I am Auggie Pullman.

I am a kid with a genetic disorder that

permanently disfigured my face. It is categorized as a rare type of
disorder that affect the appearance of the face but doesn’t affect the
senses.
My family allowed me to be educated at home because of my
weird-looking face. However, I soon got bored and decided to go to
kindergarten instead. Although the cruel kids treated me terribly, I
think that was just how school is like to be and after a few days of
school, my mom asked me: ‘How’s school going on, Auggie?’. ‘Great!’ I
responded because I have finally adapted after many difficult and
challenging days. Now, I would sit beside my friends, watching Netflix
on the TV with them.
When I was 6, I went to elementary school. I predict I’m the shiest boy
in the class like just kindergarten because as I grow bigger, my face
differs a lot, it exposes the weird part clearer and it’s harder to get into
a crowd. So I needed to wear a yellow helmet to hide from my real
person. When I stepped into the class, a girl suddenly came to me,
approaching: ‘Oh! Such a cool helmet. Hey, I wanna be friends with
you, can I? I’m Emily, nice to meet you!’. ‘Oh my God’, I whispered,
when a girl with a beautiful pair of glasses accepted me, even called me
friend. And when I told her why I wore a helmet, she said: ‘Oh, that’s
fine. We’re both humans and we should be treated equally.’ That was
the first time I figured out the value of empathy and forgiveness.
In grade 3, a tall, slim and strong guy, whose name is Danny, stepped
into my class. Well, I would rather call him a bully as he abuse of his
unusual strength to threaten his friends, but due to his coolness, girls in
his class love him a lot. One time, he gave me a nightmare when I was
trying to stop him from bullying. He said: ‘Oh shut up, stupid “animal”,
let me do what I want. You don’t gain permission to speak here.’ That is
a worst memory in school that obsesses into my mind.
I studied with Emily for the rest of school experience and although we
both graduated from college, we still keep in touch. We got closer
relationships and would chat on the phone every midnight.
Some years later, the Economic Crisis cried out. Companies started to
struggle, a huge drop of income in economy and if you go for a walk for
exercise, you would see thousand of people in unemployment.
However, for Emily, with her beauty, she still hold a fixed job in fashion.
And even normal people doesn’t personally own a job, do you think I
have one?
‘No.’ is the correct answer. Too bored and hopeless, I ran into lottery.
Well, I spend over $1000 playing lottery with zero time winning a
jackpot. One day, I got a call from Emily. She won a second-prize
jackpot and gave it to me. I didn’t know how to thank her and I rushed
to the agent to receive the prize. I won $4000000 and had enough
money to start an operation which will normalize my face. The
operation ended, my face went normal, combining with my easy
personality and cooperation, I got a fine job, good relationships and
Emily happily accepted my proposal.
From the day I recovered fully, Emily seemed happy as well for
precisely 7 days. Then, unreasonally, she became colder, plainer and
less talkative to me than before. My happy life became sadder and one
day, I tried to find the reason…
She spent all her night texting to someone. This explains why she is
tired all the day. On weekends, she would often say she is going out to
relax, and on one weekend, I texted with Tommy, my best friend: ‘Hey
bro, Emily is being kinda strange these days.’ ‘How come?’ he replied.
‘Meet me today, we’ll find out.’
Then I and Tommy have been secretly stalking her all the way she’d
gone. Then she came to restaurant and waited for a boy. ‘Oh, that’s
Danny!’ Tommy whispered. Then I placed all the clues in an order and
leads to a result: Emily is in adultery with Danny.
I felt betrayed, depressed and have nothing to say. Although Tommy
tried to cheer me up, encourages me but that mental obsession still
make me unsleepable every night. When one day, Emily suggested a
divorce. She said that she is uncomfortable in my house and wanted to
leave and I sadly agreed.
I knew that Emily is just a temptation, a demon that tries to make
everyone conform her, a traitor who I misunderstood that she is my
real love. She isn’t normal, she has a disorder in her brain which affects
her behavior, in my opinion. Or I might be inappropriate to her which
let her to betray me. This gives me a lifetime experience and if she
suggested to love again, how would I accept it?
Life is a challenge with ups and downs, temptations and many other
issues. We, as each individual human, has to think properly to solve a
problem. We shouldn’t follow the temptations because it never leads
to a good ending. However, if we aren’t just as normal as other people,
don’t be sad! There are many people like you are struggling and coping
for a better life, you are not alone and should believe in optimistic
results.
