1. Supply the appropriate CONVENTIONAL partitive expressions with nouns in column A (do not
use a piece of, a bit of), and the appropriate uncountable noun with partitive expressions in
column B. You must not repeat the partitives/nouns from the second/first column (use
different, but applicable ones)

plural/singular is possible, give them both/all, and indicate which form is singular and which is
plural using the subscripts (Sg, Pl). For zero plurals, use the symbol ø; for uncountable nouns

(NB: a variety of nouns will be provided which present different kinds of problems- either
uncountable, or nouns with double plural forms, or nouns with unusual plural spellings, foreign

interpretation is possible, give them both/all

4. Mark the sentences as correct or incorrect. If you mark a sentence as incorrect, you need to
underline the mistake(s), correct it/them and explain the reason for unacceptability. If you
mark the sentence as correct, you also need to comment on whatever caused you to make the
'correct' judgement. The focus will be on the problem areas addressed in
class:Countable/uncountable, singular nouns in –s, unmarked plural nouns, foreign plurals,
special spelling of plural forms, case marking, etc. Remember that you have to comment on
each sentence, correct or not, explaining why the particular forms are correct/incorrect.)
