The Flash | Outlining, Plotting

Pre-written by Na$ir
Act 1 - This should take up roughly 20-40 minutes of our story, navigating us towards the plot's
main goal or message which Is to send us and the main character(s) on a journey or interesting
trip.

- For this story our character (Barry Allen) main goal and journey will be discovering the
man who killed His mother while being determined to also give Justice to His father who
was wrongfully framed/ accused of being the murderer of his mother while ultimately,
fighting a psychotic speedster from the future who’s destined to become our main
characters greatest Enemy.

Act 2 - Our protagonist goes through many obstacles throughout this act. Along with learning,
getting closer and closer to his general goal. This should also take about 50-55% of the Main
Idea.

- Our protagonist Barry must overcome his emotional challenges more clearly as this act
goes on, causing Barry to cope with the fact that the man who killed his mother Is faster
than him and always ahead of him before he thinks of a plan. Realizing someone who’ve

harder and harder for Barry to out-smart the antagonist.

Barry Allen, 24 years old wants to free his father from prison

The issue with that Is who he believes to be his mothers killer Is not only faster than him but
There’s no lead.

Barry’s action Is to reunite with his old associate, Harrison Wells (with the help of Martin Stein
and Cisco Ramon) to find this “new” speedster.

Eventually, This new speedster resurfaces and attacks in Iron Heights but just as Barry gets
there, our speedster is gone and Barry is left to clean the place up. Opened cells and criminals
everywhere. One of Barry’s rogues , Captain Cold intervenes out of his cell and engages in off
range combat.

Barry successfully gets the upper hand and instead of putting Cold in one of the cells, he takes
him to Star Lab’s pipe line for questioning since he believes that Cold and this new speedster
have something going on.

Act 1/2
Barry goes on a dinner date with his friend , Iris West and they discuss their lives and start to
get a bit intimate. They're awkward but the chemistry Is obviously there. They discuss more and
more and etc.

Our character (for a short period of time) Is now Caitlin Snow and as she’s preparing to leave
ARGUS, The “new”speedster Is now intimidating this character and Is in need of something.

The initial Issue now Is that Stein, Wells and Cisco still have no lead in finding this speedster for
a second time and seem hopeless .

We track back to Caitlin Snow and see him further intimidating Caitlin , going as far as
threatening her and saying things only she would know.

Back to Barry and Iris ; They’re walking to his apartment and they both seem really happy. They
may be friends but their chemistry is unmatched. They enter the apartment and he welcomes
her “home” they watch a movie and relax until Barry has to go to the bathroom and as he enters
he sees the “new speedster” outside waiting for him on top of another building. This is Barry’s
first time ever seeing this “new” speedsters full body and then he thinks… but just before he’s
sure the “new” speedster runs off and Barry has a choice. Let him go and watch the movie with
Iris or chase him.
Barry chases this speedster and he’s eating dust. This new speedster completely out runs Barry
and Barry has to try and keep up. They stop running and Barry Is in shock of who this man truly
Is. He looks like the man who killed his mother, The Man In Yellow. Barry demands a
question, furiously yelling but they just end up running again. Like a goose hunt. They race and
the race ends at a Football stadium where they have their first fight. As they fight, Barry asks
“Who the hell are you?”, The man In Yellow responds vaguely but enough to cause confusion.
The man In Yellow gets the upper hand and taunts him about his Mother. Barry’s emotions get
to him and this causes his emotions to get the best of him. Barry pushes through the fight but in
the end, he ends up on the ground beat. The man In Yellow further taunts and runs off.

“You’re not Fast enough, Allen”. The last thing The man In Yellow uttered. This single line
makes Barry think the wrong Idea. Harrison Wells usually calls upon him by “Allen”, never his
first name which is “Barry”. This makes Barry a lot more suspicious since he now realizes that
this man knows his Name.

Iris notices how long Barry Is taking in the “Bathroom” and calls for him, no answer. Calls for him
again, No answer. She teases him since she thinks he’s trying to prank or something and even
then… No answer. She gets up and knocks on the bathroom door and shows no sign of
anything. She thinks he’s just playing some dumb joke and brushes it off. Since she’s fairly
nosey, she sees His room and the door Is cracked open. She slowly opens it and goes into the
room to see an actually neat and cared for bedroom. She hears something fall and the sound
comes from the closet. She remains to think it’s Barry and slowly opens the closet and it’s
revealed to be News papers and almost any type of crime evidence Involving the case of “Nora
Allen” . Iris West is completely shocked… “Barry…” she utters.

