Are electric cars a solve sustanaible to reduce the greenhouse emissions?

In the year 1839, the Scotsman Robert Anderson invented one of the first electric

vehicles, whose inventor did not think beyond an economic interest above the quality of

health and air of the population and the emissions produced by a conventional fuel car,

putting in suffering to the population the devastating effects of noise and toxic emissions

produced by the car powered by gasoline. Likewise, the large population increase in urban

cities in different countries has caused changes in air quality and mobility patterns.

Greenhouse gases are the cause of altering air quality and health and that is why we must

opt for sustainable strategies that help us reduce the ecological footprint, however, electric

cars can be a good option to improve air quality but their cost can be very high.

Body

Electric vehicles are the future. In a world in which more sustainable alternatives are

increasingly promoted and contribute to reducing polluting emissions through technology

has made considerable advances in last years; But despite these technological advances, it

has not managed to achieve importance in the market, whether battery or fuel cell, have an

advantage: they do not emit polluting gases through the exhaust pipe. Compared to a car with

fueltailpipe emissions are caused by burning fuel it include a series of pollutants such as:

carbon monoxide and dioxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particulates matter. which

are very harmful to health, appearance to the respiratory system, lungs and heart and not only

that but also to the ozone layer. It is worth mentioning that electric cars can work to improve

air quality by a percentage, but in terms of their creation and design, the battery generates

more pollution than a fuel-based one, but it can only be a good strategy due to its absence of

emissions during circulation. In the complete cycle, from manufacturing to final recycling,

an electric car pollutes up to 60% less (Capros et al., 2016).

Conclusion

It is concluded that with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, they can be

reduced with the use of electric cars, compared to a fuel car that emits tons of pollutants per

year and that can be harmful to health and not only that but also. They cause damage and

ergonomic disturbances. This mainly due to the batteries of these cars, made from lithium,

cobalt and manganese, and in the process of their production in which a high energy

consumption is spent but it can be the use and circulation in city is a sustainable strategy to

improve air quality and population health.
