EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In the course of the week; fixing of pile cap reinforcements/formworks, casting of pile

cap, blinding of ground beam/ ground slab areas, fixing of ground slab reinforcements,

fixing of ground floor column reinforcements/formworks, casting of ground floor

columns and fixing of first floor slab formworks were carried out.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Aim and Objectives

Piling Works: To ensure quality and suitable CFA piles capable of bearing the super

structure loadings of the Proposed New Massey Children Hospital (Main Hospital Building)

are installed to 38m depth using standard Engineering methodology/materials and ensure the

installed piles be found satisfactory when pile tests (PIT and PLT) are conducted.

Main Hospital: To ensure that the Main Hospital is built to Architectural/Structural/MEP

details using standard methodology and materials.

1.2 Project Site Description

The project site is located in the east of Lagos Island, along Adeniji Adele road. It shares

boundary with LAWMA building (to the right) and Dolphin Estate phase IV (to the left).

Perimeter fences made of block walls supported by columns at 3metres intervals surround the

site on two sides, while the other sides are surrounded by existing fence.

3.0 CONCLUSION

As regards the foundation; the piles have been installed while the necessary piling tests

(PIT & PLT) have been conducted on the installed piles and found satisfactory.

As regards the other part of the sub – structure; pile caps works have been completed

while other works; fixing of ground beam reinforcements/formworks, casting of ground

beams, backfilling/compaction of ground slab area/laying of DPM, blinding of ground slab

areas, fixing of ground slab reinforcements/ formworks, casting of ground slabs, fixing of

the ground floor column reinforcements/formworks, casting of ground floor columns and

fixing of first floor slab formworks along construction zones 1,2&3 are simultaneously

ongoing.