Meanwhile, at Star Labs we see Captain Cold In the pipeline cell throwing a rubber ball towards
a wall, and catches it once it bounces back to him. Throw, catch, throw, catch, throw and catch.
Cisco comes into the pipeline room and questions Cold. They don’t get much out of him but they
do get a hint and find out that he got himself caught purposely. He explains how he broke into
Iron Heights , let those prisoners free and explains The Man In Yellow kept one of the Prisoners
for “Reasons that aren’t his business”. He tells Cisco that it’s someone that The Flash is
completely prone to and would do anything to find. Cisco realizes that he’s talking about Barry’s
dad, Henry Allen. Cisco Is disappointed In Snart since before all of this he promised to go clean
since Harrison Wells saved his sister. Cisco leaves the pipeline room and rushes to the Cortex
to tell Stein and Wells what’s been said. Cisco suggests telling Barry and Harrison Wells quickly
declines that suggestion since he knows Barry Is emotional about his father and he’ll go and try
to find him blind sighted not knowing If it’s a trap or not. Stein agrees and Cisco argues with
them both saying Barry needs to know and the argument Is based off of whether Barry should
know or if He shouldn’t.
They all eventually come to an agreement and decide to contact CCPD; Fred Chrye specifically
since he has a much more fatherly connection with Barry. But before they do that , they must
locate or try to find a trace of Dark Matter energy around Iron Heights. Martin Stein searches on
the Star Labs satellite. The furthest they go as far as finding Dark Matter energy Is Barry’s. But
it’s Harrison Well’s Idea to transelect Negative Particles that retain within Dark Matter instead of
Positive. Since Barry has positive dark matter particles, he’s much easier to find since those
positive particles interact with electromagnetic forces especially when Barry runs much of that
energy washes away with him. If they want to find Negative Particles within Dark Matter they
must go to the last place that contains It, which to them Is Iron Heights.

Cisco volunteers and Harrison Wells offers to come along with the CCPD and leave Martin Stein
to monitor from security footage. They leave before Barry gets Back.

December 20th, 2005, Central City.

The Christmas tree lit up, Barry’s asleep. Henry & Nora Allen are having a cup of wine. As she
looks at the pretty Christmas lights. Ready to take another sip, their drinks lose gravity and
Instead of staying downwards in their cup, it travels upwards. Floating. Lights flicker on and off,
on and off, and then.

KRACK. We see (In slow motion) Two speedsters busting through the window and fighting
Inside the house. We can see the Man In Yellow along with what it looks to be “The Flash”
fighting it out circling around Nora and their speed wind pushes Henry away from Nora,
knocking him into the Christmas Tree and Barry wakes up scared and confused; being curious
he walks downstairs to see a “living lightning storm” In his living room as his mother is
screaming In the middle of It yelling for Barry to stay away. Henry grabs Barry and tells him to
Run and seconds after that Barry (to the human eye) completely disappears and reappears 24
blocks from his house. A orange yellow lightning glow then runs off before Barry even reacts to
what happens and a Portal Opens, implying that The Flash has now just gone back to his time.

Meanwhile, we see red lightning and a Yellow suit. This Is the Man In Yellow and he seems to
be doing the same thing but as he continues to run…He starts to decrease In Speed and falls
On the ground. It’s explained that due to temporal timeline changes, he’s being drained of his
Speed. He’s upset about this realization and rips his Cowl off. Revealing his face. Tint blonde
hair, scars on his face , looks about 31-34 years old.

PRESENT DAY
We see Martin Stein speaking to Cisco through comms, being guarded by CCP with a funny
looking device In his hand, assuming it’s used to scan for any thermal energy from human
particles around the entire Prison. We hear Prison mates yell, we see some fight and others
being manhandled by The Guards.
Cisco picks up tons of thermal energy coming from underground and so they approach the
basement, many armored Police Officers and Guards ready to fire while Fred Chrye has a
GLOCK 9 with a flashlight attachment.

