This week I learned about the distinct types of learning styles and how to use them for

class and studying. After watching the ATI lesson over study skills, I concluded I am a visual
learner. I searched the internet for several learning style quizzes/tests. I took about three of them
and they all resulted in me being a visual learning. I understand things better by seeing it. For
example, during LVN school I had to watch a demonstration of the skills so that I could do well
on check offs. As I would perform my check off, I would visualize and mimic the steps that I had
seen on the demonstrations. I believe that having this learning style is an asset as a nurse and
could help me with caring for patients. As a visual learner, I can find the relationship between
different concepts and changes in condition.
Through the discussion boards, I learned a lot about my classmates, and I learned a lot
from them. I found out that we are all very worried and nervous about starting this new program.
Everyone is concerned about being able to take care of home and work, now we are including
school. We all know and understand that the things in our lives will have to be reprioritized if we
plan to succeed. What really surprised me the most was the willingness to help one another. I
saw this several times on the Questions and Concerns discussion board. Every question that was
asked got a response from a classmate; it was very reassuring.
