Digitization is the process of converting data, documents and other analog or physical
information into a digital format, usually for purposes of recording, storing, and preservation of
data in a specific digital technology.
Examples of digitization include scanning old photographs, film negatives, or books to store and
preserve them in a hard drive, scanning or retyping records into pdfs for easy access and
documentation.
Digitalization is transforming our way of doing things by including the use of digital
technologies, usually to make the process more efficient and to reduce errors and costs. This
usually involves processes that people used to do in the physical world such as using cash for
payment, attending in person meetings, counting manually the items in the inventory, and buying
tickets in the cinema.