Back In Star Labs, Barry Allen WHOOSHES In the cortex seeing Martin Stein. He questions him
and asks where everyone else Is gone and Martin Stein, not known for being a good liar…But
it’s good enough to side track Barry. Stein notices the bruising around Barry’s face and
questions what happened. Barry, at first Is vague but then he comes to the conclusion and tells
Stein what happened and Steins is more then shocked but In a way…amazed.

Cisco's voice is heard through the comms and Barry’s attention shifts as to why Cisco is on the
comms speaking about the “Iron Heights underground” Barry asks where Cisco Is and Stein
gives it up. He tells him that Cisco and Wells are at Iron Heights looking for this “New Speedster
'' and quickly, not telling Barry why though. Stein turns off the comms and He and Barry talk.

Meanwhile at Iron Heights we see Cisco, Wells, Fred and CCPST underground. It’s a gigantic
under facility with emptiness. They move forward and hear yells. Cries for help. They follow the
sound and it leads them to the only cell underground. nothing. They see nothing. Hear nothing.
But, thanks to Fred Chrye, he points out a hidden round and metal surface. A Sewer cap! they
all stand back and Fred opens It. A ladder, heading down and nothing but darkness with a pinch
of Light.

A man tied up / strapped to a Wooden Chair. Taped mouth, In a prison suit, seems fine, no
bruises no gouges. The man Is Henry Allen. Fred lowers his gun and takes out an actual
flashlight, rushes and unties him. “It’s Henry, he’s Alive!” Fred shouts up.

Fred helps Henry up and all the wells that end well…so It seems. Henry and Fred climb the
ladder upwards to the “Underground” and most of the armored officers Look at Henry In
disappointment, disgust and shame. “Hello gentlemen.” Henry says kindly, knowing what they’re
all thinking or think that they know.

“Good to see you again, Doctor Allen.” Harrison Wells says, “Hey, are you aware that your son
Is a complete superhero?” Wells looks at him; aggravated “Figuratively. He’s a CSI.” Henry
chuckles.

There’s a breeze. A soft gust of wind. The pinch of light sparks twice but then stops. Flashlights
start flickering on and off and the entire room starts to feel too cold. The armored officers (for
safety) go to cuff up Henry Allen and everybody starts to leave Iron Height’s underground. As
they leave Fred asks “Did you see him?”. Henry replies and says he did see him and Fred
further questions him; “What’d he say?”. Henry tells Fred to give Henry time to process what
happened down there, and although Fred Chrye and Henry Allen are mutual, it’s obvious that
Henry would rather share his experience with Barry, his son.

WOOOSH. The Man In Yellow has Harrison Wells by the neck pinned up against the cold, hard
cracked walls. “Doctor Harrison Wells. It’s good to finally meet you” he utters with a distorted
voice.

We’re at The Star Labs pipeline cell seeing Captain Cold grabbing a futuristic looking device
out of his left pocket, shiny it seems. “He said it should be…here”; he taps a button on the small
device and it sends a shockwave through the glass, completely shattering It and making a loud
sharp noise as it falls into pieces on the ground. He then grabs a small portable device that
opens a breach behind him.

But before he goes In, Barry ZOOMS In the pipeline room. “Snart, Wait!” but he doesn’t wait.
Snart waves Barry goodbye and falls Into the breach. Barry, having 3.002 milliseconds left until
that breach close, Runs into It determined to follow Snart.

Back at Iron Heights underground, The Man In Yellow has his arms around Doctor Well’s neck .
Guns pointed at him. Cisco gets an active notification on His phone and it’s basically an alert
when somebody breaks out the Pipeline cell…which happened just moments before this scene.
Cisco rushes with Henry Allen back upstairs; The armored officers continue to point their guns
at The Man In Yellow as Fred Chrye asks “You look exactly how he used to describe you…” he
proceeds to ask , although not sure, “15 Years ago…You killed Barry Allen’s mother. I wanna
know why.” The Man In Yellow responds but with a calmer tone, although his voice is distorted
he doesn’t have much grim to his tone. “ It was never my intention to kill Ms. Allen. But
according to the books now, it was always her destiny to be killed that night.”

