After reading the case of Ms. Gretchen Diez, conflicted feelings were felt.

I
was most irritated and disturbed by how such people continue to have the arrogance
to disparage and downplay other people, particularly LGBTQIA+ individuals. I
became aware that these social problems still exist today as a result of my analysis
of the case. After reading about discrimination against members of the
aforementioned community in the media and in some articles, Diez's statements
about being passionate and forthright about her rights as a trans woman, the fact
that she still has some respect for women, and her willingness to leave if she
offended anyone seemed visibly sincere. It was heartwarming but yet depressing to
hear her say that she still cares and is aware of how people feel about her presence.
It can imply that she is accustomed to the unfortunate normalization of discrimination
in our community. The media fairly represented both sides, Diez's and Ganal's (the
janitor who forbade her from using the women's restroom). In any event, I think that
the press and headlines should be objective and should explain everything so that
the audience and viewers can respond and pick "sides''. The allegations made by
Ganal regarding Diez harassing her initially sounded perplexed and seemed
plausible. Not until Diez stood back up, refuted the charges against her, cleared her
name, and started a new case involving prejudice against the LGBTQIA+ community.

The public was roused by this. People have been calling on the government to act to
stop discrimination against individuals up until this point. People stood up and
demonstrated in support of the SOGIE Bill's quick passage in order to provide justice
to individuals who had been subjected to prejudice by members of diverse SOGIE,
including stereotyping and more severe kinds of stigma like unfair treatment and
outright rejection. Despite promising to demonstrate this during the Senate hearing
on the anti-discrimination bill that seeks to outlaw prejudice based on sex, sexual
orientation, gender identity, and expression, Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III
boycotted the hearing. That demonstrates just how negligent individuals may
become when they minimize such experiences for the community. This case
demonstrates that it is likely that the LGBTQIA+ community won't be able to obtain
the justice and rights that they are due as individuals of the aforementioned bill are
continually put off for unclear reasons. But regardless of the explanations, I think the
community should still have its own rights right away so that it can bring legal claims
with a strong defense. Those who demand justice for the abuse of just expressing
who they are and how they want to be perceived find it heartbreaking how politics
ignore this important matter. Politicians have the authority to intervene on behalf of
local residents who have endured repeated harassment and humiliation from society
simply because they don't meet the expectations of the general public. Members of
the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual
(LGBTQIA+) group experience violence and discrimination almost everywhere in the
world today. It is past due for the Philippines to join the several countries with federal
anti-discrimination legislation. With genuine acceptance, not simply tolerance, this
proposed legislation aims to put an end to hatred and bias directed at the LGBT
population. This policy intends to give everyone access to a safe, equal, and
sensible environment regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity or
expression.

The agony of the LGBTQIA+ community was among the issues that modern society
scarcely addressed for decades, as evidenced by the rise in cruel deaths, criticism,
and sexism. Without marginalization, everyone would have equal access to and
opportunity for medical care, housing, essential services, education, work, and
licenses. According to CNN, several senators are concerned about harassment from
transgender people trying to use the women's toilets. Although it is conceivable, is
that the only reason why they simply let others harass members of the community
and get away with it? Cross-dressers can cause harassment, which can be reported
under the appropriate legislation, but what about the innocent people who are
regularly neglected? Trans women who consistently receive negative comments
because of their differences at birth. Lesbians and Gays who are unable to express
themselves freely because they constantly encounter criticism? There may be a
number of scenarios played out, yet justice may not have been served. Although
there are laws to prosecute incidents of sexual violence, we acknowledge your
concern. Since sexual violence can be addressed by current laws, we perceive a
contradiction in utilizing that as an empty rationale against the passing of the SOGIE
Equality Bill, Senator Risa Hontiveros stated. She also highlighted that discrimination
against the queer population is not covered by current laws. This case analysis has
made me realize that an issue like this with one member of the community is an
issue to all members of the community. An issue like this will deeply affect the views
of certain livelihoods, good or bad.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
