Kinds of figure of speech and examples :

*SIMILE is an expressive style of language with explicit comparisons expressed by

prepositions and conjunctions, such as, bak, like, like, etc.

EXAMPLE :

1.Today she looks sweet like sugar.

2.A basketball athlete as tall as a church.

3.My teacher always gives wise advice like an owl.

4. Because he rarely leaves the house, his skin is white as snow.

5. Like an old tiger who struggles desperately to snare his eyes like a story that
tells the enemy to move away from his city.

*METAPHOR is a usage word or group of words not with the actual meaning but
as a painting based on similarities or comparisons.

EXAMPLE :

1.Teachers are unsung heroes who educate the nation

2. Learn to be diligent so that you become a proud nation's flower

3. The type of person that is disliked is a two-faced person

4. Parents will always be heavy-hearted when separated from their children

5. Problems must be solved with a cool head in order to get the right solution.

*PERSONIFICATION is makes it seem as if inanimate objects can move and carry

out activities like

living things.

EXAMPLE:

1. The volcano finally spewed its hot stomach contents onto the surface.

2. The canary whistled beautifully as if it was singing.

3. The grains of rice cry sadly because they are thrown into the trash.

4. The long scream of the referee's whistle finally finishes or plays the football
match.

5.The spicy dishes at the shop thrill the guests' tongues.

*HYPERBOLE is figure of speech is used to exaggerate something so that it looks

very strong.

EXAMPLE :

1.Do not disturb! I have a lot of work to be done.

2.The models are as skinny as toothpicks.

3. One day your achievements will shake the world, fight from now on!

4.All the fighters in the Ninja Warrior event fight to the death

5. It is certain that your boyfriend will be found and you consider him your best
