Lately, people often use the internet for some purpose either right or wrong. The increase in
internet usage has also caused some negative effects to arise in the society. This situation will
be discussed in the paragraphs below.
The first point it can causing the social distance to widen. This is because when someone is
playing internet or hosting social media they are ignoring family members or friends who
want to chat with them. For example, mothers and fathers greet their children or invite them
to dinner but they ignore the parents because they are busy surfing the internet. This will
cause family harmony to be threatened and cause sadness in the hearts of parents because they
want to spend time with their children and family members.
Second point is causing society to become a society with many social problems. This is
because when people are too busy surfing the internet without proper security and monitoring,
some people may experience various problems. For example, if you are suddenly surfing the
internet, a message comes in and says you won something, maybe this group will believe and
then provide personal information and can cause them losses as a result of being cheated.
Also, children who are given surfing the internet unsupervised will cause them to miss out
and see videos or information that a child should not see. this condition is likely to cause them
to mimic unwanted actions and lead to the occurrence of many social problems among
adolescents.
