At the end of this lesson, the learners would be able to:
1. Identify the principles of speech writing
2. use principles of effective speech writing focusing on audience profile, logical organization,
duration, word choice, and grammatical correctness;
3. Plan a speech
4. evaluate a written speech
5. Edit a written speech and;
6. Use different learning skills, and use ICT literacy

III. LESSON PLAN (content: Introduce the principles of learning and its components -
This activity will make the students interactive in class by sharing their knowledge about speech
writing, or any content writing, and will make them focus on writing since this is a writing topic
about speeches and the principles of speech writing)

1. MOTIVATION: Speeching

ELLICIT:The teacher will tell a story about a certain speaker who is delivering her speech. For
example the Sona of the president Duterte.

ENGAGE: When the teacher finishes, she will ask her students about the speech, was it
interactive? Were they able to relate to it? Or even they’re observations to the speaker.

EXPLORE: After that, let students predict the components of speech or what the speaker’s
strategies on making an effective speech.

2. LESSON PROPER:
EXPLAIN: Praise the students for their cooperation on the Motivation part of the lesson, for
sharing their experience on writing, and their observations to the speaker’s delivery. Then connect the
story and the students observations to the lesson Reference/s: Oral Communication in Context by Sipacio
and Balgos

3. EVALUATE:
ELABORATE: Emphasize the importance of relationship between the speaker and their
audience, and as well the guidelines in speech writing.

EVALUATE: Determine how much understanding the students place by providing a short
assessment on their activity notebook with the following questions;
1. Considering the type of audience that you have, what would be the particular
issue that you are going to discuss to them?
2. From the data that you have gathered, how are you going to address your
audience's needs in writing a speech?
3. What are the possible words you are going to use to show respect to your
audience?
4. In writing a speech, why do we need to know our audience?
5. As a speaker, do you think that we need to consider our audience in terms of
their race, gender and age? Why?

4. REFLECTION:
EXTEND: Learning is more effective if they’re able to apply it first hand. First hand experience
on writing a speech will be embedded in students’ memories and will be retained. Through this lesson
the students will develop their writing and absorb the principles of speech writing.
