DORONILA DARLYN P.

PROF ED 7 ACTIVITY 7
LET’S APPLY
1. Here is what one Dean of a College of Education told her freshmen teacher education students in her
Welcome Address on Orientation Day:
“Believing that you don't learn everything in the classroom, the College of Education, which will be your
home for four years has prepared a menu of annual co-curricular activities for you. All of these are meant
to help you become the true professional teacher that this College and University have envisioned you to
become.
a) What message do you get from the Dean's Welcome Address?

 The Dean sought to give the impression to the students that the institution would provide all the
resources and opportunities necessary for the development of their students to get them ready for
their chosen area, with the goal of the students bearing fruit for the purpose of both their own
future and the success of their future learners.

b) In the context of this Welcome Address, what does this statement do more, learn more, and have
more.,."(Pope Paul VI, Populorum Progressio, 1967) What message do you get in relation to your
pre-service education?

 Remind pupils to utilize inquiry and accountability to learn something useful. Work harder and
strive for perfection to accomplish more. Greater learning desire equals greater chances. Effort
yields more. It's celebrating. This simple reminder equips youth to compete internationally. Work
harder than ever to succeed. Always improve one time. Be intentional to achieve greater success
each time. Success leads to your goal.
2. A Professional teacher creates a conducive learning environment to facilitate learning. Based on
experiences, illustrate with a drawing or comic strip what a conducive learning is. Display your work in
class. Conduct a gallery walk for everyone to see and/comment ask a question about the comic strips.
3. The Bible says: “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty
again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the
light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under
a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let
your light shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
(Matthew 5:13-16)
Based on this Chapter on the teacher as a community leader, how do these biblical passages apply
to the professional teacher?

 These sentences should serve as a reminder to teachers that self-leadership is an area worth
funding. Someone in charge who never tires of helping people around them Having a good effect
on others is a great way to glorify God. One of Jesus' primary teachings on morality and devotion
is found in the Parable on the Mount, where he uses the symbols of salt and light. Therefore, the
teachings of Jesus are the focus of this passage. We, his followers, may use it.to trained
educators, whose work includes instructing students on how to better themselves for the future.
Life and health are at stake. Professional educators are expected to share their passion for their
fields with their students. Teachers need strategies for engaging students who are struggling to
pay attention in class because of cultural differences. Teachers' reactions to their pupils, as well as
their general disposition, are crucial. This implies that the educator must put in 110% effort until
the pupils begin to engage with the material.

4. “I don’t hear what you are saying because who you speak louder than what you say”.
How does this quote apply to the professional teacher as a community leader? Discuss.

 Another possible interpretation of the passage is that actions speak more than words. This implies
that even if your communication skills and topic knowledge make you an excellent educator, this
may not be enough. If teaching is not your true calling, your behaviors will reveal that to your
pupils. It's possible that the class isn't getting what the instructor is trying to convey. But if you
really like teaching, you'll find that your classroom comes alive with engaged pupils who are
easier to connect with.
5. A teacher is fully convinced that her religion is the only true religion, the only way to salvation.
As a result, she proselytes. Can her good intention of salvation for all justify her proselyting? Why
or why not?

 Proselytes are expected to convince us that their faith is the only way to salvation and that we
must convert immediately. If she is not trying to force her salvation on others, I think her
proselytizing is OK. As with most faiths that openly declare themselves to be the one true faith, if
there is no force involved, it is a justified act of free choice and belief. Teachers are expected to
know their subject matter and the distinction between instructing and evangelizing, but students
have a right to hear and consider opposing viewpoints. No matter how firmly you hold it, a belief
is not the same thing as knowledge. General knowledge, on the other hand, may be shown to be
true and accurate.
6. As a community leader, what will you do if you see something negative in the community
culture? Example.
 Leadership is exemplified. You have power over the people in your community because of your
position as a leader. So, if I see a problem in my community, I will work to fix it as soon as I can.
To prevent prejudice, though, I need to hear all sides of the argument before taking any action.
Excellent listening skills are a hallmark of a great leader. Be fair and give each party a chance to
air their grievances. Just listen. Once I determine what's creating the mayhem, I'll be smack dab
in the middle and ready to implement a solution. I think it has to do with communicating, since it
is the key to having peaceful relationships. A good leader must be forthright, since that is what
the people desire. Think positively, too. Constantly dwelling on failures and mistakes will do
nothing to improve the situation. Lastly, aim to contribute positively. To develop and learn from
one's mistakes, everyone needs feedback.

