MUI Halal Decree Validity

Halal Certificate is valid for 4 years since it is issued by BPJPH, unless there is a change in
the composition of the ingredients

Government Regulation about output document in Halal Certification :
PP No. 39/2021

Halal Certificate is a halal product recognition that is issued by BPJPH, based on written
halal fatwa that is issued by MUI.

Article No. 118 :

1. BPJPH and MUI cooperate in terms of determining the halalness of the products,
2. Halal product determination as refer to point 1 is issued by MUI in the form of Halal
Decree.

Therefore the validity period of MUI halal decree changes from 2 years to 4 years based on
MUI Decree No. Kep-49/DHN-MUI/V/2021 regarding adjustment of halal decree validity
time

LPPOM MUI’s as Halal Certification Body is recognized by ESMA 🡪 Halal products with Halal
MUI Decree are accepted in UAE and other countries that require implementation of standard
of UAE.S 2055-2:2016
UAE.S 2055-2:2016 is general requirement for halal certification
body that is implemented by LPPOM MUI to obtain accreditation
from ESMA

The standard require that the halal certificate is valid for Three
Years

GAC (Gulf Country Accreditation Center) in collaboration with National

Accreditation Committee (KAN) require that Certification Bodies accredited by
KAN need to comply with these requirements
According to MUI decree No. of Kep-48/DHN-MUI/V/2021,
MUI halal decree validity period for export product can be
adjusted according to requirements of export destination
country.

Extension of Material Inquiry Submission Scope

Services of LPPOM MUI Laboratorium

 LPPOM MUI Laboratory Service Development
• Established in December 2011 in the LPPOM MUI Building, IPB Baranangsiang
Campus and officially initiated in the GHC Building on January 11, 2014.
• Accredited with SNI ISO / IEC 17025: 2017 since September 2016 as the first
laboratory in Indonesia to be certified for porcine-DNA analysis for the coverage
of pharmaceutical samples, spices, and flavors.
• Moving as a One-Stop Service Laboratory with services:
1. Halal testing: identification of DNA species, identification of pig specific
protein, ethanol content, water permeability test, and identification of skin
morphology
2. Product quality testing: nutritional fact test, proximate test, vitamins, fats,
and their derivatives, etc.
3. Food safety testing: heavy metal residue test, methanol residue,
formaldehyde, borax, etc.
4. Microbiological testing: yeast mold test, ALT, pathogenic bacteria such as E. Exp. Date September 20th2025