Fred Chrye looks In complete disgust and slight horror. He demands The Man In Yellow to let
him go. Lifting his right arm, the molecules In his body get so excited that his right arm starts to
Phase. Harrison Wells shows no fear and utters “I’m not afraid of you. Your urge for revenge Is
uncontrollable.” The Man In Yellow looks at Harrison Wells. “I know that rage. I can see it. You
did all of this…just to Hurt The Flash.” The Man In Yellow slowly aims his vibrating arm closer to
Harrison's chest.. “You’re never gonna win.”

And then…just like that. Harrison Wells Is dead. The Man In Yellow shoves his vibrating hand
into his chest, shattering a lung. Fred Screams “Wells!” and rushes towards him as The Man In
Yellow runs off. They contact medical support.
j
Cisco and Henry Allen are speaking as they find an empty cell. Cisco Is more than curious and
can’t help but to ask what was said down there. Henry hesitates, but eventually he tells Cisco.

There’s a heart to heart and much understanding between Cisco and Henry Allen, although not
his son Henry finds…somewhat comfort. They finally find a cell that’s away from the madness
and Henry goes In. Cisco being told to lock him In for the “Guards won’t nag him”. Cisco
awkwardly says “See ya later, Barr- Henry—-Mr.Allen” . Cisco stops before he leaves and says
“We’re gonna get you out of there. I promise.”

Henry replies , “Don’t worry about me, Cisco. Just keep my Son safe. Promise me that.”

Cisco sees medical authorities rushing towards the underground entrance; “Shit…” Cisco utters,
he runs towards the same direction by himself , empty spaces, we hear the medical staff yell
“Detective Chrye said Under this hatch!”. Cisco runs towards the direction they went and feels a
small breeze…he feels nothing but emptiness and everything’s now silent. And here he Is, The
Man In Yellow surprisingly runs, stopping in front of Cisco. Cisco’s obvious shocked and the
fear In his eyes
Is a dead giveaway.

“You look just like him.” Cisco Says, The Man In Yellow; In his distorted, cold voice replies with
“Oh I’m not like The Flash at all…others may say I’m the reverse. “ Through his vibrating body
and face , we see a slight grin from" This “Reverse Flash”. Cisco stares at him. Questioning
weather If he’s going to Kill him or not. “Oh I’m not going to kill you.” In such a cold, distorted
voice, “Your destiny has much to forward to. Consider this mercy.”; Cisco, looks frightened but
determined for an answer. “We’re gonna get you. The Flash Will find you and you’re gonna
confess!”. The Reverse Flash grabs Cisco and pushes him up against the wall, “Stop talking.”
The Reverse Flash says but Instead of killing Cisco, “All I need's a few more things to get what’s
mine, and I won’t let no one, not even Barry, stop me.

The medical staff are heard, by the tone of their voices they’re close to coming up.

The Reverse Flash runs off.

We see Cisco walking out from the back entrance, as It rains he sees;
The medical staff and now paramedics come up and have Harrison Wells In a stretcher, jacket
off, shirt ripped In half with tubes connected to where the lung area operates on his chest, tubes
going through his nostrils to provide better oxygen. Cisco sees this and rushes to the
paramedics but gets stopped by one of the Officers , Officer Jorge, Cisco, obviously panicking,
seeing the only man to ever give him a chance In a stretcher barely hanging on to life. Cisco
pushes Officer Jorge away from him. Fred Chrye steps In before Officer Jorge could even do
anything . “I’ll talk to him.”, Cisco wants to know what happened and It’s explained the same
way It was being played out In the actual scene.

Meanwhile, we’re back with Barry and Captain Cold. The breach took them to a now abandoned
mansion; what's left of the “Rogues Mansion”, Barry rushes through the breach and gets shot at
By Captain Cold’s cold gun, stunning Barry as the recoil pushes Barry back and he falls through
a table. “Why follow me, Barry?” Barry gets up, asking a question of his own. Captain Cold
refuses but he tells him vaguely. The information Captain Cold learned from before granted him
this grudge against Barry, although Barry doesn’t know the exact reason, he wonders. Barry
then gets hit by an electric device that grasps onto his neck, sending him Into static shock,
collapsing to the ground.