7. Your mayor has a teacher candidate for a teaching position. Your ranking is over. Your mayor’s
candidate was not part of the ranking and is not a licensed teacher. As a professional teacher, what
would you do?

 As a professional educator, if I had seen the background of a teacher who is capable,

impassioned, and qualified for the position, I would recommend them for the job. Although he or
she is not yet a certified teacher, I am eager to teach and assist him or her whenever he or she
requires assistance. As a professional educator, I should be exhausted by teaching people. I would
rather mold them into what society identifies as a wonderful teacher. Wait for another
opportunity. There are certain circumstances over which we have no influence. Perhaps our turn
has not yet come. Because everything happens for a reason and according to God's plan, I will
advise the candidate to maintain a positive attitude and never be disappointed if he or she is not
ranked. In the end, if you double your efforts, everything will be worthwhile.
8. Cite at least 3 specific ethical behaviors of a professional teacher based on Article III of the Code
of Ethics for Professional Teachers. Come up with a power point presentation or a skit Title:
Respect
Let’s Check for Understanding
1. Give at least 3 expectations that community has for teacher.
1. Believe strongly in the potential of every kid, whether their students' race, religion, language,
financial level, family background, home environment, physical or mental health, or other
differences.
2. Educators are counted on to have a deep familiarity with their pupils' specific phases of progress.
3. A teacher needs to be well-versed in pedagogical methods, curricular resources, cutting-edge
technological tools, and methods for maintaining order in the classroom.
2. How should a professional teacher regard the indigenous people culture?
A professional educator values the culture of indigenous people by comprehending and respecting their
local customs and traditions. Because their culture is distinct from yours, he or she should not look down
on the community's culture, but rather live with them and try to comprehend and appreciate their local
customs and traditions.
Let’s Reflect:
a) If given the opportunity, would you welcome teaching in the far-flung schools? Why or why not?

 Because not everyone will get the chance to teach at other schools, where there will be new
people to meet and get along with, new pupils to teach and share my expertise with, and a new
environment to explore, I would gladly accept such a position if offered. The individuals
involved, particularly the pupils you already cared for, and the experiences we made together,
might make this a difficult choice. However, thanks to this opening, I will be able to share my
expertise with students at other institutions who might benefit from my teaching skills.
b) If you say yes to the call to teach in a far-flung school what should be doing more in your pre-
service education?

 To better assist kids in becoming both intellectually and physically ready for their futures, I need
to improve the abilities that I already possess and place a greater emphasis on the topics that are
essential to a specific field of study.
Taking it to the Net
1. One instance that proves that school-community partnership has been established is the Brigada
Eskwela of the department of education. Research on what Brigada Eskwela is and the good things it has
brought to schools. Share your research findings in class.
Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is a nationwide initiative by the Department
of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes thousands of parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-
government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do
repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public elementary and secondary schools.
For the education quality facet, BE complemented through Brigada Eskwela Plus seeks to increase learner
participation and reduce dropouts, and improve education quality in participating schools to increase
student performance

wishes to relocate. The f found in Republic Act Ramos. The Adopt a School Program was created to
fos-private collaboration in public schools.
2. In what other ways can parents and community leaders be involved in the school to improve
school performance?
You can't make a parent participate in their child's education, but you can promote it and
make it easier. If you make it simple for parents, they are more likely to participate. Twice-
yearly parent-teacher conferences are no longer sufficient. You should create many
opportunities for people to fit engagement and contact into their schedules in a world of
dual-income households, single-parent households, and unorthodox work hours. The good
news is that the internet era provides a wealth of methods for parents to communicate with
their children's school and teachers. Here are some creative ideas for increasing parental
involvement
