is about humanity, it’s about human beings, while social sciences is the application
of scientific research techniques to understand people and society.” Base on this
topic it is all about humanities, the human behaviour and the society, on about how
its works, and about how HUMANITIES and SOCIAL SCIENCE are working and
co-related to each other.

Some issues related to this topic is about the Corona Virus 2019 (COVID-19)
pandemic that really test us all. We are very much aware that during this pandemic
We are not allowed to travel or go anywhere we want, that’s why most of our time
we spent it inside our house, and because of that we’ve got the chance to observe our
surrounding, we’ve had the opportunity to witness or hear all the grievances of our
fellow citizens, whenever the Government says something that could affect other
people. And this is the time where the Humanities and Social Science works.

From this topic I have learned that being an aspiring social worker you need to be
more understanding and be open to all the things that can give you further knowledge
of being soon to be full-fledged Government employee. Just like Professor Richard
M. Walker said, “ It’s a thirst for knowledge, curiosity, understanding the world that
you live in, the events that takes place and that drives a person towards success.”
He also added that “ communication and having a critical outlook on the world
being able to critically appraise the world that we live in.” that’s why to my fellow
student, be more conscious on what is happening around you and don’t stop on
trying.

During the past years many unexpected things happened around the world, 2019
and 2020 is one of the most difficult years for all of us. Many people suffered from pain,
loneliness, longing and so much more. But despite the situation we are experiencing
today we are still able to celebrate the happy moments of our lives, just like how we
commemorate the 157th birth anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio our Filipino
revolutionary hero who founded the Katipunan and laid the first Philippine Republic.

Gat Andres Bonifacio is an inspiration for all of us to survive this COVID 19

pandemic. If we all remember, Andres Bonifacio fought for our country with full
courage and without hesitation even though it means losing his own life. Just like our
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said, “His love of country, which arose our ancestors to
fight for our freedom and secure our right of place in the community of nations is very
vital.” What our President want us to do is to emulate the patriotism and courage of
Andres Bonifacio as our country grapples with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID
19) pandemic. As we become the Andres Bonifacio version of ourselves, together we
can free our country from COVID 19. Remember in our heart what our President said,
“Now, more than ever, as we remember his life and deeds, may the values he faught
for inspire us all to become worthy heirs of the just, progressive, and inclusive society
that he envisioned more than a century ago.”

As we go further may we all become a hero of our country. Together hand and
hand lets make a better future for our next generation, let’s free ourselves and country
from COVID 19, let’s all enjoy our outside world without the fear of getting the virus
and passing it to our family. We don’t need to die to be called hero, we just need to
humble ourselves and help each other, because a real hero are the people who whole
heartedly help someone without asking for anything in return.

From the past months due to COVID 19 pandemic lots of establishments closed
due to lack of income, and many Filipino workers lost their jobs. According to Philippine
Governments commitment to protecting its people under extreme circumstances have
been put to the test by the coronavirus disease (COVID 19) pandemic, and to protect
their people the government proposed a “strict accord with human rights standards.”

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) pandemic is a big hindrance for us.
Many things have change, not only the world we live in but also how we live, how we
spent our daily lives thinking how to survive, and thinking when would these chaos will
end. And through this kind of situation, human rights is highly needed. While the whole
world is suffering from this pandemic, Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea said
in his message in time for the observance of international Human Rights on December
10 that “These human rights standards were observed in identifying and prioritizing
beneficiaries, guaranteeing equal treatment in the enforcement of rules and
regulations; demanding accountability and transparency from government institutions
and their workers and ensuring the protection of workers at the frontlines.” Even
though many of us is not a public servants or a frontliners we are still part of the
Republic Act (RA) No. 11469 also known as the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act and RA
No. 11494 or the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act also known as Bayanihan 2, because
we are part of this society we have all the right to be treated as how they treat those who
are higher than us.

Each of us has its own human right, if some of us failed to fight for their own
rights then might as well help them to know how important their rights is, specially in
this kind of situation that being harassed or used by someone is very vital. It doesn’t
matter how rich or poor you are, educated or not, we all need to defend our rights
because in law and in the eyes of God we are all equal. So we should get what we all
deserve.
