CALCIUMS

Spelling error? Not at all. Carey Reams identified almost a quarter of a million different
calcium compounds. He was able to divide those into seven basic groups and consciously
decided to use the mis-spelled "calciums" as a means to draw attention to the wide variety.

RBTI consultants are quick to point out that whereas an alkalizing calcium such as calcium
hydroxide can push the urinary pH up, an acidifying calcium such as calcium lactate can just
as easily drive the pH down. On the other hand, many calciums, such as gluconate or
citrate, are considered neutral in that they provide the needed mineral without affecting
the pH.

The seasoned RBTI consultant understands that "driving" pH values is not the name of the
game. This "driving" almost reduces RBTI to the level of drugs, which are designed to force
the body into one state or another. Conversely, RBTI is about feeding the body those foods
that can build it to the highest state of health.

The heart of the problem is that modern foods are so calcium-deficient that the mineral
reserve of the body falls so low that it cannot easily maintain homeostatis. This was a key
reason for Reams' strong stand that we "should eat the widest possible diet". His
agricultural knowledge allowed him to see that a wider diet would bring a more balanced
array of "calciums" into us. The other part of that suggestion was that he knew a wider
diet would bring more of the 83 other needed minerals into our system. Although the
preferred method of obtaining a sufficient mineral assay is to eat higher Brix foods, most
people find they need to take calcium supplements.

It is impossible to overstate the need for calcium, but as the RBTI consultant knows, it is
important to make sure the calcium being used does not force the body into an adverse pH
situation. Medically-oriented physiology textbooks detail the many ways that calcium is
used by the body to neutralize and dispose of harmful acidic products or byproducts. The
pH portion of the RBTI equation allows one to estimate the mineral reserve (mostly calcium)
and get a handle on the reserve energy.

Can the Reams Biological Theory of Ionization be understood by

the average person?

In a word, yes...but that is merely the start of a fascinating journey that touches into the
very secrets of life itself.

Starting in 1930, Carey Reams undertook a career in agriculture that soon had him
comparing the growth, life, and death of plants to the same processes in animals and
humans. Almost from the beginning he found that he could restore animals to high health
levels by ensuring that they were given forage grown on mineral-rich soil. As the years
rolled by, he developed more and more confidence that he could guide people away from
almost any human malady by using an equation he had first developed for a small neighbor
boy who suffered seizures1.

Although the equation had started with a need for tests of all bodily fluids and excretions
(blood, urine, saliva, perspiration, earwax, stool, lymph, hair, fingernails, skin scrapings,
etc), Reams found much duplication and as the years passed was able to simplify the
equation until a full analysis required only urine and saliva tests.

During a visit to Princeton, Reams commented to Professor Einstein, "You have shown how
matter can be taken apart. How can it be put together again?" According to the story,
Einstein replied that he would leave the explanation of that to the much younger Reams.

It was not long until Reams realized that cells were built by a process akin to electroplating
instead of the still prevailing concept that cells endlessly divide. Reams' ionization theory
opened up a view of cells being constructed, ion by ion, all the way down at the atomic
level. This view fit perfectly with the health equation that Reams had developed long ago.

And what was this view? Namely, that the God-given powers of the human body struggle
unto death to maintain (or restore) perfect health (quantified by Reams as 100% Reserve
Energy2). Even under extreme attack by the AMA, Reams never wavered with his teaching
that the major factors working against perfect health were poor food quality, inadequate
water, and negative mental disposition.

And the factors used to build the famous equation for perfect health?

An urine Brix (sugar) of 1.5---denoting an adequate energy level...

An urine pH of 6.4---signifying a proper mineral balance in the body...
A saliva pH of 6.4---pointing to sufficient digestive enzymes...
An urine conductivity between 4200 and 4900 microsiemens---showing correct body
electrolytes...
An urine evaluation of 40,000 cellular particles per liter---verifying the replacement
of worn-out cells...
An urine concentration of 3 parts per million nitrate---which shows the body is not
overwhelmed with toxicity
AND
An urine concentration of 3 parts per million ammonia---which speaks to prompt
removal of this notorious metabolism byproduct...

Reams' equation has truly stood the test of time. It was understandable when first
developed and it is understandable now. Many have found it to provide answers available
nowhere else.

Notes: 1The medical doctors claimed the boy had epileptic seizures and would not survive
until the age of five. Reams found instead that he had diabetic seizures. Using a Reams
diet the boy went on to live a long and healthy life with children of his own.
2On Reams' scale, the healthiest humans have 100% reserve energy; medical doctors can
first recognize sickness at 30%; the "point of no return" (PNR) is 4%; and the dead have 0%.

A few words on copyright...

The Reams family stands united in their commitment to honor Dr. Carey Reams' final
instruction: I wish to leave the Reams Biological Theory of Ionization to the world.

Dr. Reams once said, "I feel like I'm only in first grade as far as the possibilities of RBTI."
The Reams family wishes for the world's researchers to take the RBTI as far as it can go
toward solving the many agricultural and human health problems we all face.

Dr. Reams well understood the inhibiting nature of copyright and never wavered from start
to finish that his original theories, ideas, concepts, constructs, teachings, hypotheses,
lectures, and explanations should not be restricted in any way by copyright.

Nevertheless, many Reams students have copyrighted their notes, interpretations, books,
class manuals, and other derivative works which are based on the teachings of Dr. Reams.
This is certainly their legal right, but it should always be understood that if they truly wish
to honor the pioneering work of Dr. Reams they will release as much copyrighted material
as possible to the public domain. Much as in the software industry, such release to the
public domain will strengthen the very core of RBTI and help the releasing party as well as
the public.

Courts routinely rule that while fully protecting the right of a copyright holder to harvest the
fruit of their labor, copyright law does not afford protection to anyone wishing to use it to
shield their work from criticism. Specifically;

"Under the fair use doctrine of the U.S. copyright statute, it is permissible to use limited
portions of a work including quotes, for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news
reporting, and scholarly reports."

AN APPEAL TO ALL
This RBTI website will forever remain a "work in progress," but will be 85-90% finished by Spring of
2005. If you have any comments about missing terms, please forward them. If you think any item is
mis-described, mistaken, or even untruthful, please send your reasons and explanation for possible
inclusion. The intent of this web, started 09/19/2004, and last modified 04/15/2005, is to clarify
terms, concepts, and procedures so that all can come to full agreement on what Reams truly meant
in his teachings and what he wanted left as his legacy. Please observe that I have included bits of
"Reams Humor" where he wanted to induce a laugh to emphasize a valid point. Reams humor starts
with "RH:".
