Welcome to the Bread and Pastry Production 8 Self Learning Module on Risk
Assessment!

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by


educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its Officer-in-
Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A. Agustin, in
partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor, Honorable Victor
Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum
using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in developing this
instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

RISK ASSESSMENT

HAZARD
A term used to describe something that can cause potential or
unavoidable harm. Workplace hazard exist and it can come
from anything. Identifying the types of workplace hazards will
give you a head start.

RISK
Risk is the chance or probability that a person will be harmed
or the possibility of something bad happening. There are many
factors that define the degree of risk.

Factors that influence the degree of risk

how much a person is exposed to a hazardous thing or condition

how the person is exposed (e.g., breathing in a vapor, skin contact)

how severe are the effects under the conditions of exposure

Step 1: In identifying hazard, you will list all the hazard present in the area.

Step 2: Next is analyzing or evaluating the risk, you will write the possible
effect of the hazard you listed.

Step 3: Last is the safety measures, these are the precautions taken to
improve safety
