Objec ve:
Students will understand the concept of preposi ons and their role in describing the posi on and
loca on of objects.
Students will iden fy and use common preposi ons in simple sentences.
Materials:
Picture cards depic ng various objects and loca ons (e.g., a ball, a box, a table, under, on, beside,
etc.)
Markers
Procedure:
Begin by explaining to the students that today they will be learning about preposi ons, which are
words that tell us the posi on or loca on of objects.
Show a picture card (e.g., a ball) and ask students to describe its posi on in rela on to another
object (e.g., "Is the ball on the table or under the table?").
Write the words "on" and "under" on the poster or whiteboard to introduce preposi ons visually.
Display several picture cards represen ng different objects and loca ons.
Call on individual students to come up and place the object in a specific loca on using a preposi on
(e.g., "Put the ball beside the box," "Put the book on the shelf").
As each student places the object, encourage the class to repeat the preposi on aloud.
Introduce a catchy preposi on song to the class that highlights common preposi ons and their
usage.
Sing the song together, emphasizing the ac ons and gestures that accompany each preposi on (e.g.,
poin ng up for "above," crouching down for "under").
Distribute the flashcards with preposi ons wri en on them among the students.
Instruct the students to match the preposi on flashcards with the corresponding picture cards by
placing them next to or on the correct objects.
Set up a relay race course with markers indica ng different loca ons (e.g., "on," "under," "behind,"
"beside").
The first student from each team runs to a marker, picks up a flashcard with a preposi on, and places
it in the correct loca on.
The student then runs back to the team and tags the next teammate to con nue the race.
Review the preposi ons learned during the lesson by asking ques ons and poin ng to objects in the
classroom.
Use the picture cards to prompt students to provide sentences using preposi ons (e.g., "Tell me a
sentence using the word 'under' and the picture of the box.").
Recap the lesson's main points and congratulate students on their par cipa on and progress.
Note: The dura on of each ac vity may vary depending on the class's pace and engagement. It is
important to adjust the me accordingly to ensure all objec ves are met within the allocated me
frame.
