A STUDY ON ENGLISH LEARNING OF NATIONAL ECONOMICS

UNIVERSITY STUDENTS DURING COLLEGE
I. INTRODUCTION
1. Background information

English is considered the most widely spoken language across the globe. English is not only a language
but also a medium to understand different cultures, traditions, and literature. English is no longer
simply taught as a foreign language today, but even in many non-native speaking (NNS) countries, it
serves as the medium of instruction in higher education curricula (Yurekli, Citation2012, p. 50). By
learning English, you can explore various forms of entertainment, literature, music, and movies that are
widely accessible in English, broadening your cultural horizons. You can effectively communicate with
people from different countries and cultures, allowing you to connect and collaborate with a diverse
range of individuals.

English is often the medium of instruction in universities, academic journals and study materials. Not
knowing English can make it difficult to pursue higher education or access educational resources.
Effective learning requires a robust mechanism of teaching, which is missing in our education system.
It is an established fact in the academic arena that trained faculty imparts quality education and
knowledge to students. A trained teacher enhances classroom learning outcomes by engaging novel
plans and strategies that provide a rich learning podium to students. Teaching practices and classroom
courses affect student learning outcomes (Kim et al., 2019). It is a classroom that makes or mars
academic improvement of students. The facilitation of various academic English skills courses at the
tertiary level indicates the concerns and commitments made to enable learners to use English as a
medium of learning. The majority of the online content, including websites, articles, and videos, is in
English. Without fluent English skills, you may face barriers in accessing the vast amount of
information and resources available on the internet.

English proficiency is often considered a critical skill for career advancement. It benefits the chances of
getting promotions, leadership roles, and assignments that involve international travel or collaboration.
In addition, many professional development, and training opportunities are trained in English.
Improving English proficiency is very important for students in the modern world, helping them to
communicate effectively, access global opportunities and succeed in different fields. This study aims to
investigate the most effective strategies to enhance the English skills of NEU students. By identifying
and implementing innovative approaches, this research endeavors to contribute to the overall language
development and academic success of NEU students.
