Yosprala, Zegerid, Zegerid Reformulated Aug 2006, Zegerid With Magnesium Hydroxide
Drug Classification: This is in a class of medications called proton-pump inhibitors. It works by
decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
Purpose: Is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat GERD-associated conditions such as heartburn and
gastric acid hypersecretion, and to promote the healing of tissue damage and ulcers caused by gastric acid
and H. pylori infection.
Unique adverse effect: This may cause to a rare condition called subacute cutaneous lupus
erythematosus. This can happen even if you have been taking omeprazole for a long time

Drug Classification: Neurotransmitter
Purpose: Is a parasympathomimetic neurotransmitter used to induce miosis of the iris in seconds after
delivery of the lens in cataract surgery, in penetrating keratoplasty, iridectomy, and other anterior segment
surgery where rapid miosis may be required.
Unique adverse effect: This may cause to Rare (systemic) adverse effects of Acetylcholine including
hypotension, slow heart rate, and difficulty of breathing.

Purpose: Used to control complex partial seizures and both simple and complex absence seizures.
Unique adverse effect: This may cause a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).

Drug Classification: Second-generation antipsychotic drug
Purpose: This drug is used to treat a number of mental health disorders including schizophrenia, bipolar
mania, psychosis, or as an adjunct in severe depression. This is indicated for the irritability associated
with autistic disorder and is indicated as monotherapy, or adjunctly with lithium or valproic acid, for the
treatment of acute mania or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder. The primary action of
risperidone is to decrease dopaminergic and serotonergic pathway activity in the brain, therefore
decreasing symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders.
Unique adverse effect: This may cause a serious liver disorder.

Brand Names: Firvanq, Vancocin
Drug Classification: Glycopeptide antibiotic
Purpose: This drug can be administered intravenously to treat septicemia, infective endocarditis, skin and
skin structure infections, bone infections, and lower respiratory tract infections.This can be also
administered orally to treat Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea and for enterocolitis caused
by Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant strains). This drug is what they call "drug of
last resort" because it is used only after treatment with other antibiotics has failed. 
Unique adverse effect: This may cause uncommon adverse effects such as Hearing loss (ototoxicity) and
“Redman” or “red person” syndrome.

Brand Names: Rocephin
Drug Classification: Broad-spectrum third generation cephalosporin antibiotic
Purpose: This drug is used for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations, such as in the
respiratory tract, skin, soft tissue, and urinary tract. It has a very long half-life compared to other
cephalosporins and is highly penetrable into the meninges, eyes, and inner ear and it’s a relatively safe
adverse effect profile. Its long half-life allows for the convenience of daily or twice-daily dosing.
Unique adverse effect: This may cause More serious side effects including Clostridioides difficile
infection (also called C. difficile or C. diff), which causes diarrhea that can lead to severe colon damage
and death.
