2 Installation of Sensorhub
The SensorHUB unit shall be mounted in the 19” Rack and it uses 1U. The modem, switch and power supply are
built into the device. Internally the device is pre-connected. When on site you need to connect the 48V cable and
ethernet cable to rectifier. If a free cooler (Dantherm CC3000) is located on the site, this also needs to be
connected. The supplier’s installation manual comes with the unit when its delivered.
Installation In 19” Rack
The 1U 19” SensorHUB is mounted in a 19” Rack. The rack position is specified in the rack form included
in the site design document.
Rack nuts and bolts is not delivered in the installation package for the sensor hub. It’s very important that the
device is mounted with four bolts with rack nuts.

Picture 1 - Sensorhub (Front)

On the back side of the device, you will find the switch (RJ45 inputs for rectifier and the free cooler) and
the terminal for the 48V cables.
One Ethernet cable, antenna cable and a temp sensor cable is pre-configured and comes out from the device
cable entry.
• The antenna has a magnet attached to it, so that it can be fastened on a metal surface. The antenna shall
be placed at the top of the rack. The cable length is 3m.
• The temp sensor shall be placed on the wall above the rack, at the same height as the cable bridge.
• The -48V cable shall be connected to 6A MCB and to the -48V connection on the back of SensorHUB.

Connection of Ethernet cables

• Ethernet cable from SensorHUB RJ45 port to RJ45 port #5 in the internal switch is pre-connected.
• The following needs to be connected on site:
o Ethernet cable from (RJ45) switch port #1 to RJ45 ethernet port in Eltek Smartpack controller.
o Ethernet cable from (RJ45) switch port #2 to RJ45 ethernet port in Dantherm CC300 free cooler
controller. (Remote access to CC3000, no alarms goes through SNMP. Alarms from CC3000
comes from NO/NC relays)
o If there are any other units that needs to be connected to the Switch, this must be pre-defined and
planned with Safe base upfront.
• A new Rectifier with Smartpack S has an Ethernet cable with 90° RJ45 connector included in the
delivery package. All Smartpack S must have cable 90° connector. The length of cable that follows are
2m.
• If the cable is to short, use a RJ45-Female to RJ45-Female adaptor.

Confirmation and commissioning

After installation and configuration of rectifier, SafeBase need to be contacted and they need to confirm that
they have connection with Sensor HUB, rectifier and CC3000 (if CC3000 is mounted on site).
External alarms
All environmental and external alarms will now go through the Eltek Smartpack controller.
Follow the Tables below on how to connect to alarm card and/or I/O monitor 2.
Schematic drawing for how to connect alarms can be found in the following document: 09.01-01-01 -
Drawing - External alarm connections. Subcontractor must fill in the Alarm text correctly and use the
correct input and alarm name. NB! Confirm with the SmartCom management system responsible in your
project that alarms work, and site is alarm free.
Some Smartpack S system already has a temp sensor connected to Proginput 1.1. Rename it to Hightemp
Room and demount the thermostat on site.

Check points before leaving sites

1. Eltek configuration is right accordance to Telia Spec.
2. Check that the system Battery current is calibrated.
o If the system runs on mains power the value on Battery Current should be => 0A.
o If the Current are negative < 0A the calibration is wrong.
o Go to http://onlinehelp.eltek.com/cwui and follow the instructions for calibration.

3. Check that the batteries are calibrated so the system has the right symmetry values.
o Go to http://onlinehelp.eltek.com/cwui and follow the instructions for calibration.

Mains-output alarm to Baseband (mandatory on all sites)

In order to make the logic in ENM turn off radios when the power supply fails on site, the mains-output from
the rectifier must be connected to the Baseband. This is done so we get the optimal backup time for the
system.

Picture 30 - Mains Failure alarm on Output relay nr 1

Telia has some different systems in the network with different ways of connecting the output. We have the old
outdoor and indoor updated from SP1 to SPR and the newer systems with SPS.
Most of the old indoor systems with SPR has an alarm card showed in Picture 28. Connect mains-output on
Relay 1, port 5-6.

The connection to baseband alarm port shall be done as specified in document 09.01-01. All sites need this
mains failure connection for the logic in the ENM to work.

4 The testing of external alarms.

The test of external alarms is done to confirm that the alarm triggers, when an alarm occurs and to confirm that
the cabling is done correctly. As a standard all alarms go through the rectifier, that is connected to Telia
SmartCom system. The test must confirm that the alarm goes end to end. When an alarm is triggered, the
rectifier identifies the alarm with correct alarm name and then the same name shows in the SmartCom
management system.
The testing of external alarms.
Not all sites have the same amount of external alarms, so only the ones that are present on site must be tested.
In the table below, you find which external alarms that can be tested on site and how they can be triggered to
get the alarm.

6 Upgrading System C20838.024 16kW with Slave unit to Spartpack R with BSM.
Background for upgrading of Eltek system C20838.024 with master-slave
Systems with Master-Slave have a symmetry monitor and battery temperature sensor that runs via one circuit
board and does not have the BSM we use today.
This upgrade involves removing existing SmartPack, slave module and circuit board (for symmetry and
battery temperature).
You need to install a new Smart pack and BSM (Battery monitor)
New Smartpack R shall be inserted where the slave module was. This means that you need to move the
cables that where connected to the old SmartPack module to where the new SmartPack R is inserted.
Shall only be done by qualified electrician with (Certification: Groupe L).

Step 4 - Cabling
 The cables that goes to the old smart pack position needs to be routed to the position where the slave
module where. (New position for SmartPack R)
 The cables need to be placed behind the powercore. The powercore can be pulled out so that you get more
space to pull the cable to the new position.

Step 5 – Install and connect SmartPack R

 Install and connect the new SmartPack R. The CON5 cable should be connected last, because it gives
power to the unit. (If Powercore is connected to power). The Smartpack should be inserted in its place
before the power core in inserted back.
 Use cable zip ties and place the cables so that it doesn't get crushed when the modules are inserted. (There
is not much space so be careful.)

Step 6 – Connect BSM

 Connect BSM with CAN-cable (cat5) to SmartPack R.
 Connect symmetry cable to each battery string.
 If there is only one BSM, you need to install the terminating plug in BSM nr.1.
 If there is a battery cabinet with BSM nr.2, this needs to be connected to BSM nr.1.
 BSMs DIP switch needs to be addressed correct so that the system can read them.
 When there is two BSM the terminating plug is inserted to BSM nr.2.
 Address the correct battery string to the correct port in the BSM. (BSM nr.1 BATTMonSym 1.1 = String
nr1, e.g.
 The BSM shall be placed on the top battery string in the cabinet. This is important, so that we get a correct
battery temperature. (Temperature affects the battery life).
 NB! Remember that there is only one symmetric cable per string and that this one should be placed in the
center.
