Connection & System Component

Get to Know How to:


▪ Create End Plate & Bolt in Sample Project
▪ Create Bolt Group
▪ Create Weld in Sample Project
▪ Create Stiffner in Sample Project
▪ Add Stiffner into Column Assembly
▪ Add Custom Component
▪ Use of System Component
Create End Plate & Bolt in Sample Project (Exercise - 01)

Steps:
1. From 3D Views, go to Beam
on top of Column in Grid 8F
2. Create End Plate with
thickness 10
3. Click Bolt, select Column
then End Plate
4. Open Bolt Properties and
Change Occordingly
Create Bolt Group (Exercise - 02)

Steps:
1. On the Steel tab, click Bolt (the Bolt Properties Open)
2. Modify the Bolt Properties, if needed (for example, the Bolt Group
settings affect the end result)
3. Select the main part, to which the secondary parts will be bolted
4. Select the secondary part
5. Click the middle mouse button to finish selecting parts
6. Pick a point to indicate the bolt group origin
7. Pick a second point to indicate the direction of the bolt group
x axis
Create Weld in Sample Project (Exercise - 03)

Steps:
1. From Exercise 01, Go to Steel
➔ Weld ➔ Create weld
between parts
2. First select End Plate then
select Connection Beam
3. Open Weld Properties and
change accordingly
Create Stiffner in Sample Project (Exercise - 04)

Steps:
1. From Exercise 01, create 1
Stiffener Plate with thickness
10 in top Column
2. Change chamfer as indicated
3. Copy mirror stiffener to other
site
4. Copy linear stiffener down to
Beam bottom flange
Add Stiffner into Column Assembly (Exercise - 05)

Steps:
1. From Exercise 03, select 4 stiffener (press ctrl key to
add multiple selection)
2. Right click and Add to assembly
3. Select Column, now stiffener become 1 assembly with
column without need to add the weld
4. Check the assembly from inquiry assembly
Add Custom Component (Exercise - 06)

Steps:
1. Go to applications & components,
then choose define constum
component
2. Setting Custom Component Wizard
(4 steps) – choose Connection then
fill the name, then click Next
3. Select objects (bolt, plate, &
stiffener), then click Next
4. Choose Main Part then click Next
5. Choose Secondary Part then click
Finish
Create Base Plate (Exercise - 07)

Steps:
1. From Application and Component
Side pane, search “Base 1014”
2. Single click the component
3. Select colum in grid C1 in sample
model
4. Default Base Plate will be created at
first
5. Double Click to open the
Component Properties
6. Modify the parameter accordingly
Create Pad Footing (Exercise - 08)

Steps:
1. From Application and Component
Side pane, search “Foot”
2. Single click Pad Footing
Reinforcement (77)
3. Select footing in grid C1 in sample
model
4. Default Pad Footing Reinforcement
will be created at first
5. Double Click to open the Component
Properties
6. Modify the parameter accordingly
Create Starter Bar (Exercise - 09)

Steps:
1. From Application and Component
Side pane, search “Foot”
2. Single click Starter bars for Footing

3. Select footing in grid C1 in sample
model
4. Default Starter bar will be created at
first
5. Double Click to open the Component
Properties
6. Modify the parameter accordingly
Create Shear Plate Connection (Exercise - 10)

Steps:
1. From Application and Component Side
pane, search “146”
2. Single click Shear plate sample (146)
3. Pick Main Beam as main part
4. Pick Connection Beam as secondary part
5. Shear Plate with bolts will be crated using
default setting
6. Double click to open the Component
Properties
7. Modify the paramenter accordingly
