Advantage and Disadvantages of Using Cell Phone at School

In this era of globalization, mobile phones have become part of everyday life, including for
teenagers and students. Mobile phone is a cell phone that is equipped with various advanced
features and has high capabilities like a computer. However there is controversy about the use of
cell phones in schools. Some people are against using cell phones in school, but some people
support it.

PRO
The good impact for students when at school is that cellphones can be a tool for finding lesson
references. Of course, this tool makes it easier for students to get material, especially when
currently using the independent curriculum, where learning uses cell phones. Students can
access various communication, entertainment, and social applications using only their cell
phones without having to open a computer. Apart from that, students can also learn new skills
and hobbies through their mobile phones. For example learning a new language, drawing
techniques, cooking or improving public speaking skills by learning via their cell phones.

KONTRA
However, the unlimited use of cell phones makes them dependent on this tool. When students
feel bored with their lessons, they may secretly use their cell phones to play games or access
social media for Instagram or send short messages to their friends. Students also become less
sensitive to the social environment because they check their cellphones too often. This can make
student morale very bad.

RECOMMENDATION
We recommend that as teenagers we should not be too addicted to cell phones. We have to be
good at taking advantage of cellphones as best we can and using them at the right time without
disturbing learning activities.