Moments later/ scene cut

Barry wakes up In a glass solid cell, nothing but some water. Barry looks for his flash ring,
usually In his pockets but it’s missing and as he realizes this, we hear a soft voice. Gizmo Is
toying with his Flash Ring; “How’d you do It?” Barry’s confused. “How’d you put the suit In the
little ring?—- some sort of micro transparent compressor?— or..” Gizmo gets rudely interrupted
by Captain Cold. “Shut up about this tech stuff, It’s annoying.”, he says calmly but obviously
irritated. “Out of everybody In this goddamn world why did he pair me with you?” — Gizmo
replies, aggravated. “Because I have some use. I actually take risks and go out In the field
instead of chasing around teenagers with weird gimmicks”, Cold says. A man with blonde hair,
white, 6’0, Black leather jacket with Black cargos; shows up and silences them both. “Would you
two shut up?” He says…Captain Cold responds back, overstepping his contribution, “As far as
my time goes, Snart. Your futures are dead.”, this blonde man raises his vibrating hand…”Let’s
not make that sooner.”

Cut to the hospital

We see Harrison Wells In a hospital bed lying down with a heart monitor that’s stabilizing and
destabilizing constantly, Nasogastric tube to help his breathing. Cisco sits by him as he shakes
his leg being rushed with Anxiety. Tears, we see. “Don’t die on me, Wells. We need you”.
Peaceful, he seems. He may be on the verge of death but he doesn’t seem uncomfortable
about it. “Cisco…—“ Harrison Wells mummers In such a soft tone. Cisco’s shocked, he smiles.
“You were always my favorite guy, you know that?” Harrison Wells says In his soft voice,
although there’s a tube going through his mouth we still slightly understand what he’s saying.

“I’m here, Doctor Wells.” Cisco says. “Just hang on” Cisco follows up. “No. These —- doctors
don’t know what they’re doing. As far as they’re concerned…I’m entering a state close to death”.
Cisco cries; he begs him to hang on and that he’ll get through it but Harrison Wells knows he
won’t. He knows his time on this earth Is gone. “Thank you Cisco. Thank you for showing me
what it’s like to be cared for. To be loved by people. You, Barry, Stein…and even Harley showed
me that although I don’t care about the rest of the world. I care about you.” His heart monitor
goes slightly down as he says his last few words. “And In many ways —- you’ve shown me…—
what it’s like to have a son, Cisco.” Cisco burst out crying, choked up to the point where he can’t
even build a sentence. “Thank you for everything. This job, letting me meet these people (as
he’s crying). — before he finishes what he wants to say Harrison Wells heart monitor goes
significantly lower. And lower. And lower. He dies right in front of Cisco. Harrison Wells Is
dead.

Act 3 | We cut back to the scene before

“Where are my matters?” The blonde man follows up after saying the previous threat. He shifts
his focus to Barry, sitting In the cell recovering from the static shock whiplash. “So…young.
—Almost hard to hate you when you haven’t done anything. Yet.” Barry looks confused, then It
all comes back to him. “It’s you.” The blonde man smug, as Barry says, “You’re the man In
Yellow.” He introduces himself as “Eobard Thawne”. “Thawne. Like Eddie.” Barry briefly
mentions. “Detective Eddie Thawne. Good cop. Sad that he got kicked off the force, tore his
rotator cuff and couldn’t even recover.” Snart utters. Barry stands up, stepping forward. “Go on.
Ask It.” Barry stares Into Eobard’s soul, glossy eyes, pinkish face…Barry asks the question he
wanted to ask for the last 15 years. He asks Eobard why he'd kill his mother.

Barry and Eobard have a brief conversation about It, obviously Barry Is more emotional while
Thawne shows not much care for it. He then explains his plan and what he’s been plotting on for
the past 15 years and how he’s gonna do It. Barry declines since this Is the man who killed his
mother and ruined his life: But with simple manipulation from Eobard he makes Barry believe
that if he gets what he wants, Barry could get the same closure and have a chance to see his
mother for one last time.

Barry may have an emotional Issue, but he stands his ground and despite the urge to accept he
doesn’t. Knowing they’re would be consequences.
