Welcome to the Bread and Pastry Production 8 Self Learning Module on Self-
Learning Module on Types and Uses of Cleaning Materials!

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and


reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

Disinfection destroys microorganisms that can cause spoilage,


infection or undesirable effect to non-living things. It is different from
sanitation because sanitation involves extreme process that can kill all
microorganisms.

OTHER USES OF DISINFECTANT
1. For washing dishes
 Scrub a mixture of sea salt or coarse salt mixed with a little lemon
juice
 Make a paste by mixing baking soda and water, this works well
on stained cups or mugs, and even the cutting board
 Rub a sponge with bar soap or use a plain, liquid, vegetable-
based soap (you can add few slices of lemon to the water to help
remove grease and make your dishes smells like lemon
2. For washing large surfaces
 Dissolve one-half cup of borax in one gallon of hot water
 You can also use soap, water or washing soda (sodium carbonate
monohydrate)
3. Oven cleaner
 Periodically clean with baking soda and water
 Immediately wipe away spills or any grease after use
 Use non-metallic scrub with baking soda paste when scrubbing
grease of spills
 You can also mix two Tbsp of liquid dish soap, two tsp of borax
dissolved into two cups of water. Apply and let sit for 20 minutes
before scrubbing
For self-cleaning oven, do not use any abrasive cleaning materials
