A SONG FOR MARY
The Ateneo de Manila University Hymn

We stand on a hill between the earth and sky.

Now all is still where Loyola's colors fly.
Our course is run, and the setting sun ends
Ateneo's day.
Eyes are dry at the last goodbye; this is the
Ateneo way.

Mary for you! For your white and blue!
We pray you'll keep us, Mary, constantly true!
We pray you'll keep us, Mary, faithful to you!

Down from the hill, down to the world go I;
remembering still, how the bright Blue Eagles fly.
Through joys and tears, through the laughing
years,
we sing our battle song:
Win or lose, it's the school we choose;
this is the place where we belong!

Mary for you! For your white and blue!
We pray you'll keep us, Mary, constantly true!
We pray you'll keep us, Mary, faithful to you!

A MESSAGE FROM
The Dean
JOWETT CECILIO “JET” F. MAGSAYSAY, PhD
Dean, Ateneo Graduate School of Business

Welcome to the Ateneo Graduate School of

Business!

You’re entering your MBA life at a crucial time. Even before the pandemic, the forces of
change had been swirling around us – the clamor for social and economic change, the
disruptions caused by technological advancement, and the multiple demands on the
corporation to value all its stakeholders.

And then there is the ongoing pandemic. Among the transformations that it has brought
about on the world is the mode of learning to which we – students, faculty, and
administration of our school – have had to adapt quickly.

It’s been a great blessing that students have shown that they could adapt well to this
new online learning environment, and at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business we are
committed to continue finding ways to make this kind of learning experience an
effective and, yes, even an enjoyable one.

Congratulations on your decision to make the best investment you could make – an
investment in yourself, for which you could reap rewards throughout your career.

Good luck on your studies, and as we say in the Ateneo, know that everything you will be
doing in your MBA life is Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam those who will see you do your best,
who will see you excel as a professional for others, will see God’s glory.

A MESSAGE FROM
The Director of Student
Activities and Formation

DENNIS RYAN “SHIO” CRUZ, MBA

Director, Student Activites and Formation

Purpose develops us as an individual and as

a community.

As you begin your journey as a Graduate School

learner, I am sure that you will undergo many
adjustments in your personal and corporate lives.

As if the demands of life are not enough, here you are taking on another role as a
student. You will find that countless days and nights will be dedicated to digging
through academic texts, analyzing cases, preparing and sharing reports and
collaborating with colleagues to fulfill course requirements. There might even come a
time when you will ask yourself the vital question of why you took on all of these in the
first place. As the feeling of senselessness and fatigue starts to overcome you, I invite
you to go back to the very day you said yes to this endeavor and decided to better
yourself through your studies.

The essence of an Ateneo MBA is not just about gaining technical knowledge and skills.
It is also about forming your character as a frontrunner in your field. You will find many
amongst your peers those who have opted to extend their purpose by being student
leaders in a selfless manner. They chose to do and give more for others despite their
hectic schedules. Here in the Ateneo, we call it Magis. I invite you to do the same.
Enhance learning by joining and leading school activities. After all, the destination
becomes more meaningful because of the reasons of how you got there. Hence our
dictum “not just the degree but the journey”.

On the days leading up to your graduation, as you process your clearances and
administrative requirements, all of it will come back. As you pass through familiar
campus places, images of your hard work will remind you of the purpose of your years
with us and deeply console you with the fact that you did more and never gave up. I
invite you to not just create more memories but “Memories of More” – Magis Memories if
you will so that on graduation day, when the last note of our Alma Mater had been sung,
you will go out into the world enflamed to search for and carry out your new purpose of
making a positive change in your community.

Welcome to the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and looking forward to seeing you
around!
