Research and Methodology

This chapter presents the research design, the respondents, research instrument, and data

gathering tools, statistical tool, and research locale in the foregoing study.

Design of Research

This study will implement and use the qualitative investigation in titled “The Uprising of

Teenage Pregnancy among students in Banza National High School”.

This research utilizes in case study, a type of qualitative research that determines the problem at

Banza National High School on teenage pregnancy. In this study, some of the students were

given an interview in regards to their current lifestyle and the problems that they are

encountering. A case study is a method that focuses on the particular issues that people are

facing right now.

Respondents of the Study

At Banza National High School, only the students that have been experience in teenage

pregnancy will be given an interview of the study. The respondents will be based on their

experiences and opinions of this study.

Description of Research Instrument

With the identified participants, the researchers will conduct face-to-face structured interviews

using pre-written questions as their guide. The pre-planned inquiries centered on teen

pregnancies and how they related to their way of life. In a face-to-face interview that is

structured, the interviewer may not always strictly follow the predetermined list of questions.

Instead of using the typical question and answer format, the researchers used more open-ended

questions. The interview will also take place at a time that is convenient for the students, such as

before or after class or during their free time. To maintain the integrity of the study, the

researchers will use the cell phone camera to record the testing procedure and gather data for

further analysis. Additionally, it is important to note that the respondents' responses will remain

private because the researchers will uphold the confidentiality of all information they obtain

from them. To protect the integrity of the data gathered, the researchers will adhere to ethical

standards. They will also refrain from disclosing any information that might jeopardize the

respondents' privacy. The researchers will also be held accountable for any wrongdoing, such as

disclosing sensitive data without the respondents' permission.

Interview Guide Questionnaire

1. What are the risk factors do you think is most responsible for adolescent pregnancies

among students in Banza National High School?

2. What resources do you depend on the most to learn about reproductive health?

3. In your own opinion, does the parent play a part in educating their kids about

reproductive health and preventing adolescent pregnancies?

4. Do you think comprehensive sex education programs in school can lower the number of

adolescent pregnancies?

5. Would you be in favor of making contraception and reproductive health services

available on school grounds?

6. How were contraceptive options made available to you while you are an high school

student?

7. As a student in Banza National High School, how well-versed do you feel with

reproductive health and methods of birth control?

8. Do you think that students in Banza National High School who lack awareness or access

to contraception will engage to risky sexual behavior?

9. Do you feel comfortable when teachers are discussing reproductive health topics?

10. Do you think students in Banza National High School will engage in sexual activity

without using birth control?

Data Gathering Procedure

Prior to starting the study, the researchers will request permission in writing from the Banza

National High School principal to carry out their work there. Upon approval, the researchers will

move forward with data collection. They will identify one student in each grade level who has

had a teenage pregnancy, is free during the study's time period, and has no scheduled classes, and

they will politely ask if they would be willing to set aside some time for the researchers to

conduct an interview.

Research Locale

This investigation will take place in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte's Banza National High

School P-3B Osmeña. The students in their esteemed classroom will be the subject of an

interview by the researchers. In order to ensure that their opinions are accurately represented, the

students will be given the choice of where to conduct the interview. The researchers want to

increase the number of participants who are willing to participate and give truthful answers, so

they are letting the students choose where they feel comfortable taking the survey. This will

probably result in more thorough and reliable data that can aid researchers in understanding the

causes of the rise in teenage pregnancies at Banza National High School.
