Descaling Instructions

Note:
This descaling procedure is to be followed periodically in order to remove possible
mineral deposit accumulation inside the boiler. Descaling should be carried out
especially if unfiltered water has been used in operating the machine. It is recommended,
however, to use only filtered water. This procedure does not supplant the section entitled
“Descaling the Boiler” in the Service Manual.

1. Go into program mode.

2. Program the machine for a maximum temperature of 40 and a minimum temperature

of 38.

3. Replace fresh water supply with one quart of water mixed with a descaling solution.
Use Saeco Descaling Solution for Automatic Espresso Machines.

4. Fill boiler with descaling solution by pressing and holding rinse button (“bull's eye”
inside front door) until 16 ounces of liquid has been dispensed.

5. Allow the machine to sit for 15 minutes.

6. Repeat steps 4 & 5.

7. Rinse water tank thoroughly and replace with fresh water supply. Rinse out the
machine by pressing and holding rinse button until 16 ounces of clean water has been
dispensed.

8. Reprogram machine to its original temperature settings.
