5
Mixed Quantitative Questions

Solutions:

1. d.

Let, total amount of work = 360 units (LCM of 40, 45 and 36)

Efficiency of ‘A’ = 360/40 = 9 units/day

Efficiency of ‘B’ = 360/45 = 8 units/day

Efficiency of ‘C’ = 360/36 = 10 units/day

Let, the whole work is completed in ‘x’ days

So, ‘A’ worked for ‘x – 20’ days

And, ‘C’ worked for x – 20 + 8 = ‘x – 12’ days

So, 9(x – 20) + 10(x – 12) + 8 × x = 360

=> 27x = 660

=> x = 24.44 ≈ 24 days

2. e

According to question;

1.44 × {0.25 × 4 × 10x} = 8640

=> {0.25 × 4 × 5x} = 6000

=> x = 600

So, 90x = 90 × 600 = 54000

3. c

Let present age of ‘C’ is ‘x’ years.

Present age of ‘A’ = ‘x – 20’ years

Present age of ‘B’ = x – 20 + 8 = ‘x – 12’ years

So, 1.25 × (x – 20 + 8) = x + 8

=> 1.25 (x – 12) = x + 8

6
Mixed Quantitative Questions

=>1.25x – 15 = x + 8

=> 0.25x = 23

=> x = 92

Present age of ‘B’ = 92 – 12 = 80 years

Present age of ‘D’ = 60 × 2 – 72 = 48 years

Desired ratio = (80 – 10):(48 – 10) = 70:38 = 35:19

4. a

Initial quantity of milk = 220 × 6/11 = 120 liters

Initial quantity of oil = 220 × 5/11 = 100 liters

According to the question,

120 – (x × 6/11) = 100 – (x × 5/11) + 10

=> 120 – 6x/11 = 100 – 5x/11 + 10

=> x/11 = 10

=> x = 110

=> (1.1x + 20) = 141

5. b

Total distance to be covered = 20 × (60/60) = 20 km

Time taken to cover half the distance at original speed = {(20 ÷ 2) ÷ 20} × 60 = 30 minutes

Time remaining = 60 – 30 – 15 = 15 minutes

Required speed = 10 ÷ 15 × 60 = 40 km/h

6. e

5/18 Of 8802 ÷ 5 + 51 = √?

=> 5 × 489/5 + 51 = √?

=> 489 + 51 = √?

7
Mixed Quantitative Questions

=> 540 = √?

=> ? = 291600

7. c

Consecutive prime number is added starting from 11.

21 32 45 62 81 104 133

+11 +13 +17 +19 +23 +29

8. c.

From I:

x2 – (2√3 + 3√2)x + 6√6 = 0

x2 – 2√3x - 3√2x + 6√6 = 0

x (x – 2√3) – 3√2 (x – 2√3) = 0

(x – 2√3) (x – 3√2) = 0

x = 2√3, 3√2

From II:

y2 - 5√2y + 12 = 0

y2 - 3√2y – 2√2y + 12 = 0

y (y – 3√2) – 2√2 (y – 3√2) = 0

(y – 3√2) (y – 2√2) = 0

y = 2√2, 3√2

Relationship cannot be established between x and y.

9. c.

9 × 2 – 1 = 17

17 × 3 + 1 = 52

52 × 2 – 1 = 103

8
Mixed Quantitative Questions

103 × 3 + 1 = 310

310 × 2 – 1 = 619

52 will come in place of 53.

10. c.

39.9% of 1720 + 80.2% of 630 = 89.9% of 1280 + ?

40% of 1720 + 80% of 630 = 90% of 1280 + ?

688 + 504 = 1152 + ?

? = 40
