SPELLING BEE RULES

The judges role is to listen and make sure the rules are respected and decide
whether or not the words are spelled correctly.
To begin with the preliminary round the pronouncer calls forward the name of
the first participant. (1-5).
The contestants stand in front of the judge and members of the jury to avoid
getting distracted by the audience.
The pronouncer says the words.
Each speller will need to repeat their given word, spell the word, then repeat
the word again to confirm he/she finished.
Spellers may request that the pronouncer gives a definition of the word, put it in
a sentence or tell what part of speech it is.
Spellers can ask for repetition up to three times.
***When a Word is spelled correctly, the judge confirms that the spelling of the
word is correct and asks the speller to return to his/her seat with the other
contestants to wait for his/her turn in the next round.
A word is misspelled when the speller uses a wrong letter or uses the sound
of the letter instead of the letter´s name.
If the word is misspelled, the judge should indicate the word is incorrect and
ask the speller to wait for the next contestants to spell the word cotrrectly, if
they do, his mistake will be confirmed by the judge and marked by the jury.
The speller who misspelled a given word for the second time should take a
seat in the designated área with the audience. (Contestants will have the
change to overcome from one mistake only, it means that if they make a
second mistake they will be asked to take a seat in the designated área next to
the audience).
If all the spellers are eliminated in the same round the round will be repeated
with the same contestants and a new word.
A round is complete when all the spellers have had a turn to spell their given
word.

Rounds should continue until there are only two remaining spellers at the
end of a round, this will begin the championship round.

For the Championship Round:

Champioship rounds continue to the previous rounds as long as the word is
spellled correctly.
If the word is misspelled the other speller must attemp to spell it correctly,to
break the tie.
if the word is spelled corectly, he/she will be given a Championship word, if it
is spellled correctly he/she will be declare the WINNER of the Spelling
Bee.
