Activity 1. Let us try to check your understanding on the Project Delivery Methods.
1. What is the definition of Project delivery?
Project delivery is known as organizing and bringing together all the steps and elements involved in planning and constructing a facility into a contract to produce a completed project. 2. What are the 3 types of Project Delivery? Give a brief description of each type. The three (3) types of Project Delivery are the Design-Bid-Build, Construction Management, and Design-Build. Design-Bid-Building (DBB) is referred to as the “traditional” method. In the design and planning phases, the DBB method requires two contracts, one for design and the other for construction. The contractor is making sure the project follows the design, the designer establishes and upholds a professional level of care, and the owner is responsible for any discrepancies between the specifications and performance requirements. Moreover, a construction project's planning, coordination, monitoring, and control are all done through the process of construction management. Such a form of Construction sector is the target market for project management, as the name suggests. Lastly, Design-Build simplifies projects for owners that use this strategy and just work with one firm. One contract covers both the design and construction phases, and the project is typically completed as a unified process, with the two parts overlapping. This system accelerates everything and assigns responsibility for achieving contract requirements to a single leader—the design- builder. The design-builder is also responsible for identifying and reporting gaps between prescriptive requirements and performance standards to the owner and other parties.
