5.1 Function

The purpose of the swing gripper (1) is to take

the sheet that has been aligned in the infeed
and transfer it in perfect register to the infeed
drum (2).
The swing gripper (1) gyrates between the in-
feed plate and the infeed drum (2).

Machine speed
There is an option between the series 742 and
series 746 “Increasing the machine speed to
16000 S/h”.
It concerns only straight print machines.
Perfecting machines are excluded of this option.
By means of the increasing the machine speed
some adjustments are changed.
As of the series 747 the increasing the machine
speed to 16000 S/h is standard.

Setting the torsion spring (QuickChange) up to series 747, (Standard) as of
series 748
The pre-tensioned torsion spring (square cross-
section 6x6) holds the roller lever on the closing
and opening cam. The pre-tension is
27(+2) Nm.
Once the pre-tensioning of the spring is 0°MZ,
the clamp head (SW 14) should be clamped in
the aluminium case with a screw. The case is
held on the swing gripper element and also sup-
ports the axial needle bearing of the gripper
shaft at the same time.
The bracket for the torsion spring is pinned to
the gripper shaft on the A - side. The clamp
head is clamped in the case on the B - side.
- Unscrew screw (1).
- Fasten the adjustment (2) with an aIlen key
(SW14).
- Tap the screw head (1) lightly with a ham-
mer.
- Release the tension from the torsion spring

Setting the pretension of the grippers

1,5mm
The pretension of the grippers is 8,5N.

With this pretension, the setting screw pro-

trudes 2 threads out of the gripper housing.
This corresponds to 1,5mm.

i The distance is theoretical and is intended

for the presetting.
Due to variation of the tolerance deviations
are possible.
The pretension of the gripper has to be 3
