Employee Recruitment
One of the main keys in creating professional Human Resources (HR) lies
in the process of Recruitment, Selection, Training and Development of
prospective workers. Finding a professional and qualified workforce is
not easy. It is an obligation in an organization and companies must
conduct screening for new members or workers. For this reason, labor
recruitment is needed to screen applicants who want to apply. In the
organization, this recruitment is one of the important processes in
determining whether or not applicants will apply to the organization.

There are several definitions of recruitment according to experts:

1. According to Henry Simamora (1997:212) in the digital book collection

of Petra Christian University states that:

Recruitment is a series of activities to find and attract job applicants with

the necessary motivation, abilities, skills and knowledge to cover the
deficiencies identified in staffing planning.

2. According to Randall S. Schuler and Susan E. Jackson (1997:227) in

Nanang Nuryanta (2008)
Recruitment includes efforts to find a certain number of qualified
prospective employees so that from them the company can select the most
appropriate people to fill existing job vacancies.

3.According to Schermerhorn, 1997

Recruitment is “the process of attracting a group of candidates to fill

vacant positions. Effective hiring will bring job opportunities to the
attention of people whose abilities and skills meet job specifications.

4. According to Faustino Cardoso Gomes (1995:105)

Recruitment is the process of finding, finding, and attracting applicants

for employment within and by an organization. Recruitment is a two-way
communication process. Applicants want accurate information about
what it's like to work within the organization. Organizations desperately
want accurate information about what applicants will look like when they
are hired.

5. According to Noe at. all ( 2000 )

Recruitment is defined as “the implementation or initial organizational

activity with the aim of identifying and searching for potential workers.

Prospective workers to be recruited can be taken from internal

organizations and external organizations. Recruitment of workers from
within is usually carried out by organizations/companies that have been
running for a long time and have a good career system. Recruitment of
workers from within has advantages, including being inexpensive,
promotion from within can maintain employee loyalty and dedication, and
does not require a long adaptation period, because they are used to the
existing atmosphere. However, recruiting from within also means limiting
the talent that is actually available to the organization and reducing the
opportunities for new ideas to enter.
